Abstract

A design for a single-phase electric induction furnace has been carried out to smelt non-ferrous metals with a capacity of 5 kg. Electric induction furnaces are the most ideal melters as long as the composition of the charge is controlled, including its reliability in the action of stirring the melt, making the homogeneity of the chemical composition of the casting better. The resulting gas and smoke emissions are very low as long as the incoming materials are physically clean. The furnace is designed by considering the voltage and electric current system to reach the melting temperature. The design of the furnace is in the form of a cylindrical cup with an inner diameter of 6.7 cm and a height of 15 cm. The power supply provided is 1.32 KVA and 2 KVA, the energy required for smelting is 96 kJ. The test results obtained by induction melting at a crucible load with a capacity of 5 kg made from graphite showed that the maximum temperature increase was ΔT = 575 oC and the amount of heat Q = 342.9 kJ.

Abstract

The Cat 16M Grader is a heavy equipment that is widely used to support mining operations. The development of this heavy equipment is required to use biodesel fuel (B30). The problem with B30 fuel is oxidation which results in the formation of sediment and can cause filter clogging. Filter clogging can affect engine power and filter replacement time. From these problems, the researcher proposed to modify the number of sediment separator core holes to reduce the filter clogging rate on the Cat 16M grader. Modified number of sediment separator core holes are 40, 20 and 10 holes with 8 mm hole dimension. Data was collected experimentally by implementing the modified sediment separator core on a Cat 16M grader for 250 hours of operation. The research resulted in the number of sediment separator core holes 10 at 250 hours of operation producing the highest sediment volume of 92 ml, the filter with the lowest clogging rate and the lowest fuel pressure difference. In addition, using the number of sediment separator cores 10 at 250 hours of operation produces the highest engine power, the highest filter clogging efficiency and has a high economic value.

Abstract

One of the current technologies is the ability of a capable of running automatically is more beneficial for its users because it can be easy when doing work with more efficient, economical, and practical results. the design of a measuring device can be done with the aim of making it easier for humans to measure cooking oil and minimise the possibility of measuring errors with a tool that is more effective and uses high accuracy by utilising a microcontroller as a measuring device. by using a flow sensor Flow sensor is one of the microcontroller's external peripherals that functions to measure the flow rate. Abstract

Welding is a process of joining two metals, especially steel, to obtain a finished material connection in a liquid state. The aim of this research is to obtain bending strength, impact strength and microstructure in welding joints with various variations of spiral electrode movement, zig-zag and U electrode movement. The welding process uses a SMAW welding machine with a current of 90A, E7018 electrode wire with a diameter of 2.6 mm, the material used is SUP9A leaf spring steel which is made at an X angle of 60°. The results showed that impact testing with zig-zag electrode movement obtained the highest average impact value of 1.33 Joules/mm², while the highest average bending strength value was found in the U electrode movement of 111.2 MPa and the lowest bending strength value. In the zig-zag electrode movement, namely 97.4 MPa, in microstructure testing the zig-zag electrode movement has hard material properties because there is more pearlite phase dominant, in spiral and U electrode movements the material is soft because there is more ferrite phase dominant.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Usability of portable generators fueled by petroleum as a substitute for the community's primary source of electrical energy when the main electricity source blackout is still high demand, limited space for good air circulation will make emissions harmful to users or community, innovation is needed to reduce the levels of exhaust emissions produced by saving fuel or converting the fuel used, using monitoring system user could define how the engine working and make a decision to maintaining or modifying the engine, one of which is by replacing the carburetor in portable generators fuel engine with a converter kit using modified Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG). In this study, the result of Arduino serial monitoring was displayed the lowest use of petroleum fuel was obtained at 36.3 ml/minute (36.300 ppm) at 1000-2000 rpm, consumption of LPG fuel is 5.650 ppm at 1000 rpm, and in the high rpm consumption of LPG is 11.972 ppm, result, the use of LPG fuel in Portable Generators with a converter kit has the effect of using more efficient fuel

