Abstract

A study on fish biodiversity of Kampar River has been conducted. The study aimed at evaluatingthe existence of inhabiting fish species in the river and tributaries, in response to frequentdisturbance of water quality and quantity regime, due to anthropogenic factors. It revealed thatfish community found comprises of 9 ordo, 23 family, 40 genus, and of 58 species. Fish of familyCyprinidae, Bagridiae and Siluridae, were dominant in all sampling area with 25, 4 and 4species, respectively.

Abstract

ABSTRACTDinoflagellates are group of phytoplankton that is besides plankton are also benthic. Its abundance in the waters may cause red tide phenomenon. Abundance of Benthic Dinoflagellates in waters influenced by several environtmental factors. The method used is an experimental method. Sampling using artificial substrates (gauze). The results showed on the Muara Padang station has the highest concentration of nitrate and phosphate are 0,195 and 0,028 mg/l with the lowest value of the abundance of benthic Dinoflagellates 400,4 cells/100cm2 and the lowest concentration of nitrate and phosphate is located on the Teluk Bungus station are 0,033 and0,003 mg/l with the highest value of the abundance of benthic Dinoflagellates 660,4 cells/100cm2.

Abstract

Dumai City as an autonomous region has a strategic location with potential natural resources. With these conditions in the city of Dumai developing economic activities such as industrial estates, aquaculture, fisheries, transportation, tourism and other activities. On the other hand Dumai City also has a stretch of mangrove along the coast which is feared to experience problems due to these activities. This study aims to determine the economic value of mangrove ecosystems in Dumai City. The study, conducted in March 2019. The method used in this study is a survey method. The determination of sampling points was done by purposive sampling in 4 (four) stations: Station I (Bangsal Aceh), Station II (Muara Sungai Masjid Area), Station III (Muara Sungai Dumai), and Station IV (Tanjung Palas) Dumai City, Riau Province . The method used to estimate the economic value of resources is the Total Economic Value (TEV). WTP analysis with the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) is likened to an approach to measure how much willing to pay. Direct use value such as the use of mangrove wood, mullet fish, shrimp, and mangrove crabs is Rp. 97,258,416,000.00 and indirect use values measured from the value of the construction of breakwaters and mangroves as nursery ground in the amount of Rp. 4,616,250,000.00. The choice of value measured from the amount of mangrove utilization as a recreation area is Rp. 1,836,000,000.00. The value of the existence and inheritance value calculated from the community's willingness to pay WTP (Willingnes To Pay) of Rp. 670,080,000.00 and Rp. 233,360,000.00, and non-use value of Rp. 893,440,000.00. So that the total economic value of mangrove forests in the coastal area of Dumai City per year is Rp. 104,604,106,000.00.

Abstract

The studies of Carbon contents prediction in Acacia crassicarpa arounds rawa gambut forest KabupatenPelalawan were conducted. The estimation is generally based on allometric aqualition relating either carbon atbreast height (DBH). Variation of carbon contents influenced by tree biomass and parts of tree. Procedure toestablish estimation model of carbon contents are determining of moisture content, estimating the potential ofbiomass and the carbon contents. The results suggesting that carbon contents of A. crassicarpa of 2 and 4 yearsold 30.53 ton/ha and 43.19 ton/ha, respectively. When the carbon stocks develop using the full range of treewas compared to actual of carbon contents trees differed by 18.85%. The carbon contents were range from23.82 to 33.11 % and 24.84 to 41.40% for 2 and 4 years old, respectively.

Abstract

This research aims to ascertain the influence of human resources management (HRM) whichis consist of commitment management, empowerment, feedback and review and reward to theEMS ISO 14001 performance. The results of multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS19 suggests that management commitiment, empowerment, feedback and review and rewardhave a siginificant positive relationship to EMS ISO 14001 performance with the coeficiencorelation accordingly 0.704, 0.695, 0.809 dan 0.702 . Feedback and review has thestrongest relationship to EMS ISO 14001 performance according to this coeficientcorrelation. The research aslo suggests that there is significant influence of commitmentmanagement to EMS ISO 14001 performance which is indicated by t-value 2.938 > t-tabel1.96, but there is no significant influence of empowerment to EMS ISO 14001 performance ast-value 1.092 < t-table 1.96, there is significant influence of feedback and review to EMSISO perfromance where the t-value 7.174 > t-table 1.96 and there is significant influence ofreward to EMS performance which is indicated by t-value 2.801 > t-table 1.96. Furthermore,the research suggest that simultaneously there is significant influece of managementcommitment, empowerment, feedback and review and reward to EMS performance using F-Test where F-value 130.018 > F-table 2,80 with the degree of significant 0.05 (5%). Usingdetermination coeficeint analysis it is found that R Square value (R2) is 0.691 or 69,1% thatmeans the infleunce of independent variable of commitment management, empowerment,feedback and review and reward is 69,1% while the rest are others factors which is notstudied.

