This study is an attempt to discover the effect of applying Guided Writing Strategy on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The Population of this research was the eighth (VIII) grade students of SMP Tri Sakti Lubuk Pakam which has three parallel classes. The samples of this research were taken by through lottery. They were class VIII 3 became the experimental group and class VIII 2 became the control group. The experimental group was taught by using Guided Writing Strategy while the control group without treatment. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result shows that the value of t-observed is higher than the value of t-table. (5.56 > 1.67 (α = 0.05)) with the degree of freedom (df) = 70. It means that there is a significant effect of applying Guided Writing Strategy on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

The samples were two classes, namely XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2, with the total was 60 students selected by applying random sampling. The sample was divided into two groups. Experimental group (XI IPA 1) was taught by applying Reciprocal Teaching Method while the control group (XI IPA 2) was taught without applyingReciprocal Teaching Method. The data of this research were taken from the students’ score of reading narrative text test. The calculation showed that the coefficient of the test was 0.64, it showed that the test was reliable and the reliability was substantial. There were two data used in this research. They were pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula to show the effect of applying Reciprocal Teaching Method on students’ achievement in reading narrative text. After analyzing the data, the finding indicates that t-observed was higher than t-table (4,00 > 2.00) at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that applying Reciprocal Teaching Method has significantly affected on the students’ achievement in reading narrative text. It implies that Reciprocal Teaching Method is a significant technique for teaching reading narrative text.

This study was conducted as an attempt to find out the effect of applying SAVI model on Students’ students’ speakingAchievement in oral descriptive text. This study used the experimental design. The population of this study was the students of MAN Kualuh Hulu. The subject of this study was the 2013/2014 tenth grade students of MAN Kualuh Hulu. This study was conducted with two randomized groups namely experimental group and control group. The control group was taught by conventional method while experimental group was taught by applying SAVI model. The instrument used in this study was an objective test. To obtain the reliability of the test, the researcher used Kuder-Richardson (KR-21) formula. The calculation shows that the reliability was 0.67 (reliabity). The data were analyzed by using t-test. The calculation shows that t-observed (5.36) is higher than t-table (1.996) at the level of significance (α) 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 68. Therefore, null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that SAVI Model significantly affect the students’ speaking achievement in oral descriptive text.
