Abstract

Coupling is one of the components are widely used in various industries. Coupling is widely used as a power transfer transmission. Coupling have a long life time, it mean coupling was damage if out of the maintenance. The one factor is misalignment. This study aim to determine the effect of misalignment on the coupling transmission to vibration, electric current and shaft rotation speed. In this study, was done alignment process with variations of misalignment on the coupling transmission and was done measurement value of vibration, electric current and shaft rotation speed. The study results show that the changed of misalignment would give a positive impact to vibration and electric current. For the effect misalignment to shaft rotation speed, the study results show that the changed of misalignment would give a negative impact to shaft rotation speed.

Abstract

This paper presented the kinematic and singularity analysis of two degree of freedom planar parallel manipulator or 2DOF PPM, in short, with symmetrical parallelogram chains. There were two configurations of 2DOF PPM that analyzed in this paper, that were 2-ΠΠΠ and 2-ΠΠ. Both PPM were represented on a topology diagram using graphs, respectively. Before conducting a kinematic analysis, 2-ΠΠΠ dan 2-ΠΠ were simplified to an equivalent kinematic chain, which was a well-known 5R kinematic chain. Then, the closed-form solutions for the inverse kinematic and the direct kinematic of the PPM were obtained by using the equivalent kinematic chain. Afterward, the velocity analysis was carried out to acquire Jacobians of the PPM. Hence, the singularity analysis can be performed to investigate singularity conditions that existed on the manipulator using these Jacobians. The singularity analysis showed that three singularity conditions existed on the manipulator, i.e. inverse, direct, and combined kinematic singularity. An insightful schematic was provided to illustrate each singularity condition.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of the effect of the initial angle of cut and depth of cut on the edge wear of the HSS chisel in the wear resistant steel cutting process using a scrap machine. This research was conducted using the KLOPP brand scrap machine, Type 550, Machine Code SC 01, Cutting speed (V) 15 m / min, Feeding motion (f) 0.4 mm / step, cutting time 5 minutes, using HSS Bohler scrap chisel Rapid Extra 1200 (3/8 "X 4") with variations in the initial angle of cutting (λ) 50 , 150, 250 and variations in the depth of cut (a) 0.4 mm, 0.8 mm and 1.2 mm. The results showed that an increase in the initial angle of cut and depth of cut tended to result in an increase in the edge wear of the HSS chisel.

Abstract

The welding use gas of Oxy-Acetylene as source of heat represent one of the way of weld which quite a lot used at field. The test at the result of oxy-acetylene conducted with a few form different of groove, to know strength of weld form groove of test. Objective of the research is to knowing strength of result weld Oxy-Acetylene at steel of ST 37 which is joint on form groove of U,V and X. The result test of strength steel ST 37 with thick the sample is 5 mm which is with Oxy-Acetylene form of groove U,V and X this can be concluded, the tensile strength of weld steel which is smaller than tensile strength of the steel without weld, and weld steel result have the character of brittle and coarse grain. Tensile strength result of biggest welding happened at test of weld with form groove V that is equal to 317.7 N / mm2 . Joint of weld with form groove U have : Fmaks = 16768.8 N, groove V : Maks F = 19856.3 N and groove X : Maks F = 17381.2 N.

Abstract

To increase performance of the tool life can be improved by hard coating surface on the tool using sputtering method. The research aims to deposit titanium and nitrogen thin film on surface of high speed steel tool, and also to investigate the effect of the TiN coating, which was coated by titanium and nitrogen using sputtering DC method, on the tool life. Thin film was deposited by sputtering method in vacuum chamber and flowed argon and nitrogen simultaneously. Trials machining of medium carbon steel material were done at various depth of cut of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mm, feedrate of 0.084, 0.090 and 0.112 mm/rev and cutting speed of 23, 28, 32, 36, 42 and 48 m/min. The results showed that optimal cutting depth of coated and uncoated tools were 1 mm, tool life and removed volume was after coated titanium and nitrogen increased at 17% dan 40,3%, respectively.

Abstract

The welding SMAW has processed in high temperature (1500oC) and variation of cooling methode will give differences of value impact. The research is weld for steel alloy with three variation lap joint (I, U, V) and three cooling media (air, sea water and oil). The analysis and solution of the research conclude that weld joint by using seam V, U and I, has the highest impact in energy and value within the air cooling media. This lap joint inclined to ductile. The lap joint in the cooling media of sea water and oil has low impact in energy and value. This lap joint inclined to brittle.