Abstract

The puspose of this research was to study the symbiotic system of a complex microorganisms contained in Starbact® as a decomposer agent with the addition of photosynthetic microoalgae Chlorella sp. as an oxygen producer in reducing organic loads of sago milling effluent. The experimental design was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were concentration variations of Starbact® (0, 0.135, 0.270, 0.405, and 0.540 per cent v/v, respectively) with 800 ml/L (6,6 x 106 cell/ml) microalgae Chlorella sp. added up with waste sago milling effluent into total of 2 liters of the liquid. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analiysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The result showed that the addition of Starbact microorganisms had significant affect for COD, BOD, TSS, Nitrate, Phospate, DO and pH. The treatment chosen from the result of this research was the P4 treatment showed the highest level of reduction which had the value of COD 88,04%, BOD of 85,27%, TSS of 71,67%, Phospate of 48,21%, Nitrate of 71,06%. The result also showed an increasing of DO as much as 3 times from 1.85 mg/L into 5.91 mg/L, while pH increased significantly from 4.1 into 7.4.

Abstract

A clean and healthy lifestyle (CHL) is a health behavior which comes from one’s own awareness sothat a family member or a family could help him/herself with his/her health problems. To apply theCHL among the family or family members, the Health Department of Republic of Indonesia hascreated a health promoting program and has been decided as a flagship program. However, thenational health survey (2010) indicated that CHL nationally was still far from the minimal target(65%) of the year. The same thing goes to the implementation of the CHL in Sekijang Sub-district,Pelalawan Regency. Pelalawan Regency Health Profile shows that of 2010 households monitored,only 38% had had CHL inclusion. The present research seeks to investigate the correlation betweenthe community empowerment strategies and the individual CHL increase of families among theplantation community within the working area of Seikijang Community Health Center, PelalawanRegency. The data were calculated using Univariat and Bivariat analysis of Chi-Square. The resultsshow that there is a significant correlation between the community empowerment strategies and theindividual CHL increase in Seikijang Sub-district. The strategies shows that there is a significantcorrelation between advocacy and individual CHL, p value 0.007 < 0.005. then, there is a significantcorrelation between the community empowerment and the individual CHL increase, p-value 0.001 <0.05. There is a significant correlation between the atmosphere management and the CHL increase, pvalue 0.000 < 0.05 in Seikijang Sub-district. It is suggested that all parties be more proactive in theCHL program. The success of the program would have a positive impact on all parties, either on theHealth Office, the Community Health Center or on the community and each individual in a family.

Abstract

This research was conducted at Kuala Enok coastal water of Indragiri Hilir District. Samples of sediment and nypha palm worm N. rhodochorde have been taken from six locations of two villages those were Kuala Enok and Tanah Merah coastal water. Analysis of metal concentrations both in sediment and nypha palm worm conducted by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) Shimadzu A7000. The result showed that concentration of Plumbum (Pb) and Cadmium (Cd) in sediment which were between 74.44 10-2 – 108.64 10-2 ppm (Pb) and 0.55 10-2 – 0.96 10-2 ppm (Cd). While the concentration of these metals in nypha palm worm N. rhodochorde which were between 19,26 10-2 – 46.57 10-2 ppm (Pb) and 0.20 10-2 – 0.51 10-2 (Cd), indicating that the concentration in both sediment and nypha palm worm revealed the positive correlation.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze environmental factors on household food security of rubber farmers in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The study was using survey method with multi-stage cluster random sampling technique. The results of the study indicate that the food security status of rubber farmers in Kuantan Singingi Regency were not secure. It were caused by very low households income. The statistical analysis showed that the components of access to transportation and access to health facilities were significantly influence on household food security. The coefficient of access to transportation and access to health facilities were 127.72 (p = 0.0008) and 114.90 (p = 0.01), respectively. Based on the results of stepwise analysis, access to transportation and access to health facilities were good parameters as dominant factors determining on household food security of rubber farmers.

Abstract

The water system disruption caused by the oil palm has become the issue of the environment. Oil palm plantations rated as the cause of changes in groundwater conditions, for allegedlyusing so much water for growth and production. To clarify these issues will require researchto provide an overview of changes in the water table of oil palm plantations in terms of thewater balance of oil palm plantations. The result showed that the calculation of thepercentage of interception in stands of oil palm has a value of 21.23% of the rainfall. Evapotranspiration in palm oil plantations ranged 68.23-125.63 mm/month, with an averageof 92.05 mm/month or 1104.5 mm/year. The water requirement of oil palm plantations issmaller when compared to the water needs of coconut trees and forest plants such as pine,acacia, segon, rubber and teak.
