Journal of Makeup and Beauty (ISSN 2714 – 5433) journal of make-up and beauty is a scientific journal published by Padang State University in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Makeup Education Study Programs (PPTRI). The purpose of this journal is to publish articles dedicated to fundamental and applied research on skin, hair, bun, cosmetology, SPA herbal cosmetic product formulations, and material research, experimental research, technical devices for the field of cosmetology and education. Abstract

This research was backgrounded by a bath of papaya seeds with the addition of rice flour as one of the basic ingredients of traditional cosmetics as a scrub for dry skin. This study aims to a) To analyze the feasibility of rice flour and papaya seeds as traditional scrubs for nurses, the feasibility of rice flour and papaya seeds will be achieved as traditional scrubs for body care based on organoleptic tests, b) To analyze how the feasibility of rice flour and papaya seeds as traditional scrubs for body care based on organeleptic tests, c) To analyze the feasibility of rice flour and papaya seeds as traditional scrubs for body care based on favorability tests. This research uses a quantitative approach to the type of pre-experiment method. The place and time of the study was conducted at the FMIPA Laboratory and the Cosmetology and Beauty Laboratory of FPP UNP in January 2022. The object of study is papaya seeds and rice flour. The data source used was a panelist of 7 people, namely 1 beauty doctor, 1 chemical analyst, 2 lecturers and 3 Cosmetology and Beauty students who had passed the cosmethodology and facial skin care courses. The variables in this study are free variables (x) and bound variables (y). Data collection techniques use observation and documentation with descriptive analysis techniques that display frequency and percentage. Based on the results of the study obtained in seeds per 100 gr of Vitamin B1 by 0.0004% and Tannins by 0.0031%. Judging from the results of organoleptic tests, it showed that 43% of the panelists stated a rough texture, 57% of the panelists stated that the aroma of papaya seed scrub and rice flour was strongly scented, and 71% of the panelists stated that the stickiness of papaya seed scrub was sticky and based on the panelists' preferences showed that 85% of the panelists stated that they liked papaya seed scrub and rice flour. It is suggested that you can apply the results of this study as a science to increase knowledge about traditional scrubs for skin care.

Abstract

The development of beauty trends in the world, especially hair makeup, has changed and increased. Through technological developments, the world of beauty can be easily understood, one of which is through the use of modified Toba Batak bridal bun video tutorials using the pineapple fiber technique. This final project aims to produce a Modified Toba Batak Bridal Bun Tutorial Video with Modern Pineapple Fiber Technique which is suitable for reference and learning resources. Making videos uses 3 stages, namely Pre-production, Production and post-production stages. The feasibility test was carried out by 2 people, namely, material experts and media experts. On the results of the overall assessment and suitability of this Modified Toba Batak Bridal Bun Video Tutorial, it resulted in an assessment of 95% for material experts and 97% for media experts who were in the very good category in overall results. Based on these results, it is concluded that the video tutorial is very suitable to be used as a reference and learning resource for students of Jakarta State University and the general public.

Abstract

The research was motivated byithe effects of the covid-19 virus felt by Titia Gallery Bukittinggi with many clients delaying receptions until the cancellation of service use. The better the quality of service, the greater the customer satisfaction. The research aims to a) describe the business management strategy at Titia Gallery on service quality during the Covid- 19 period. b) describe customer loyalty to the quality of service at Titia Gallery during the Covid-19 period. c) describe the business management strategy and customer loyalty at Titia Gallery on service quality during the Covid-19 period. The type of research study is descriptive- quantitative. A total of 9 Titia Team members and 71 customers are the Population. Mechanism of sampling with purposive sampling method. The number of samples in this study were 80 respondents. Collecting data using interview, observation, documentation, and distribution of questionnaires in theiform of a Likert scale which is tested for validity and reliability. The analyticalitechnique applied is descriptive analysis, normality test, hypothesis testing consisting of t test, simultaneous f test, and R2 test. The results for the effect of the makeup business management strategy on service quality are 0.431 with no significant effect category, the results of the frequency distribution are 98.75%, the value of the influence of customer loyalty on service quality is 0.00 with a significant effect category, the frequency distribution is 71.25%. The r2 test value is 24.9% where the makeup business management strategy and customer loyalty have a simultaneous effect on service quality. For further researchers, it is recommended to develop similar things in the makeup business management strategy in order to survive.

