Abstract

This paper examines tourists’ perceptions of Eastern Indonesia through comparisons with foreign visitors’ who have been to Indonesia, specifically Eastern Indonesia, and those who have never been to Indonesia. The aims of this study are to assess what foreign tourists perceive about Eastern Indonesia and elaborate the differences between the perceptions of visitors and non-visitors. The comparison of the visitor and non-visitor perceptions is important in order to understand Eastern Indonesia more deeply. This qualitative research uses focus group interviews to assess the perceptions of Eastern Indonesia. The perceptions from different participants came from different nationalities. In Group 1, two participants came from China, two Saudi Arabians, and one Bangladeshi. The four participants in Group 2 came from Australia. All of participants were students. The results indicate that tourists who have never been to Indonesia perceives Eastern Indonesia by comparing their experiences to other places that they have visited. From those experiences, they construct a positive image of Eastern Indonesia and as a result, indicate a willingness to visit Eastern Indonesia. All Australian participants had been to Indonesia and shared a positive image of Eastern Indonesia as well as of other places in Indonesia. However, while participants’ perceptions in Group 2 were positive, they also imply some ideas for the improvement regarding tourism development in Eastern Indonesia. Apart from that, all participants showed an intention to revisit and explore more places in EasternIndonesia in the near future.

Abstract

Insurance for the workers means a guarantee of safety for their works on the workplaces. It is necessarily crucial as workers need such a policy that can protect them from the loss. Indonesian government declare a policy that enact the act about National Social Security System (SJSN). The companies are the subject of this regulation, despite the fact at the initial implementation of this law enforcement brought to the pros and cons. Hence, the regulation also regulates for those who betray the policy will have to pay some certain amount of fine which in turn can harden them. The companies on the other side have a choice either to register or not their workers to SJSN as they still consider the premium they have to pay. This study aims to analyze the payoffs for both government and companies to be better off from the law enforcement. Game theory perspective is applied for the methodology of the study, particularly Subgame Perfection Nash Equilibrium (SPNE) and Bayesian Nash Equilibrium (BNE). The results present that in condition of an effective law enforcement at p, the firms will be beneficial from the SJSN policy by registering their workers and pay the premium, because if they do not pay the premium they have to pay additional amount of fine. On the other hand, if the policy is not effective with 1-p, the firms will have an advantage by not registering their employees to the SJSN as the law enforcement is not effective. Also, the government does not necessarily conduct an investigation as the cost is higher than the return that they will get.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of largest users of sharia-based compliant recently which bring into many concerns how the sharia stocks listing in the most valuable sharia stocks index in Indonesia perform and correlate with other variables, particularly exchange rates. The study aims to analysis the causal relationship and to forecast the performances of sharia-based stocks and its Islamic index in Indonesia along with the volatility of exchange rate. Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model is applied as the method to analyse the multivariate time series as it is believed as the suitable model in predicting such time-series data in the scope of multivariate variables. The finding suggests VAR(1) model is the fitted model as such to both analyse its dynamic relationship and forecast the data set for the next 24 weeks. While the prediction shows the JII has an increasing data, both ANTM and EXR are predicted to have a stable volatility. In addition, granger causality defines variables to have effect in its respective variables, and IRF describes the shocks in one variable cause another variable is relatively difficult in reaching its zero condition in short-term period.

Abstract

Abstract

Digitalization has changed organizational dynamics and greatly improved operational efficiency in the workplace. Digitalization brings difficulties even with its benefits, especially with employee technological acceptability. This paper aims to investigate how digitalization affects employee productivity and workplace efficiency and to find elements influencing workers' technology adoption. A survey was conducted among 169 employees across various organizations in Indonesia, analyzing their perceptions of the usefulness, ease of use, and management support for digital technologies. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The study indicated that perceived usefulness is much influenced by perceived ease of use, which highly predicts technological uptake. While simplicity of use alone does not greatly affect acceptance without the acknowledged utility, management support is vital in helping the acceptance of technology. For digitalization to be effective, companies have to make sure staff members view these technologies as helpful in addition to using simple, user-friendly solutions. Technology adoption depends on a favorable environment, greatly fostered by management support.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of financial flexibility, earnings volatility, and asset structure on the capital structure of companies operating in the heavy construction and civil engineering subsector of Indonesia’s infrastructure industry, listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2021 and 2024. Employing panel data regression on 285 firm-year observations, the research identifies several critical insights. First, financial flexibility approximated by the ratio of retained earnings to total assets has a positive and statistically significant relationship with capital structure. This suggests that firms with greater internal financial strength tend to rely more on debt financing when additional funding is required, allowing them to respond efficiently to financial risks and investment opportunities in this capital-intensive environment. Second, earnings volatility, calculated as the standard deviation of return on assets (ROA), does not exhibit a significant influence on capital structure decisions. This outcome indicates that income variability does not markedly affect firms’ use of debt, likely due to their ability to manage unstable earnings through adaptive financial practices. Lastly, asset structure—measured by the proportion of fixed assets to total assets—also shows no significant correlation with capital structure. This result challenges the universal applicability of the pecking order theory, especially within industries characterized by high capital demands and unique risk profiles, such as heavy construction. The findings offer valuable insights by analyzing financial decision-making in a capital-intensive sector within a developing economy and highlight the potential need to reconsider traditional capital structure theories in specific industry contexts.

This study aims to analyze the market reaction to the BI Rate policy event by Bank Indonesia in 2024. This research uses a type of quantitative research using an event study approach. The method used is the General Linear Model (GLM) with Repeated Measures to test differences in Abnormal Returns and trading volume activity before and after the BI Rate policy announcement. Based on the sample taken, namely Property and Real Estate sector companies, 74 research samples were obtained using a window period of 7 days before and 7 days after the event. The results showed that there was no significant difference in Abnormal Returns and trading volume activity before and after the BI Rate increase and decrease. The findings indicate that there is no capital market reaction or in other words the BI Rate policy event by Bank Indonesia in 2024 has no information content that can be absorbed by investors.
