Journal of Tourism Sustainability
Journal of Tourism Sustainability (JTOS) E-ISSN 2798-8333 is a double blind review journal published by Politeknik Negeri Bandung. It focuses on fostering and stimulating discourses in the tourism research among academics and professionals. JTOS welcomes articles in all areas of tourism research particularly , both applied and theoretical. JTOS publishes articles three times a year; April, August and December. JTOS only accepts and reviews the manuscripts that have not been published previously in any languages and are not being reviewed for possible publication in other journals. This journal is an open-access journal that can be one of the essential readings for academic researchers and business professionals. <![CDATA[West Bandung Regency is working hard to develop tourism in the southern region as a "sleeping and marginalized" area to become an up-and-coming destination for both domestic and foreign tourists. In addition to adopting the concept of territoriality, tourism planning in West Bandung Regency also applies an approach based on groupings of resources owned. In order to accelerate tourism development in the South West Bandung Regency area, this study seeks to convey the results of a study on mapping the potential for tourist attractions. An analytical tool in the form of a Point Rating System (PRS) is used to assess various aspects of tourism in these areas. Based on the analysis results, three areas of 3 different development priorities are revitalization of tourism destinations, development of tourism destinations, and pioneering tourism destinations. In conclusion, policy and regulatory aspects are very important in constructing the integrated tourism development of the Southern West Bandung Regency. Some aspects that need to be considered in development in the South West Bandung Regency include accessibility, connectivity, and infrastructure provision.]]>

<![CDATA[Global researchers have widely carried out publications on the tourism curriculum. The issue of sustainable tourism has been agreed upon as a platform for the development of world tourism. This study was conducted by studying reputable scientific articles on the tourism curriculum by connecting the two perspectives. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach in the 2017-2022 scientific article, it was found that there are various pedagogical approaches to delivering sustainable tourism materials in universities. Student-based learning techniques were the determining factors for learning success, supported by the strategic partnership of higher education institutions with the tourism industry. Sustainable tourism learning in higher education was a long-term investment in tourism's human resources to realize tourism that can balance business, ecological and social benefits in the present and future.]]>

<![CDATA[The performance of tour guides has come to the attention of many researchers, as part of the disclosure of the phenomenon of prestigious professions in the tourism industry. As an important part of the tourism cycle, the profession of a tour guide has a major influence on tourist behavior and the development of tourist destinations. Using the Systematic Literature Review approach, this article reviews previous research that has been published in reputable journals with various backgrounds of locations and phenomena. This literature review study has provided an overview of the factors supporting the performance of tour guides, namely in the aspects of soft-skills and hard-skills, in the form of communication, managerial skills and leadership. It also explained the impact of the performance of tour guides that have been found to be related to tourist satisfaction, tourist experience, behavior in the destination and the desire to revisit.]]>

<![CDATA[Pangandaran, one of Indonesia's well-known tourist destinations, has never been vacant when allowed to visit, even during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This study aims to understand the factors that that sustain visitors' interest in Pangandaran during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Qualitative description was used in this study by conducting semi-structured interviews with eleven visitors visiting Pangandaran during a pandemic. This study found five main factors that sustained visitors' interest in visiting Pangandaran during the Pandemic. First is the internal factor in traveling to the beach, longing for the atmosphere and nature of Pangandaran. Second is the distance, and the third is the popularity of Pangandaran. Four factors are the destination's affordable facilities, such as hotels and Restaurants. Last is the strategic location of the west and east coast meet at the same destination. Those five factors accumulated a strong power that sustains visitor's interest in visiting Pangandaran even in crises such as Pandemic Covid-19.]]>

<![CDATA[Web-GIS in the tourism sector can be done using website technology, namely by visualization based on tourism spatial attributes that display polygon-based patterns and points of tourist attraction locations to combat overtourism in tourist attractions. With the development of geospatial technology, tourists' distribution and travel patterns can be visualized by collecting data on tourist visits to tourist attractions and their routes. With the YWDM method, this web-gis was developed using the YWDM methodology with several phases according to the methods used. This application uses an open-source programming language, namely Javascript, and uses JSON as an upstream geodatabase. The results show that Web-GIS visualization of the distribution and travel patterns can make it easier to monitor the density of a tourist attraction. It is well developed in providing more accurate information on the distribution and density of tourist attractions. With the YWDM methodology, visualization can be done like the software development stage and equipped with steps in need for spatial data management.]]>

<![CDATA[Participation of local communities is a criterion that is often agreed upon as an important condition for the development and sustainability of all forms of tourism. Local employment becomes one form of recruitment that tourist attractions often carry out. However, increasing local participation in tourism often creates friction between tourist attractions and residents. This research aims to explore local participation in The Lodge Maribaya, one of the popular tourist attractions in Bandung West Java, by investigating factors influencing the community's support for local employment in the area. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire from 59 employees who are locals in the area. The confirmatory factor analysis was utilized to test the construct validity and reliability of the model. At the same time, Partial Least Squares (PLS) modeling was employed to assess the relationship among the variables. This study has found that community attachment and perceived benefits play an important role in the community's support in The Lodge Maribaya in terms of their participation in local employment. The strong community attachments and the considerable benefits perceived by the community are cogitated to be the main factors in The Lodge Maribaya's success in employing local workers. By investigating this perspective, this study is expected to provide insights on how to increase local participation in employment and anticipate the aspect that may hinder the process]]>
