Abstract

Rural areas in Indonesia generally have the potential for agriculture but there is little industrial sector orientation, especially in the agricultural product processing sector. For this reason, it is necessary to integrate the sectoral and regional planning through the formulation of a development strategy by considering several basic conditions (local potential) so that each stage of development will be clear. Therefore it is necessary to formulate, whether in Lampung Province in the Regency can form a small city by determining the region of the agglomerative hierarchy through the region and the base sector to support the regency agropolitan center. Analyzing is done by using the gravity area method to see regional strength (the strongest regency/city) with an indication of the population, GRDP and also the distance between regencies/cities in Lampung Province. Then to see the strength of the base sector will be done by the LQ method and Input-Output with the expectation of the model used (gravity analysis) that the Agropolitan center can be determined while the LQ and Input-Output models will determine the strength of the "Agro" base sector so that the Regional and Sectoral analysis will the acceleration of regional agglomeration in Lampung Province is seen.

Abstract

Self-managing teams have occupied the modern organizations. Even though it is still in its commencement, the theory of self-managing teams is developing with fulminant steps towards imposing this philosophy to most of the organizations operating in dynamic environments. Thus, studying these semi-autonomous or entirely independent formations is particularly important in order to follow the global trends of management. In this spirit, this study discusses some human aspects which are influenced by self-managing philosophy, respectively it analyses the relationships between team self-management and job satisfaction, motivation and perceived performance. This is supported theoretically by a bunch of studies which discuss predictive elements for creation of self-managing teams, the outcomes as a result of team self-management and others that discuss both inputs and outcomes. Respondents were surveyed through self-reporting questionnaire, comprising of several instruments tested in previous studies. 55 respondents of 19 entrepreneurial start-up teams have been surveyed. According to the results calculated through SPSS, it is confirmed that team self-management is positively related to job satisfaction and perceived performance of team members. However, from regression and correlation analysis, it appears that there is no stable relationship between team self-management and motivation.

Abstract

The link between knowledge, innovation, and technology, as understood in extant literature, tends to emphasize a digital, high-tech platform for the implementation of innovative ideas. This paper challenges this view and details why relying solely on digital platforms and innovation may not let companies reach their full potential. Using examples of frugal innovation, this paper recommends that entrepreneurs need not limit their ideas by focusing only on digital and technology-driven innovation, and to consider the infrastructure realities of the developing economies.

Abstract

Insurance for the workers means a guarantee of safety for their works on the workplaces. It is necessarily crucial as workers need such a policy that can protect them from the loss. Indonesian government declare a policy that enact the act about National Social Security System (SJSN). The companies are the subject of this regulation, despite the fact at the initial implementation of this law enforcement brought to the pros and cons. Hence, the regulation also regulates for those who betray the policy will have to pay some certain amount of fine which in turn can harden them. The companies on the other side have a choice either to register or not their workers to SJSN as they still consider the premium they have to pay. This study aims to analyze the payoffs for both government and companies to be better off from the law enforcement. Game theory perspective is applied for the methodology of the study, particularly Subgame Perfection Nash Equilibrium (SPNE) and Bayesian Nash Equilibrium (BNE). The results present that in condition of an effective law enforcement at p, the firms will be beneficial from the SJSN policy by registering their workers and pay the premium, because if they do not pay the premium they have to pay additional amount of fine. On the other hand, if the policy is not effective with 1-p, the firms will have an advantage by not registering their employees to the SJSN as the law enforcement is not effective. Also, the government does not necessarily conduct an investigation as the cost is higher than the return that they will get.