Abstract

Compliance with the implementation of health protocols must continue to be improved in order to break the chain of transmission of Covid-19. One of them is a beauty salon in Sangir District, Solok Selatan Regency. Beauty salon is a place of business engaged in the field of beauty related to care such as hair, face, and body care without any surgery. This study aims to: a) find out the personal hygiene of employees at beauty salons in sangir sub-district of Solok Selatan regency, b) know the sanitation of beauty salons in beauty salons in sangir sub-district of Solok Selatan regency and c) know the implementation of covid-19 health protocols in beauty salons in sangir district of Solok Selatan regency. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were leaders, employees, and visitors to beauty salons located in sangir sub-district, Solok regency with a total sample of 49 people. The type of data in this study is primary data with data collection techniques using observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses a percentage formula and then the calculation of the respondent's achievement rate (TCR) is carried out. Based on the results of the study, personal hygiene of employees at beauty salons in sangir district, Solok Selatan regency, was considered very good with a percentage value of tcr of 93.51%, sanitation at beauty salons in sangir district, Solok Selatan regency was considered good with a percentage value of tcr of 84.69% and the implementation of covid-19 health protocols in beauty salons in sangir district, Solok Selatan regency was considered moderate with a percentage value of tcr of 77.11%. It can be concluded that the implementation of the covid-19 health protocol is not carried out properly, therefore it is recommended for beauty salons to comply with and implement the covid-19 health protocol rules so that the transmission of the covid-19 virus can be prevented

Abstract

Basil leaf peel off gel mask as one of the basic ingredients of traditional cosmetics for acne-prone facial skin care. This study aims a) to determine the content of flavonoids, tannins and vitamin C contained in the basil leaf peel off gel mask b) find out the feasibility of the basil peel off gel mask in terms of texture, aroma, adhesion (organoleptic test) and panelist preferences (hedonic test). This research uses quantitative methods of pre-experiment method type. The place and time of the study was conducted at the FMIPA Laboratory and the Cosmetology and Beauty Laboratory of FPP UNP in January 2022. The object of study is basil leaves.The data sources used were 7 panelists, namely 1 beauty doctor, 1 chemical analyst, lecturer and 3 Cosmetology and Beauty students who had passed the cosmethodology course. The results of the analysis were obtained in kemngi leaves per 100gr of flavonoid content as much as 0.00104%, tannins as much as 0.0089% and vitamin C as much as 0.158%. Judging from the results of organoleptic tests on the texture aspect, the ratio of 10g: 2.5g got the highest score, namely 57.1% in the condensed category, in the aroma aspect the ratio of 15g: 2.5g got the highest score of 71.4% in the flavored category, at the closeness of the ratio of 10g: 2.5g got the highest score of 57.10% in the adhesive category and the panelists' favorability in the ratio of 10g: 2.5g got the highest score of 57.10% in the like category. The results of this study can be used as preliminary data for the next researchers in examining this problem regarding the basil leaf peel off gel mask to be further refined.

Abstract

This study is based on the problem of dry facial skin that causes a person's lack of self-confidence due to complaints of dark spots, dull, scaly skin, and fine wrinkles on the face. Corn is one of the vegetables that can be used as an ingredient for traditional skin beauty treatments and contains vitamin E which is beneficial for dry skin. The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of cornmeal masks in terms of laboratory tests, organoleptic tests, hedonic tests This research method is an experiment and a type of quantitative descriptive research of cornmeal masks. Data collection methods in the form of observation, documentation, and questionnaires Research instruments are laboratory tests, organoleptic tests, hedonic tests and identification tests. The collected data is processed using a percentage descriptive analysis formula. The results of laboratory test studies are Vitamin A contained in cornmeal masks, namely 82 mg / 100gr, Vitamin B1 contained in cornmeal masks 5.5 mg / 100gr and Vitamin C contained in cornmeal masks 7.92 gr / 100gr. The results of the texture organoleptic test found that 86% of the panelists said the texture of cornmeal was very smooth, 100% of the panelists said the aroma of the cornmeal mask had a strong aroma typical of corn, 71% of the panelists said the stickiness of the cornmeal mask was quite close to the results of the hedonic test the panelists' likeness could be shown that 100% of the panelists liked the cornstarch mask. Flour Cornstarch masks have the feasibility for this to be used as a natural mask for treatment.

