Abstract

Water is essential for life. Frequent water disruption in Malaysia caused turbulence in daily lives and   livelihood of thousands Malaysian. The water operators in Malaysia are facing serious challenges to ensure consumers have continuous access to clean water and to ensure a sustainable water future. River pollution in Malaysia had been identified to be one of the causes of water crisis in Malaysia. Hence, a continuous monitoring system utilizing the concept of Internet of Things had been proposed in this paper. Agile model is used due to its simplicity. The water’s pH measurement, turbidity, temperature and flow can be measured and the reading will be sent to end-user. The sensors that detects the pH value, turbidity, temperature and flow measurement of a water sample will pass through the information to the Arduino, and the result will be shown on the mobile devices via an app called Blynk. This portable and comprehensive prototype is suitable to be used in Smart Cities where WiFi signals is available as the transmission medium.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the capability of seaweed (Eucheuma cottonii) as a bioplastic material on varying concentrations of glycerine (10, 20, and 30mL) in terms of (1) tensile strength, and (2) biodegradability. In making the bioplastic, the researchers dried and extracted several seaweeds, used glycerine as the plasticizer, water as the solvent, corn-starch as the thickener, and vinegar to help the starch dissolve easily. After mixing all the ingredients on a hot pan, we placed them on a flat surface lined with foil as soon as possible before the product starts to solidify. It took 3-4 days to harden, depending on how thick the product is. The results in testing the tensile strength revealed that the less amount of glycerine allowed the harder bioplastic produced. The biodegradability test showed that glycerine components caused the plastics to differ in size, shape, moisture, texture, and how fast they degrade, as well as the tensile strength. However, in testing biodegradability, there is no significant difference in the level of glycerine concentration. This study presents how the seaweed bioplastic was created, what it contributes to the community, and how the ecosystem benefits from it, such as reducing the usage of synthetic plastic.

Abstract

Cds and CdTe both are effective absorber semiconductors for thin-film solar cells. It is a naturally n-type material, which has a direct bandgap value of 2.42 eV at room temperature It has great importance in light detectors in this work, CdS thin films (TF) were synthesized on glass substrates by RF Magnetron sputtering technique in an inert gas atmosphere. The electrical properties of CdS were characterized by the Van Der Pauw method. The films showed p-type conductivity, while the films deposited at different annealed times exhibited n-type conductivity. The resistivity of the CdTe films decrease as the conductivity increased. As the source rate was increased, the hole concentration in the as-grown p-type CdTe films increased. It was also reported annealing process affects the electrical properties. Al doping CdS the value of resistivity becomes minimum as the resistivity becomes maximum although mobility has maximum value after an increase in Al doping the mobility value. As a result, the CdS/CdTe thin-film showed enhanced electrical properties for solar cell applications.

Abstract

In the present study, we discussed the best techniques for the clear scan of the spine. For this investigation, it was found that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a better technique as compared to others. It gives proper images and results in the case of hard tissues like the spine compared to X-Ray and computed tomography (CT) scans. It is also better in sense of it has a small radiation risk as compared to X-Ray and CT have some radiation hazards to patient health. Thirteen patients were scanned by MRI technique and the result was evaluated. It is a non-invasive technique and is used for different pathological diseases. It was found that most doctors and surgeons preferred the MRI techniques in the case of the Spinal Cord. Many radiologists exercised X-rays, CT, and MRI methods for viewing clear images of the spine. It was concluded that MRI is the best technique than X-rays and CT scans. MRI is a modality choice for the evaluation of soft tissue changes in the case of Cord. In the case of the Spinal Cord MRI better evaluates changes in spinal cord compression due to its high-resolution property. The CT could not tell us about the soft tissue change in Cord however it more clearly tells us about the fracture of vertebral bodies and posterior elements.