Abstract

The maintenance process and preventive measures on paper machines need to be studied further, this will affect the production process and paper machine performance. This study aims to determine the criticality of the drying machine failure and determine the preventive measures that must be taken in the maintenance of the dryer and determine the time interval for the maintenance of the dryer machine components. To overcome this problem, this research was made using the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method. RCM can be interpreted as a process used in determining what to do for the machine, wherein in the RCM methodology there is one FMEA calculation in dealing with critical components in the dryer. Based on data processing and analysis using the RCM method, the maintenance time interval results from the maintenance of the dryer component. The results found are drums/cylinders with maintenance intervals of 82.7 hours, components of all pipes with maintenance intervals of 91.1 hours, and gear components with maintenance intervals of 110.7 hours. The implications for the company's factory regarding preventive maintenance intervals will have an impact on improving the production process and performance of paper machines through early prevention of machine failures that often occur.

Abstract

Pengelasan adalah penyambungan dua atau lebih logam dengan cara melunakkan sebagian logam dasar dan logam pengisi terlepas dari regangan dan logam tambahan dan menghasilkan sambungan yang saling menyambung. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan kekuatan kekerasan, kekuatan bending dan struktur mikro pada sambungan pengelasan baja pegas daun SUP9A dengan berbagai variasi kampuh V, X dan double U. Proses pengelasan menggunakan mesin las SMAW dengan arus 90 A, kawat elektroda E7018 diameter 2,6 mm, material yang digunakan adalah baja pegas daun SUP9A dengan ketebalan 10 mm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengujian kekerasan dengan kampuh V dan double U mendapat nilai rata-rata kekerasan tertinggi pada daerah las yaitu sebesar 28,8 HRc, sedangkan untuk nilai kekuatan bending rata-rata tertinggi terdapat pada kampuh V sebesar 160,1 MPa dan nilai rata-rata bending terendah pada kampuh X sebesar yaitu 115,6 MPa, selanjutnya pada pengujian struktur mikro kampuh V dan dan double U memiliki sifat material yang lunak karna fasa ferrit lebih dominan banyak dibandingan fasa perlit sedangkan untuk kampuh X memiliki sifat material keras karna fasa perlit lebih dominan banyak dibandingkan dengan fasa ferrit.

Abstract

Camshaft adalah komponen yang terdapat pada mesin 4tak yang berfungsi untuk mengatur dan menggerakkan katup/klep (valve) dengan cara mendorongnya dengan dua tonjolan (lift) Camshaft digerakkan oleh timing chain, yang menghubungkan nya dengan poros engkol. Peran vital noken as dalam performa mesin motor 4 tak terletak pada fungsinya yang mengatur timing saat klep terbuka sehingga timing bahan bakar dan udara yang masuk ke head silinder tetap sesuai dengan langkah piston Penelitian ini bertujuan yaitu Pengaruh variasi sudut chamsaft terdahap kinerja mesin bensin, Pengaruh variasi sudut chamsaft terhdap emisi mesin bensin, Pengaruh variasi sudut chamsaft manakah yang terbaik terhadap kinerja dan emisi mesin bensin.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode experimen Penelitian ini menggunakan variasi perubahan poros nok (camshaft) dengan variasi sudut open 350 ex 450 open 300 ex 400 open 450 ex 600. Pelaksanaan eksperimen ini dilakukan tiga kali pengambilan data, sehingga diharapkan data yang didapat benar-benar valid. Hasil pengujian kinerja motor bensin yang terbaik diperoleh pada sudut camshaft Open 40° ex 60° advance, dimana memperoleh nilai torsi mesin tertinggi yaitu sebesar 20,70 Nm dan memperoleh nilai daya mesin tertinggi sebesar 23,08 kW, dengan memperoleh nilai pemakaian bahan bakar tiap jam mesin yang yaitu sebesar 1,524 kg/jam, dengan memperoleh nilai pemakaian bahan bakar spesifik mesin yaitu dengan nilai 0,066 kg/kW.jam, dan memperoleh nilai efisiensi termal mesin tertinggi yaitu sebesar dengan nilai 66,3 %.
