Abstract

The effectiveness of machining process time and surface roughness quality are the main factors for evaluating whether the machining product is acceptable or not. Spindle speed is one way to maximize process time. This study aims to determine the effect of spindle speed variations on the surface roughness of objects made of teak wood material using a 3-axis CNC router machine. The research method uses an experimental method on objects made of teak wood using spindle speed variations of 4000, 6000, and 8000 RPM. Then the surface roughness measurements were carried out, and the measurement results were analyzed to determine the effect of spindle speed variations. The results of the study on the surface roughness of objects, spindle speed 8000 RPM produced a Ra value of 10.988 µm which is the lowest Ra value.

Abstract

Obstacles to damage that occur to the machine, not only cause problems with the machine but also affect the achievement of production targets, such as what happened to the Komori Lithrone G37 offset machine which experienced problems in the production process of book A in the 6000 print process 9 times machine problems occurred, book B in the 4000 print process 10 times machine problems occurred. Obstacles that occur such as weak wind pressure, sensor constraints. Preventive maintenance optimisation is the solution. The research method carried out is observation and on the machine and analysis. The results of this study, after preventive maintenance the production results are better and register and no more print problems occur on the machine

Abstract

The use of kenaf fiber as an eco-friendly textile material faces challenges in the dye printing process, particularly due to its limited dye absorption. This study aims to investigate and optimize various pre-treatment methods on handloom kenaf fabrics for reactive dye printing. A laboratory-based factorial design was employed, testing four pre-treatment variations: untreated, scouring, bleaching, and a combination of scouring and bleaching. Evaluations focused on color fastness to washing, rubbing, and perspiration, following national and international testing standards. Results indicated that single bleaching treatment yielded the most optimal print outcomes, characterized by bright, uniform colors and superior fastness properties, especially under dry rubbing and washing. The combined scouring-bleaching method produced inconsistent results, likely due to fiber degradation caused by over-treatment. It is concluded that single-step bleaching is the most effective pre-treatment for reactive dye printing on handloom kenaf fabrics. This research contributes to the advancement of sustainable textile processing based on natural fibers.

Abstract

In the flexible packaging industry, the quality of lamination results significantly affects both the appeal and protective function of the product. One common issue in the dry lamination process is lamination wrinkle defects, which can reduce the packaging quality standards. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in tension parameters in the dry lamination machine—specifically the tension in Unwinder 1, Unwinder 2, and the Laminator—on the print quality of snack packaging. The research was conducted using a quantitative experimental approach at PT XXX, involving 64 samples with varied tension settings and quality testing through laboratory tests (sealing strength, bonding strength, and dry glue) as well as visual inspections. The Pearson correlation test results indicated a weak to very weak relationship between tension parameters and laboratory test outcomes. The Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test showed no significant differences in lamination quality based on tension variation. However, the Spearman correlation test for visual defects revealed a strong correlation between Laminator tension and the occurrence of lamination wrinkles and shrinkage patterns. Therefore, controlling the tension parameters—especially at the Laminator—is essential in reducing visual defects during the dry lamination process.
