Abstract

Science lessons are designed to help students understand natural phenomena and how to live side by side with nature. To build up such understanding, students need to acquire sufficient inquiry skills as part of the expected learning outcomes. However, science learning outcomes of seventh graders at SMP Negeri 1 Payakumbuh for the academic year 2021/2022 are still below the minimum mastery criteria. From observation, we found that students do not participate actively in classroom teaching, teacher do not implement suitable learning model and do not use supporting instructional materials. Environmental pollution is one of the topics in secondary school science that could serve as a context for students to apply their knowledge and 4C skills. This study aims to see the effect of applying the Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) learning model assisted with ADI worksheet on science learning outcomes. This quasi-experiment research use Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Data were collected through multiple choice items and observation sheets, then analyzed with descriptive statistics. Our findings suggest that the use of ADI learning model influenced the science learning outcomes of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Payakumbuh. This is indicated by the 0.566 N-Gain of experimental class which is significantly higher than 0.290 of the control class

Abstract

Garut Regency is one of the regions that has gastronomic tourist destinations that have the peculiarities of Garut's typical food and beverage products. Tea plantations are one of the gastronomic potentials in Garut that can produce garut tea. Kejek tea is one of the green teas from Garut that has long been developed in Garut for generations. In this article, a literature study was conducted on the processing of kejek tea and the tradition of nyaneut tea in one of the areas in Garut Regency. Literature studies are focused on the study of people's original knowledge of kejek tea and the tradition of nyaneut tea, as well as a scientific review of these two things. The results of literature studies show that in the processing of kejek tea and nyaneut traditions there is original knowledge of the community that can be explained scientifically in science or called ethnoscience. In the processing of kejek tea and the tradition of nyaneut tea, there are values that can be taken, namely the value of social, cultural, economic, and ethnobotanical values

Abstract

Constructivism in learning is a philosophy that holds where the process of forming knowledge in individuals is the result of mental activity supported by the process of learning experience. Many studies have been conducted on the effect of constructivism theory on learning outcomes, but few have quantifies the effect so that it can be analyzed qualitatively. Therefore,  the purpose of this research was to quantify the effect size of the relationship between constructivism theory and student learning outcomes using meta-analytic research and data analysis techniques with openMEE software. Data was collected from Scopus and Google Scholar for 17 articles published in 2019 till 2022. Based on the analysis, In terms of the effectiveness of constructivism learning theory, an estimated data of 1.548 is obtained which indicates that constructivist theory has great effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes. In addition, the effect size measurement at the primary and secondary levels of education indicates that the student is in high category. This explains why constructivism learning is very well implemented because children at this level are already able to be encouraged to construct their own knowledge which influences their learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a valid and practical natural science experiment video of a simple fan on energy in living systems. This video contains elements of STEM and critical thinking skill questions. This research uses the Plomp development model, which consists of three phases, namely the Preliminary research, the prototyping and the assessment. This research was carried out until the Prototyping phase. The research instruments used were validity and practicality questionnaires. The validity tests were conducted to three science education lecturers and the practicality tests were conducted on students at SMPN 15 Padang. The results of the validity test obtained an average Moment Kappa (k) value of 0.85 with the very high category. The results of the practicality test at the one to one evaluation obtained an average Moment Kappa (k) value of 0.92 and at the small group evaluation phase obtained an average Moment Kappa (k) value of 0.93 with the very high category. To find out the students' interest in this experimental video, an interview was conducted as additional data stating which stated that the students were very interested and could help the teacher in deliver on energy material in living systems

Abstract

This research aimed to produce a valid and practical experimental Video Movable Chandelier on Energy Matters in Living Systems (VMC). This experimental video is equipped with STEM elements and several critical thinking questions. The method used in this research is the development of the Plomp model, which consists of three stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment phase. This research is limited to two stages which up to the stage of prototype formation. The instrument used was a questionnaire in the form of validity sheets and practicality sheets. The video validity test was carried out by three science education lecturers from FMIPA UNP, while the video practicality test was carried out by a science teacher from SMPN 15 Padang. The results of the validity test of the experimental video showed an average Kappa moment (k) value of 0.92 which was included in the very high category, while the results of the practicality test at the one to one evaluation and small group evaluation stages of the experimental video showed an average Kappa Moment value (k) of 0.90 and 0.94 with very high category as well. With the VMC it can help teachers carry out practicums on Energy Material in Living Systems both at school and at home as additional learning media and train students' abilities to think critically.

Abstract

To be able to teach scientific literacy to students, teachers need scientific literacy competencies and are in line with TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) competencies. This research was initial research in the development of learning models which aims to determine the extent of the TPACK abilities of science teachers in North Sumatra. The method used in this study was a qualitative descriptive method by describing data in the form of numbers and direct interviews. The instrument used was TPACK multiple choice questions that had been previously developed and proven valid to be able to measure the TPACK ability of science teachers which consisted of 40 questions. The research sample was determined by purposive sampling method. From the sampling results, 20 science teachers were selected from 10 junior high schools in North Sumatra
