Abstract

This article describes the stylistics analysis of language in perfume advertisement which correlates to gender issue. This topic was chosen due to the critical view on language and gender issue especially in advertisement which promotes the idea of masculinity and femininity represented by the name of the product, their taglines and the description of the product. This research aims at describing the stylistic features of the product name, the tagline and the description in the perfume advertisement. The method of research includes the method of collecting data which is from Oriflame advertisement in the form of a catalog and the method of data analysis which applies Mills' feminist stylistics (1998). The result shows that the naming of perfume represents the gender issue such as the representation of femininity in the perfume for women and masculinity in the perfume for men. Besides, the tagline marks femininity and masculinity in several directions correlate to women and men's nature. Meanwhile, the description of the product contains a lot of style, namely hyperbole, metaphor and personification to beautify the language of the advertisement as well as to promote gender issues to enlarge the target market of the product being promoted.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze: (1) the PTSD of the main character presented in Anthony Russo’s “Cherry”, (2) the effect of PTSD toward the main character's life reflected in Anthony Russo's “Cherry”. The study uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the film. The collecting data of the research method includes watching and reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. The analyzing data of the research method by used displaying, explaining, and interpreting. The result of the study: (1) the PTSD of the main character presented in Anthony Russo’s “Cherry” such as experiencing and witnessing a past event that was unpleasant and frightening and appeared accompanied by symptoms such as re-traumatic and hyperarousal; (2) the effects of PTSD toward the main character's life in the form of effect on mental health, effect on physical health, and effect on quality of life.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze the psychological condition of Dahmer as Post-Traumatic Stress disorder’s sufferer reflected in “Monster: Jeffrey Dahmer Story” and the negative Impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) reflected in the main character. The study uses descriptive qualitative. The collecting data of the research method includes watching and reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. The analyzing data of the research method by used displaying, explaining, and interpreting. The researcher analyzes the data by using Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Sigmund Freud Psychoanalysis. The result of the study: (1) the causes of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) reflected in the main character of Jeffrey Dahmer in “Monster: Jeffrey Dahmer Story” such as Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse, Violence in Children and Teens and Child Sexual Abuse; (2) the psychological condition of Jeffrey Dahmer as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder sufferer in form of Negative Reaction, Hyper Arousal Exposure to Stressor and re-experience event by using Sigmund Freud Psychoanalysis.(3) the negative impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) of Jeffrey Dahmer such as being a psychopath, cannibalism, mutilation and sexual abnormalities.

Abstract

This article discusses the myth of zombies in South Korea and discusses the deconstruction of zombie characters in the All of Us Are Dead series. The source of data from this study is the All of Us Are Dead series by Lee Jae-kyoo, Chun Sung-il and Kim Nam-su, which is adapted from the webtoon story Now at Our School by Joo Dong-geun. The purpose of writing this study is to find out the zombie myth that exists in South Korea and provide references about zombies and how the myth was developed. The author uses the theory written by Jaques Derrida. It uses descriptive qualitative methods to analyze data and employs library research to collect the data needed in the thesis. The author used the subtitle series All of Us Are Dead. The result of this study is human inversion of human and zombie, myth of zombie that shown in this series and deconstruction of zombie myth on human emotion created between different thoughts about the zombies.