Abstract

Proses pembuatan silika dilakukan dengan fariasi lama waktu pengeringan sekam padi yaitu 1 jam, 2 jam dan 3 jam dibawah sinar matahari. Silika RHA dihasilkan dari proses pembakaran dengan menggunakan tungku tanpa dibantu dengan tiupan udara. Hasil pembakaran berupa silika dari abu sekam padi diidentifikasi dengan menggunakan X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), dari analisa tersebut menunjukkan bahwa lama pengeringan yang paling optimum adalah selama 2 jam, dimana menghasilkan tingkat kemurnian silika dari abu sekam padi mencapai 97,87 %.

Abstract

Manganese steel is a special alloy steel which has good mechanical properties, especially high ductility and toughness values. This steel has high work hardening capability so it will be easy to engineer. In industrial applications, this steel is susceptible to a decrease in the value of its mechanical properties such as the hardness value due to continuous loading. From these problems, a steel engineering process is needed in order to significantly improve the mechanical properties of steel so that it has good durability and lifetime. This study aims to determine the effect of holding time of heat annealing treatment process on the microstructure and mechanical properties of austenitic manganese steel. This research was conducted by heating the annealing process at a temperature of 1000 oC with four variations of holding time for 0, 40, 80, and 120 minutes. After the austenitic manganese steel specimen is heated for a certain time, it is then subjected to very high temperature cooling (in the furnace). The steel specimen is then prepared for metallographic testing and mechanical properties (hardness) testing. Metallographic testing is carried out to be able to analyze the microstructure formed in the austenitic manganese steel specimens after undergoing annealing process. From the metallography results, it was found that the effect of holding time on the annealing process affected carbide precipitation at the grain boundaries in the austenite matrix of manganese steel specimens. In the annealing process with a holding time of 80 minutes, the austenitic manganese steel showed a microstructure with perfect carbide precipitation at the grain boundaries so that this would have an effect on a significant increase in the hardness value. From the results of the hardness test, it was also found that the hardness value of steel specimens by annealing process for 80 minutes was 39.5 HRc. Thus, the effect of the optimal holding time of the annealing heat treatment process to improve the microstructure and mechanical properties (hardness value) is 80 minutes.

Abstract

Solar desiccant cooling (SDC) memiliki potensi penghematan konsumsi energi primer sepanjang tahun dibandingkan dengan sistem penyegaran udara konvensional untuk aplikasi di iklim panas dan lembab(tropis). Evaluasi kinerja dari sistem solar desiccant cooling ini (SDC) ini dilakukan untuk bangunan pada kondisi iklim dan pembebanan yang berbeda. Alternatif pengunaan sistem penyegaran ini secara teknis layak di gunakan, dengan pnghematan hingga 35,2% dari konsumsi energi primer sepanjang tahun di bandingkan dengan sistem penyegaranan udara konvensional. Alternative dari penggunaan solar desiccant cooling ini rekomendasi dari penyegaranan udara dengan kompresi uap-konvensional dengan desain sistem udara penuh. Sistem solar desiccant cooling ini menggunakan pengumpul radiasi matahari dengan menggunakan tabung kaca hampa udara, tipe ini di pilih karena lebih ekonomis dibandingkan dengan panel PV atau PVT.

Abstract

Aliran dua fase pada pipa akan memberikan pola aliran yang berbeda dan karakteristik slip antar fase. Pola aliran dapat diidentifikasi dengan fluktuasi tekanan, deteksi kebocoran harus menentukan karakteristik (pola aliran) sebelum suatu titik kebocoran dapat dikenali. Pendeteksian kebocoran aliran dua fase adalah lebih rumit dengan melibatkan distribusi fase di dalam pipa dan lokasi kebocoran pada sekeliling pipa. Bentuk kebocoran yang diteliti terjadi pada pipa dengan berdiameter 7 mm dan berposisi pada samping dinding pipa. Pada penelitian ini digunakan dua buah pressure differential tranducer yang dipasang di sisi upstream (sebelum kebocoran) dan sisi downstream (setelah kebocoran) dengan jarak 400 mm. Sinyal fluktuasi penurunan tekanan direkam dengan menggunakan akuisisi data (data acquisition) dan diolah dengan menggunakan Digital Signal Prossesing (DSP) dan Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) untuk menghasilkan Power Spectrum Density (PSD). Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan perubahan/perbedaan yang jelas pada pola sinyal fluktuasi penurunan tekanan di sisi upstream dan sisi downstream, bila terjadi kebocoran pada bagian samping pipa untuk aliran plug, aliran slug.
