Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection due to the proliferation of microorganisms in the urinary tract. UTI is usually occur in the community at various ages. In 2014, Indonesian Ministry of Health showed that the number of people with UTIs reached 90-100 cases per 100,000 population per year. Antibiotics are the main therapy used in treating urinary tract infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of antibiotic prescribing in UTI patients and determine the suitability of therapy with guidelines for UTI at the Installation of NTB Provincial Hospital in 2017. The design of this study was descriptive by collecting data retrospectively. The study was conducted on 105 UTI patients at the Installation Hospital of NTB Province in 2017, then the data obtained from the medical record and prescription sections were processed using Microsoft Excel software. The results showed that therapy for UTI patients was antibiotics with the most use of ciprofloxacin (45.71%), then cefixime (40%), urinter (pipemidic acid) (11.43%), levofloxacin (1.90%), cefadroxil (0.95 %). Based on these results, the suitability of prescription was seen from the type of drug and the dosage in the main therapy (antibiotics) was 100% according to the treatment guidelines, but the frequency and duration of administration only reached 99.05% and 88.6%.

Abstract

Infectious disease still remains a serious problem in Indonesia and worldwide, it leads to use of uncontrollable anti-microbial treatment with cause to drug resistance. With unsupported condition for using a sensitivity test prior to antimicrobial treatment, a common guide for choosing an antimicrobial agent for infection of specific specimen is needed. The aims of this research is to determine the pattern of bacteria, more specific specimen is urine. This research was an observational Experimental consecutive sampling study, sample for this research were taken from inpatient room of Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital of Makassar during 2019-2020. The largest number of pathogenic bacteria that potentially becoming infection agent in inpatient room of Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar was E.coli, P.Aureginosa and Acinetobacter. Most of antimicrobial found in range of 61-70 years Old, and there was no significant relationship between sex and infections Sickness

Abstract

Abstrak: Bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are known to have antioxidant effects that can neutralize free radicals found in the skin. The objectives of this research are to formulate the ethanol extract of bay leaves into gel formulation and evaluate the physical properties of gel formulation. Ethanol extract of bay leaves was obtained through the maceration method with 70 % ethanol as a solvent. The thick ethanol extract of bay leaves was formulated into gel formulation with CMC – Na as a gelling agent, glycerin as a humectant, methyl paraben as a preservative, and aquadest as a solvent. After the freeze-thaw test was done, there was no change found in organoleptic but there were changes in pH, spreadability, and adhesion. The pH of gel preparation before being in storage was 5 and after being in storage was 6. In the spreadability, gel formulation spread 5,5 cm before being in the storage, and 5,1 cm after being in the storage. Gel adhesion has a sticky time of 8.35 seconds before in being storage and 8.45 seconds after being in storage.

Abstract

Management of drug is one of the factors which contribute to the quality of hospital services. This study aimed at finding out drug planning in Pharmacy Unit of Adelia Surgical Hospital by using ABC analysis method. This research is qualitative descriptive study involving informants. Primary data were collected by interview with respondents and secondary data report of general drugs purchased period of May 2018 – May 2019. The Result using ABC analysis indicate that there are 23 (17,42%) kindof drugs in group A, 35 (26,52%) in group B and 74 (56,06%) in grup C. Group A if in the event of an excess or deficiency will couse harm to the hospital. ABC analysis method will effectively improve hospital drug consumption plan.

Abstract

Dandruff is an anomalous condition characterized by excessive exfoliation of the horny layer from the scalp. The leaves of the water henna plant (Impatiens balsamina L.) are one of the natural ingredients that have anti-dandruff properties, so they can be used as an active ingredient in making dandruff shampoo. The water henna leaves were extracted using the maceration method with ethanol 96%. Apart from the active ingredients, shampoo also has an important component, namely surfactants. The surfactant used in this study was a combination of sodium lauryl sulfate and cocamide DEA. The purpose of this study was to optimize the surfactant formula of sodium lauryl sulfate and cocamide DEA in water henna leaf extract shampoo. This research was a laboratory experimental research. Formula optimization was done through the Simplex Latice Design (SLD) method approach by making eight formulas. All formulas were evaluated for their physical properties including the foam height test and pH test. The data obtained were processed with Design Expert® software. Based on the physical evaluation of the water henna leaf extract shampoo, the results of the high foam test were 10,025 cm and a pH of 6,12. The results of the acceptability test of shampoo preparations including the parameters of color, smell, texture and viscosity received a fairly good response with the acquisition of values 3,1, 3,3, 3,9 and 4 with information 1 (very dislike), 2 (dislike), 3 (quite like), 4 (like) and 5 (really like). The optimum formula for the shampoo consisting of 5% water henna leaf extract, 1,1863% sodium lauryl sulfate, 19,814% cocamide DEA, 3% CMC, 0,5% citric acid, 0,5% methyl paraben, 0,15% menthol and distilled water had physical properties that meet the requirements of a good shampoo preparation.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disorder of insulin secretion, insulin action or both, which are characterized by blood glucose levels > 200 mg/dl and / or fasting blood glucose levels > 126 mg/dl. In 2017 Indonesia was recorded as the sixth largest country with DM in the world. The most common classification of diabetes is type 2 DM with an incidence 90-95%. The study aimed to determine the profile of antidiabetic use in type 2 DM patients at the outpatient installation of RSUD Provinsi NTB in 2018. This study used cross sectional design retrospectively with purposive sampling method for the period January-December 2018. The results showed that in 112 patients, 195 antidiabetic agents were prescribed. The antidiabetic prescribed were metformin (33.85%), glimepirid (25.13%), aspart insulin (13.33%), insulin detemir (8.21%), pioglitazone (6.67%), insulin glargine (6.67%), glyclazide (1.54%), gliquidone (1.54%), acarbose (1.54), regular insulin (1.03%), and insulin lispro (0.51%). Overall, antidiabetic use was in accordance with the guideline recommendations. Further research is needed regarding the review of prescriptions and detailed indications in order to increase rationality of drug use, reduce morbidity and mortality and reduce medical costs.

Abstract

The ethnomedicinal study which conducted in East Lombok revealed 5 potentially plants that have wound healing properties (Jatropha multifida L., Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L.) Vahl, Centella asiatica (L.) Urban, Euphorbia pulcherrima Willd, and Angelica keiskei). The five plants have been no further research related to the presence of compounds that have activity in wound healing. This study aims to screen the plants secondary metabolites from above plants. The sample was maserated with 96% solvent methanol. The viscous extract was determined by physical characterization including consistency and color as well as chemical characterization, namely the phytochemical screening test. The results showed that the five plants contained flavonoids, phenolics, saponins, and steroids, except for Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L.) Vahl showed negative results for saponins and Angelica keiskei showed negative results for steroid compounds. Keywords: phytochemical screening, total phenolic content, wound healing herbs, East Lombok
