Along with development of Bogor city, especially around the Bogor Botanical Garden and IPB Baranangsiang campus, so it is needed doing study in order to get description about condition of biodiversity at IPB Baranangsiang campus. The purpose of this study is to show information about the condition of campus biodiversity, both the diversity of flora and fauna. The data about flora was conducted by field observation method by census and the data about fauna was conducted by interview and field direct observation, either directly or by voice encounter and the trail left as dirt, nest, scratch marks, footprints, and others. The result showed that there were 34 species of flora found and two species were protected. Abstract

The economic value of Gudawang Cave are still limestone product (goods) which gotten from mining activities and environtment product (service) that has been used as new area of tourism development. Other environmental services such as source of water and fauna habitat have not been used optimally and provide economic value to society yet. The research question is how is the utilization of Gudawang Cave area as economical-ecology can be optimal  and sustainable. It is necessary to determine of the economic value of environmental services as the basis for its management and utilization. The economic value of Cave Gudawang environmental services which was calculated in this study was the economic value of the Cave Gudawang as a source of water, as bat habitat (as pest control and fertilizer guano) based Market Based Approach; and tourism economic value by using the Individual Travel Cost Method approach. Result of the study showed that the economic value of Gudawang Cave karst area environmental services was Rp. 1.222.673.877,00/year. This value were from the value of benefits water Rp. 1.060.680.000,00, the value of bats as pest control was Rp. 10.800.000,00, economic value of  guano Rp. 2.403.744,00 and economic value of  tourism Rp. 148.790.133,00. Abstract

Way Kambas National Park (TNWK) is one of conservation area which has high potential of diversity and ecotourism. Several arrangements applied to accomplish goal of TNWK management. One important thing that must be considered in development is money management. Purpose of this research are to analyze budgeting mechanism, score realization of activity and budget in TNWK management, and also analyze the effectivity of budgeting system in TNWK. Result showed that TNWK got the most money resource from government.. Mechanism budgeting in TNWK dominated by TNWK central office, section and resort had not yet taken important role in mechanism. Base on Likert Scoring, TNWK management almost suit according to good management principal. Activities and budget which implement could solve several problems in TNWK, but it’s still have not enough to optimize the management.  Most of TNWK budget was used for technical support. The proportion of the budget had an impact to the limited budget allocation for the basic activities in achieving effectiveness management and accomplish goal of TNWK. Based on conservation value, most of the budget was allocated to the protection and preservation aspect.   Keywords: Activities and programs, Budgeting, Conservation, Management, Way Kambas National Park.

Abstract

The size and type of animal groups is affected by various ecological factors, such as vegetation and seasonal changes. Understanding of the environmental factors that influence the variation of size and type of the group is important to manage the species according to its behaviour. This study was conducted by using video trap. There were two types of barking deer group size, solitary (97%) and family unit (3%). Solitary barking deer most frequently recorded in secondary forest, while family unit in shrub vegetation. Six types of group were identified: 46% male groups; 32% female groups; 19% sub adult groups; 3% mixed adult groups; 0.003% adult and sub adult groups; and  0.001% family group. Adult and sub adult groups and family group captured most frequently in shrub, while male, female, and sub adult groups in secondary forest. Mixed adult groups captured most frequently both in shrub and secondary forest. Chi-square test indicated that both group size and group type variation were not correlated with vegetation types. Group types significantly related to the time of survey, but group size was not correlated. Keywords: Barking deer, Group type, Group size, Ujung Kulon National Park, Vegetation  types.

Abstract

Javan gibbon (Hylobates moloch Audebert 1798) is an endemic non-human primate in Java Island. Its population decreased because of  destroyed habitat and illegal hunting. One of the ex-situ conservation effort is by building Javan Gibbon Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (JGC). One of the JGC’s purpose is releasing javan gibbon which is ready. Javan gibbons management in JGC should pay attention to animal welfare of javan gibbons. The purposes of this research are knowing the level of animal welfare and preparedness status of javan gibbons for released. The used methods are direct observation to the enclosure, health and javan gibbon its self, focal animal sampling for behaviour observation and interviewing the animal keeper and veterinary. The level of animal welfare of All of the javan gibbons in JGC were in very well category. The sequence of animal welfare level of javan gibbons from the highest to the lowest based on enclosure type were made-introduction enclosure, pair enclosure, and semi-natural-introduction enclosure. The readiness status for release were known that four pairs of  javan javan gibbon   were categories very ready  (Willie-Sasa, Mel-Pooh, Moli-Nency, dan Asep-Dompu), one pair was ready (Robin-Moni) and one pair was not ready yet (Labuan-Kasy).Keywords: Animal welfare, Javan gibbon, Javan gibbon center, Released.

Abstract

Javan gibbon is endemic and endangered species in Java Island, because of that this species needs intensive conservation program. Javan Gibbon Center (JGC) has concern for conservation javan gibbon.  The former research has identified that male javan gibbon in JGC not quite enough to response breeding behavior whose performed by female. Therefore, the research was conducted to stimulating on mating behaviour of male by using sanrego, as one of an aphrodisiac plant with 300 mg dose. Sanrego was give everyday throuhg oral and combined with food. The monitoring start at 06.30 until 16.30 with direct observation, and journalize the behavior in tally sheet between the javan gibbon couple, in particular the male gibbon. The result was show that sanrego was gived the effect to mating behavior of male gibbon, although not until on significant level. Keyword: Aphrodisiac, Javan gibbon, Javan gibbon center, Mating behavior, Sanrego (Lunasia amara).
