Abstract

The objective of this paper looks at educational philosophy and concept of peace and peace education of the most influential Indian philosopher jiddu krishnamurti. He thought that knowledge about life and ourselves is gained at both the beginning and the end of education. The nourishment of kindness is education, and goodness cannot flourish in the presence of fear. Krishnamurti gives the unique concept of peace and peace education and how it can be used as a weapon to end the conflicts and violence throughout the world. In this paper investigator used the philosophical method and for the data collection primary and secondary sources are used. Overall the study reflected krishnamurti’s educational philosophy for the balanced development of the child. As per krishnamurti Peace cannot be attained by any philosophy or via legislation; it can only be attained when each of us starts to comprehend how our own minds work. If we wait for some new system to bring about peace instead of taking personal responsibility, we will only end ourselves as its slaves.

Abstract

The case study aimed to investigate the experiences of incarcerated students engaged in distance learning and the university's support efforts. Its objective was to guide future research and initiatives for better supporting this student group. The central inquiry was focused on understanding the challenges and benefits faced by incarcerated students participating in distance education. Through qualitative methods, data were gathered via in-depth interviews with 12 incarcerated students enrolled in a Namibian correctional facility's distance education program. The findings highlighted key themes such as the flexibility and independence provided by distance learning, enabling students to manage academic commitments alongside prison duties. Challenges noted included limited access to technology, internet disruptions, and difficulties in accessing learning materials. Furthermore, participants emphasized how distance education positively influenced their personal growth, skills development, and prospects for reintegrating into society post-incarceration. The study underscores the necessity of customizing distance education initiatives to meet the unique needs and constraints of incarcerated individuals, acknowledging the transformative potential of education within the prison environment.

Abstract

The widespread of illegal trading (Red market) of medicinal plants has reached a concerning phase in South Africa rural areas. This prohibited practice involves a global black market for instant monetary gain, usually committed by illegal collections and sales of these plants, fuelling their scarcity. Therefore, the objective of this study was to explore the illegal trading of medicinal plants in South African rural areas. This qualitative scoping review was supported by the 2005 adapted version of the methodology framework by Arksey, Hilary & O’Malley, Lisa of 2005 to search for relevant studies from notable databases and internet sources, focusing on South African rural areas and other international countries, optionally. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) will be used for data analysis, supported by the inductive Thematic Content Analysis (TCA).The findings of this study present that the illegal trading of medicinal plants is on the rise in South African rural areas owing to the illegal trading, with the potential criminals reportedly less likely to face consequences of their ill actions and the greatest factor of their scarcity is attributed to this practice, with less efforts offered for greater adequate attention geared towards conservation and safeguarding of these vulnerable plants. It is concluded and recommended that the chain of events of illegal trading should be established closely looking at a period when this illegal action is committed, reported to the selected relevant stakeholders, such as the ‘African National Healers Association (ANHA), Department of Correctional Services (DCS), Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DoJ & CD), PlantZAfrica, South African Local Government Association (SALGA), South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), South African Police Service (SAPS), who are responsible for the investigation, prosecution, incarceration and rehabilitation of suspected and convicted criminals. Moreover, effective deterrents to this criminality should be further researched to broaden access to justice and strengthen prevention, combating and investigative initiatives by relevant stakeholders in the local government sphere, where towns and surrounding rural areas are going to be accountable for the protection and preservation of heritage.

Abstract

Nelson Mandela, one of the South African Icon, the first democratic government president, regarded education as the key to open any door of life, the view that is embraced within the South African Constitution, 1996, Chapter 2 of the Bill of Rights, Section 29 Sub-section (1) paragraph (a) - (b) stipulates that everyone has the right to free basic education, and the State must, through reasonable measures, make progressively available and accessible. South Africa, just most countries world-wide is still embroiled with less economic growth that impact negatively on most citizens daily lives, something that pushes others to opt to criminal activities, the action that is spreading to schools that was supposed to be a crime free zone area. This study was applied following the qualitative research approach, aided by the case study research design, supported by evaluative research objective. This study was confined to the Gauteng Province, focusing on Tshwane District secondary schools (D4) comprising 04 clusters. The non-probability: Purposive sampling was adopted to select seven (7) school principals, seven (7) deputy principals, and six (6) educators, five (5) learner representatives council members, and 5 SGB chairpersons. In total, thirty (30) participants formed part of this study, and they were all subjected to the unstructured face-to-face interviews. This data collection tool was complimented with literature studies. The inductive Thematic Content Analysis (TCA) was used for data analysis. The findings, based on the criminal activities the schools’ experiences indicate the lack of effective safety and security measures in place, the situation resulting as the predisposing factors for the criminals viewing a school as the soft target to commit robbery. Both educators and learners view themselves vulnerable to criminals, something that makes schools a risky area and not conducive to perform their tasks of educating and learning respectively. As a result, in line with the constitution, 1996, it is concluded and recommended that risk assessment in every school is conducted and provided with security measures that is deemed necessary to promote safety and security for both educators, learners, and everyone within for free and better education as everyone believe in.
