Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of profitability, firm"™s size, and dividend payout ratio towards firm"™s value with the capital structure as the intervening variable. The samples employed were the manufacturing companies registered in Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2016-2018. The statistic method used to investigate the hypothesis was a path analysis. The result of the hypothesis investigation proved that the profitability brought significant negative influence towards capital structure, the firm"™s size and dividend payout ratio brought insignificant influence towards capital structure; the profitability, firm"™s size, dividend payout ratio, and capital structure brought significant positive influence towards the firm"™s value. On the other hand, the intervening testing results proved that the capital structure intervened in the influence of the profitability towards the firm"™s value, and the capital structure did not intervened in the influence of the firm"™s size and dividend payout ratio towards the firm"™s value. Being able to pick stocks with profitability value and high dividend payout ratio and choosing a large-scale company are the research implications for investors to scale up the firm"™s value. Furthermore, companies can increase profitability, pay higher dividend, and choose a large-scale company by balancing the capital structure, so that firm"™s value increases.

This object research is 233 students at one of Pekanbaru universities, who were selected using a stratified random sampling technique. The analysis used in this study is confirmatory factor analysis from MPlus from Harrington (2009) and Chi-Square analysis to test the significance of the estimated variables. The measuring instrument consists of 3 scales, namely the scale of entrepreneurial intentions, the scale of achievement motivation, and the scale of fear of failure. The analysis results show that there is an influence of achievement motivation and fear of failure on entrepreneurial intentions among university students. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine market overreaction phenomenon and market overreaction impact on abnormal return that moderated by size effect of LQ45 index between five years period (2015-2019). Secondary data on Indonesian Stock Exchange website are taken as samples.   Wilcoxon test and interaction effects regression test are used to prove the evidences. The Wilcoxon test is developed in order to confirm that market overreaction occurs on winner and loser portfolio. The result shows that market overreaction occurs in the short and long term. Interaction effects regression test shows the size effect as moderating variable does not strengthen or weaken the relationship of market overreaction to abnormal returns. The findings show that company size has an independent effect, which means abnormal returns are more common in large companies. Size effect concept does not occur in the Indonesia Stock Exchange, especially the firms that always in the LQ45 index during the period of research.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of inflation, economic growth, and foreign investment on unemployment in Indonesia. Using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) analysis method to analyze the 1991-2018 time series data collected from the World Bank's World Development Indicators database. The results found that inflation has a negative and significant effect in the short term but not significant in the long term in Indonesia. Economic growth has a negative and significant effect on both short and                        long-term unemployment in Indonesia, and foreign investment has a negative and significant effect on both short and long-term unemployment in Indonesia. Through the ARDL model, this research is able to prove that inflation, economic growth, foreign investment, and budgeting are proven to have long-term cointegration or move together in the long term. The four variables also have a dynamic short-term relationship that has a fairly high speed of adjustment towards equilibrium per year. Based on the results, policymakers, in this case the government must provide a conducive investment environment by eliminating the structural rigidity that exists in the economy to attract investment, both foreign and domestic investment, to encourage economic growth and create jobs in Indonesia.

Abstract

Changes in the situation that move very quickly on the commodity market have an impact on financial markets, one of which is the stock market in Indonesia. Therefore this study aims to examine the dynamic correlation between the movement of world oil prices and the Sectoral Stock Price Index listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The data used is obtained from secondary data in the form of daily closing price data for world oil prices and Sectoral Stock Price Index from January 2017 to June 2020. The analysis technique used is Dynamic Conditional Correlation-Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (DCC-GARCH), due to previous studies mostly using a static approach. The results of this study show that the DCC-GARCH value between world oil prices (Brent and WTI) and Sectoral Stock Price Index tends to be very weak. A negative dynamic correlation was also found in the Consumer Goods Sector. This research can be a reference for investors who want to invest stocks in Indonesia by looking at the correlation between world oil prices and the Sectoral Stock Price Index.

Abstract

The unemployment rate in Indonesia is a classic problem that continues to be reviewed. This study aims to determine the impact of gross domestic product, provincial minimum wage, and labor absorption investment. This research uses quantitative methods and panel data analysis, which is processed using eviews 10, conducted in six provinces in Java in 2013-2019. The study used secondary data from the central statistics agency: labor absorption data, gross regional domestic product, and the provincial minimum wage (UMP). At the same time, investment data obtained the value of domestic investment and foreign investment. The results showed that PDRB and investment had a positive effect on labor absorption. In contrast to these two variables, UMP negatively affects labor absorption. The results of this study are essential for policymakers on labor issues in Indonesia. The suggestion for the next research is to use a broader scope, namely Indonesia. Besides, it is necessary to distinguish the workforce into an educated workforce, a trained workforce, an uneducated workforce, and an untrained workforce.
