<![CDATA[Kajian ini mendiskusikan pemakaian Bahasa Inggris di kalangan penutur Bahasa Indonesia di lingkungan kita sehari-hari. Ada kecenderungan di beberapa kalangan seperti para professional di bidang kuliner, para pemimpin, dan para kawula muda untuk menggunakan Bahasa Inggris bercampur aduk dengan pemakaian Bahasa Indonesia (BI) bahkan untuk ungkapan dan kata-kata yang ada padanannya dalam BI mereka lebih mendahulukan menggunakan Bahasa Inggris. Dari sudut pandang perencanaan bahasa perlu ada pertimbangan dan kajian kembali tentang peran dan fungsi Bahasa Inggris yang hingga saat ini dianggap sebagai salah satu bahasa asing utama untuk komunikasi internasional dan kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan (Huda, 1999; Alwi & Sugono, 2003). Dengan mengacu kepada pengalaman perencanaan bahasa di beberapa negara, Indonesia perlu meneteapkan suatu kebijakan bahasa yang akan meninjau dan menata ulang pemakaian Bahasa Inggris dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat agar dapat memberikan manfaat bagi perkembangan ilmu, teknologi dan Bahasa Indonesia sendiri.Kata Kunci: pengaruh Bahasa Inggris terhadap Bahasa Indonesia, perencanaan bahasa di Indonesia ]]>

<![CDATA[This paper is entitled “Competition Frame on MotoGP Articles: A Cognitive Linguistic Approach.” This research is aimed to identify two main points: (1) the elements of the competition frame found in MotoGP articles and (2) to identify the most frequent element that occurs in MotoGP articles. This research employs the syntactic approach and uses the descriptive qualitative method. The siginificance of this study is to give information about the competition frame on sport articles as part of linguistic variety. The result of this research shows there are six elements used on the articles: competition, participant, place, prize, rank and score and value. Then, the most frequent words that occur on the MotoGP articles are dominated by the participant elements (92.85%) and rank and score elements (28.57%).Key words: frame semantic, cognitive linguistics, competition element]]>

<![CDATA[This paper reports the study of language of classification on accounting texts using the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) framework. It focuses on how language of classification is realized structurally on a such text. The studies conducted by Wignell, Martin and Eggins (1993) focusing on physical geography texts and Khorina, Suyatna and Indira (2017) concerning with electronics engineering texts, identified that classification was realized either by intensive or possessive relational process clauses working on attribute mode. In relation to the prior studies, the data were collected from two accounting textbooks used as references by the students of Accounting Department at PoliteknikNegeri Bandung (Polban). Both of the types of relational process clauses were found in the texts consisting of 14 clauses classified as intensive and 17 belonging to possessive ones. Both types of the clauses contain attributive relational process. The attributive relational process occuring in intensive relational process clauses is realized solely by verb be. However, the relational process which appears in possessive relational process is realized by several verbs which are break, classify, consist, divide, and include. The implication of this study is not only for modelling English grammar of Accounting texts, but also for translation study.Key words: SFL, classification, intensive relational process clause, possessive relational process clause]]>

<![CDATA[Kolokasi merupakan fitur bahasa yang menjadi ciri utama kualitas berbahasa seorang pemelajar. Penguasaan atau kompetensinya menjadi bagian penting dari kompetensi komunikasi penutur asli (Bazzaz & Samad, 2011). Penelitian kolokasi yang membahas pengetahuan kolokasi secara lebih spesifik dengan memilahnya ke dalam kompetensi produktif dan reseptif masih sedikit (Henriksen, 2013). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap tingkat kompetensi produktif dan reseptif kolokasi tipe v+n dan adj+n subjek penelitian, 49 mahasiswa semester empat Jurusan Bahasa Inggris, dan hubungan antara kompetensi kolokasi produktif dan reseptif mereka dengan keterampilan menulis. Untuk tujuan tersebut, penelitian kualitatif ini mengaplikasikan tiga instrumen,blank-filling test of English collocations untuk memperoleh data mengenai tingkat kompetensi kolokasi produktif,multiple-choice test of English collocations untuk mengetahui tingkat kompetensi kolokasi reseptif, dan writing test untuk mengungkap tingkat keterampilan menulis subjek. Analisis terhadap instrumen menghasilkan temuan bahwa nilai kompetensi produktif kolokasi v+n dan adj+n cukup baik tapi lebih rendah daripada nilai kompetensi reseptif dua tipe kolokasi tersebut. Analisis juga menunjukkan subjek meraih keterampilan menulis level 4 (cukup baik) tapi dengan beberapa catatan. Analisis lebih jauh menunjukkan kompetensi kolokasi produktif memiliki pengaruh lebih besar terhadap keterampilan menulis daripada kompetensi kolokasi reseptif.Pengajaran kolokasi (terutama untuk penguasaan kompetensi produktif) perlu diberikan untuk meningkatkan kualitas tulisan pemelajar.Kata kunci: kolokasi, kompetensi produktif, kompetensi reseptif, kompetensi komunikasi kualitatif]]>

<![CDATA[This paper will present the results of the study of circumstantial relational process clauses in scientific texts, especially in mechanical engineering ones. This study is aimed to identify the relational process occurring in Circumstantial relational process clauses and analyze the lexical verbs realizing the relational processes. To conduct the study, three mechanical engineering textbooks used as references by Mechanical Engineering Students of Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban) were used as the source for collecting the data. The method used in this study was qualitative one and Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) framework was applied to analyze the data. The results showed attributive relational process occur more frequently than identifying one. The attributive relational process was realized by various lexical verbs. The account of this will be presented in the rest of the his paper.
