Psikologia: Jurnal Pemikiran dan Penelitian Psikologi is a peer-reviewed scientific journal in psychology, managed by the Faculty of Psychology Universitas Sumatera Utara. The journal aims to accommodate the exchange of ideas among Indonesian psychologists and scientists, but also to disseminate their scientific propositions and empirical findings to the global community. Since 2016, the journal has been published in an electronic form to facilitate the rapid dissemination of research findings. The journal focuses on bringing psychological science theory, empirical evidence, and practice to explain and provide solutions to social and behavioral problems that are especially relevant but not limited to Indonesian society. As such, we accept a wide range of research domains in psychology, including social psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, educational psychology, developmental psychology, and clinical psychology. We believe that human behaviors and societal problems can be approached through various methodologies. For this reason, we accept not only sound and reproducible quantitative studies but also the rich narratives of qualitative inquiries. We also encourage the mix of both methodologies. By considering that most psychological research has been conducted among WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) samples, we believe that it is important to test and replicate mainstream psychological theories and findings among Indonesian in particular and other non-WEIRD societies in general. As such, we promote not only new and novel ideas but also studies that are aimed to validate mainstream psychological theories and research

Abstract

The research method used is quantitative. The samples used were students of 11th grade (N = 190). Measuring tool used in this study is the scale of social support was based on the theory by House (in Smet, 1994) and Career Maturity Inventory (CMI) from Crites who have adapted to the culture of Indonesia by Taganing, Muluk, dan Rifameutia (2007). The data research was processed using Pearson Product Moment. Results of the data analysis showed a positive relationship between the social support of the career maturity with p < .001 Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah siswa-siswi kelas XI (N = 190). Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah skala dukungan sosial disusun berdasarkan teori House (dalam Smet, 1994) dan Inventori Kematangan Karir (Career Maturity Inventori) dari Crites yang telah diadaptasi sesuai budaya Indonesia oleh Taganing, Muluk, dan Rifameutia (2007). Data penelitian ini diuji menggunakan Pearson Product Moment. Hasil analisa data menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang positif antara dukungan sosial dengan kematangan karir sebesar sig p < .001.

Abstract

This study examines the psychological distress of ghosting victims among early adults. Ghosting is a break-up strategy by suddenly disappearing that is popular among early adults because it is thought to cause several negative effects for the recipient. This study involved 160 early adults aged 18-25 years old who experienced ghosting in past one month by undergoing intense relationships through social media for at least 2 months. The result shows that early adults who were ghosted, experienced psychological distress on a moderate scale. Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai gambaran psychological distress korban ghosting pada usia dewasa awal. Ghosting merupakan suatu strategi pemutusan hubungan dengan menghilang secara tiba-tiba yang sedang populer di kalangan usia dewasa muda dan dianggap menyebabkan beberapa efek negatif bagi penerimanya. Penelitian ini melibatkan 160 orang dewasa awal usia 18-25 tahun yang pernah mengalami ghosting dalam satu bulan terakhir dengan menjalani hubungan intens melalui media sosial selama minimal 2 bulan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa individu dewasa awal korban ghosting mengalami psychological distress pada skala sedang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of emotional intelligence on communication anxiety as a negative predictor that can reduce communication barriers in organizations. Communication anxiety creates a threat to the quality of organizational communication, which makes the exchange of messages ineffective, resulting in the organization not being productive enough at work. This study involved 120 bank employees in North Sumatra collected by accidental sampling technique. The data obtained were processed using simple linear regression analysis. The results of the study also show that the majority of research subjects have moderate emotional intelligence and moderate communication anxiety. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kecerdasan emosional terhadap kecemasan komunikasi sebagai prediktor negatif yang dapat mengurangi hambatan komunikasi dalam organisasi. Kecemasan komunikasi menciptakan ancaman terhadap kualitas komunikasi organisasi, yang membuat pertukaran pesan tidak efektif, sehingga organisasi tidak cukup produktif dalam bekerja. Penelitian ini melibatkan 120 pegawai bank di Sumatera Utara yang dikumpulkan dengan teknik accidental sampling. Data yang diperoleh diolah dengan menggunakan analisis regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas subjek penelitian memiliki kecerdasan emosional sedang dan kecemasan komunikasi sedang.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of intergroup contact on social stigma among survivors of COVID-19. Participants were 25 people recruited incidentally. We assigned participants to communicate via a video conference platform with survivors of COVID-19 to induce contact. We measured participants' stigma towards survivors of COVID-19 before and after the contact treatment. There was no significant reduction of stigma after the video conference contact. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh kontak antar kelompok terhadap stigma sosial di kalangan penyintas COVID-19. Partisipan berjumlah 25 orang yang direkrut secara incidental. Kami menugaskan peserta untuk berkomunikasi melalui platform konferensi video dengan para penyintas COVID-19 untuk mendorong kontak. Kami mengukur stigma peserta terhadap penyintas COVID-19 sebelum dan sesudah treatment kontak. Tidak ada pengurangan stigma yang signifikan setelah partisipan melakukan kontak melalui konferensi video.

Abstract

This study examines the extent to which brand image can affect the purchase intentions of a product. Companies must build a positive brand image because the more positive a consumer's attitude towards a store or brand, the stronger the consumer's intention to buy. This study aims to determine the effect of brand image on the intention to buy Charles & Keith products in women aged 18-25 years in Medan involving 141 participants. The data collection method used is the accidental sampling technique. The research data were analyzed using a simple regression analysis method. The results showed that brand image had a positive effect on the intention to buy Charles and Keith products. Penelitian ini menelaah sejauh mana citra merek dapat mempengaruhi intensi membeli pada suatu produk. Perusahaan harus membangun citra merek yang positif karena semakin positif sikap seorang konsumen akan suatu toko atau brand maka semakin kuat juga intensi membeli pada konsumen tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh citra merek terhadap intensi membeli produk Charles & Keith pada perempuan berusia 18-25 tahun di Medan dengan melibatkan 141 orang partisipan. Metode pengambilan data yang digunakan adalah teknik accidental sampling. Data penelitian dianalisa menggunakan metode analisa regresi sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa citra merek berpengaruh positif terhadap intensi membeli produk Charles and Keith.