Abstract

Online learning is learning that uses the internet network with accessibility, connectivity, flexibility, and the ability to bring up various types of learning interactions. Makeup is one of the courses that conduct online learning at the Department of Make-up and Beauty. This study aims to describe the online learning process, learning motivation, and to determine the relationship between online learning and student motivation in the make-up course of the Department of Make-up and Beauty, Padang State University. This research is a type of descriptive quantitative research. The data collection instrument used in this study was a questionnaire (questionnaire) distributed via Google Form, data analysis used Descriptive Percentage analysis. The research sample was students majoring in Makeup and Beauty, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, Padang State University class of 2019 session A-F. The results obtained are 1) Online learning with an average score of 56.22 and a percentage of 7 respondents (12.7%) having very high learning, 15 respondents (27.2%) having high learning, 27 respondents ( 49.0%) have moderate learning and 6 respondents (10.9%) have low consumptive behavior. Classified in the high category, 2) Students' learning motivation of the Department of Makeup and Beauty, Padang State University with an average score of 56.82 and a percentage of 6 respondents (10.9%) having very high motivation, 19 respondents (34.5% ) have high motivation, 21 respondents (38.1%) have moderate motivation, 9 respondents (16.3%) have low motivation. Classified in the moderate category, 3) There is a significant positive relationship between online learning and learning motivation of students of the Department of Makeup and Beauty, Padang State University at a significant level of 5% with an rcount value of 0.997 > rtable 0.266 and the correlation level is included in the very strong category.

Abstract

This study explores information about traditional wedding ceremonies and bridal makeup in Nagari Abai Sangir in terms of wedding ceremony processions, bridal makeup, bridal fashion and accessories and the meaning of bridal fashion and accessories. This study aims to describe the wedding ceremony procession, the form of bridal makeup, the form of bridal clothing and accessories, describe the meaning of bridal clothing and accessories. This type of research is qualitative research. This research instrument is the researcher himself and is assisted by supporting instruments such as stationery, tape recorders and cameras. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The techniques of checking the validity of data in this study are the extension of observations, increased persistence, triangulation and auditing. The steps to analyze data are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and making  conclusions. The results of this study are 1) marriage ceremonies at the gadang house 21 Nagari Abai Sangir rooms including ceremonies before marriage, wedding ceremonies and post-wedding ceremonies, 2) in Nagari Abai Sangir before the bride and groom are made up first carry out the ritual of eating betel while reciting prayers called pamanih, 3) the form of clothing and accessories of the bride in the gadang house 21 nagari Abai Sangir room consists of suntiang,  kuruang clothes, salendang, orok, kaluang omeh, galang furnace, tarompa tinggi, while the groom's clothes consist of shirts, sarawa rocking saruang cloth, litau bridal accessories, kaluang and keris, 4) suntiang contains the meaning of a bride must be able to carry a heavy burden after having a family, kuruang clothes show minangkabau democracy, salendang contains the meaning of there are parts of a woman's body that others should not know, orok contains the meaning of women must cover aurat, neck jewelry as beauty and wealth sipemakainya, hand jewelry has the meaning to act must have limits, high tarompa contains the meaning of travel must be careful,  while the meaning of the groom's dress includes Shirts symbolizing the greatness of the wearer and having a big spirit, sarawa goyang symbolizes all acts of work must have a size, saruang cloth symbolizes having to obey customs and sharak, litau symbolizes a leader in the family and his people, keris symbolizes a person must be careful and think first before acting, shoes symbolize a leader must manage to take his family in a more important direction  good. It is recommended that it be able to consider and preserve the customs of Marriage in Nagari Abai Sangir in terms of bridal makeup, bridal fashion and accessories and their meaning.
