Hipotenusa Journal of Research Mathematics Education (HJRME) is a peer-refereed open-access international journal which has been established for the dissemination of state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of mathematics education. This journal is founded under Department of Mathematics Education FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung. Starting from 2020, HJRME would be published two times in a year (February & August). All submitted manuscripts will be initially reviewed by editors and are then evaluated by a minimum of two National Reviewers through the double-blind review process. This is to ensure the quality of the published manuscripts in the journal.

Abstract

In the learning process, not every student succeeds through the learning process carried out, in other words, not every student can achieve the learning objectives as expected, there are still many students who are less successful. In the process and learning outcomes can be successful or not influenced by many factors, including intelligence, readiness to learn, interest, motivation, teacher ability, maturity, family, school and community. Teaching aids in the teaching and learning process can generate desire and interest, generate motivation, stimulate learning activities and even psychological influence on students. The author in this study uses quantitative descriptive methods, data analysis using statistical formulas. The population in this study were all students of class X SMA Perintis 1 Bandar Lampung which consisted of 9 classes with a total of 398 students, while the sample was taken 2 classes, namely X.2 as the experimental class and X.3 as the control class. . Test the hypothesis by using the statistical formula t-test. From the results of hypothesis testing using the statistical formula t-test, the value of t = 4.62 is obtained. From the t distribution table at the 5% significant level, it is known that t = t = 1.993 and t = 1.67, while at the 1% significant level it is known that t = t = 2.65 and t = 2.39, this means t > t. So with this it can be said that there is an effect of the use of teaching aids on the mathematics learning outcomes of X SMA Perintis 1 Bandar Lampung students and the average mathematics learning outcomes of students who use teaching aids are higher than the average learning outcomes of students who do not use teaching aids. Thus, it can be said that the use of teaching aids is positive or can improve mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

The success of students in learning is not only determined by the level of students' ability in mastering the concepts of the material that has been taught by the teacher, it is also influenced by the learning situation. With a good level of ability, students are easier to absorb and master the material presented. A good situation will allow students to interact with the teacher and with other students, in solving the problems they face. Think talk write strategy can generate desire and interest in learning, generate motivation, stimulate learning activities and even have a psychological effect on students. In this study the method used is a quantitative method. The population in this study were 7th grade students of SMP N 25 B. Lampung, totaling 219 students and 62 students as the research sample. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling technique. The research instrument used a test question in the form of an essay, in the test there were 10 question items. To find out the quality of the instrument, the validity test uses logical validity by means of construction validity and for the reliability test, the result is 0.844, thus it is included in the high category. The results obtained thit = 6.56 For a significant level of 5% obtained tdaf = 2.00 For a significant level of 1% obtained tdaf = 2.66. In accordance with the criteria for rejecting Ho if thit > t(1-1/2) then Ha is accepted. So reject Ho, which means the application of the use of think talk write strategy can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes or Ha is accepted. (1) The application of think talk write strategy can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. (2) Students' mathematics learning outcomes with the application of think talk write strategies are higher than students' mathematics learning outcomes without using think talk write strategies.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills that need to be developed through learning so that students are able to communicate ideas, thoughts, or opinions in learning mathematics. considering the importance of mathematical communication skills, a teacher should be able to build students' mathematical communication skills. Through mathematical communication students can express their understanding both orally and in writing, while students who have low learning abilities will find it difficult to achieve good learning outcomes. This study aims to: (1) determine the percentage of students' abilities in solving geometrical problems, (2) find out the causes of students' difficulties in solving geometrical problems, (3) find out how to overcome students' difficulties in solving spatial problems. . In this research, the method used is descriptive qualitative method. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung with a total of 187 students and took 30 students as research samples. Based on the results of the study, it can be obtained: (1) students who are able to solve geometrical problems are 62.99% and those who have difficulty are 37.01%, (2) the causes of students experiencing difficulties in solving spatial problems are: students do not understand the concept of space in applying to a question, students are not careful in working on every question that exists, (3) how to overcome student difficulties, namely: increasing students' ability to understand the concept of building space by giving emphasis when delivering material, doing more in the form of evaluation exercises. exercises at the end of each learning activity, and giving homework to finalize the material that has been delivered and shows that the indicators of mathematical communication are writing (writing), drawing (drawing), mathematical expressions (expression mathematic). The indicator with the highest percentage is writing (writing) and the indicator with the lowest percentage is mathematical expression (mathematical expression) this is because students have difficulty expressing mathematics in the form of symbols.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are differences in the average learning outcomes of mathematics and which are higher average learning outcomes of mathematics between students who use the learning methods Problem Based Learning and Problem Solving. This type of research is experimental. Data analysis techniques using the ttes formula. The results showed that: (1) there were differences in the average learning outcomes of mathematics between students who used the Problem Based Learning and Problem Solving learning methods at SMPN 2 Metro, this was known based on the calculation of the hypothesis test obtained thit = 2,60 and tdaf = 2,00 so thit> tdaf. (2) the average student learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning method are higher than the Problem Solving learning method in mathematics learning for VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Metro 2016/2017 Academic Year, this is known based on the two average test difference, obtained thit = 2,53 and tdaf. = 1,67 so thit > tda

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research, which purpose to improve the result of the students math process of the students xi ipa by interest based learning. The research subjects were 23 students of Second Year students of SMA in Pangkajene of the second semester of academic year 2012/2013. This research was conducted in two cycles. The procedure conducted in 4 stages, called: (1) Planning, (2) Implementation of action, (3) observation, and (4) Reflection. The data collection was done by giving the cycle test I then cycle test II, and questionnaire response of students after given teaching by interest based learning. The collected data were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative. The result of this research shown that quatitatively, the result of students math learning was increase by Interest based learning. At the first cycle, the numbers of students who passed the study were 19 students (82, 6 %) with an average score of 71,00 from the ideal score of 100 that categorized high score. At the second cycle, the numbers of students who passed the study were 23 students (100 %) with an average score of 87,57 that categorized very high score. While qualitatively, during the learning process, shown that there was better of behavior change, it can be seen by the increasing of students development activity that was suitable with learning of the first and the second cycle. The students also gave positive response of learning which was seen by response questionnaire of students.
