Abstract

Damage to mangrove ecosystems due to abrasion and deforestation has affected the community, especially those who have a livelihood as traditional fishermen because of the decline in their catch from an average of 50 kg per day to 20 kg per day. This condition has raised the awareness of the local community to protect the mangrove ecosystem by forming the Pokmaswas Masyarakat Tangguh dan Peduli Mangrove Dumai (MASTALI MADU). However, in carrying out its activities there are various challenges and obstacles due to limited abilities, knowledge, infrastructure and budget support. This research aims to develop the capacity of Pokmaswas MASTALI MADU in the form of 1) Individual capacity development, 2) Organizational management, 3) Facilities and infrastructure, and 4) group operational budget support. To develop the capacity of Pokmaswas, the support and role of relevant stakeholders such as BRGM, Riau Province LHK Office, Dumai City Government, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan, and Riau University as the supervising university are needed. The synergy of all these components is expected to strengthen the Capacity Development of Pokmaswas MASTALI MADU in maintaining the mangrove ecosystem in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Nickel mining activities carried out by PT. Aneka Tambang (Persero) Tbk cause changes in the shape and function of the land. Land needs to be restored to its function after mining ends. The restoration of land function is carried out through reclamation activities. This study aims to plan reclamation activities in the mining area. The research methods used are field observation, interviews, secondary data collection, and mathematical calculations. The results of the study indicate that the reclamation activity plan on an area of 88,000 m2 uses the revegetation method. The covercrop plants used are cogongrass. Land use of the terrace system requires 52,800 m3 of topsoil (topsoil thickness 0.6 m). Meanwhile, erosion and landslide control is carried out by making water channels, sumps, and settling ponds. The dimensions of the sump are (1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5) m. Revegetation is planned to use 4 types of local plant seeds, namely 9,777 sea pines; red callindra 3,359 fruits, bitti 3,359 fruits, and forest mango 3,259 fruits. The distance of planting the main plant of sea pine is 3 x 3 m, while the distance of planting other local plants is 1.5 x 1.5 m. Furthermore, for maintenance, 48,885 kg of manure is needed. The findings of the research results help the company in planning reclamation activities and minimizing erosion and landslides in the reclamation area.

Abstract

The Klagison River Watershed has an area of 1.997,6 ha and is experiencing rapid development in the physical field. The problem that often occurs in the Klagison watershed is that when there is heavy rain, several places close to the river will experience flooding, which is caused by several factors, one of which is the runoff coefficient. The aim of this study was to analyze the runoff coefficient of Klagison watershed. The method used to analyze the runoff coefficient is Cook's method, through the analysis of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) on several maps, such as maps of slope, vegetation cover, flow density, and soil infiltration. The results showed that the distribution of runoff coefficients that occurred in the Klagison watershed was dominated by the high class of 69,919% with an area of 13,967 km², the normal class of 21,500% with an area of 13,967 km², and the extreme class of 8,580% with an area of 1,714 km². Overall, the Klagison watershed is included in the high category with a runoff coefficient value of 62,603 %. This means that from 100% of the rain that falls, 62,603% will flow and 37,397% will infiltrate into the ground.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the rejuvenation of plasma palm oil owned by the people in Dayun District, Siak Regency will cause new poverty. This research was conducted in 2022. This research took samples from 3 (three) villages in Dayun District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The basic method used in this research uses descriptive analytical methods. The data collection technique was direct interviews with a sampling of 30 people, from which 10 people were taken from each village. Based on research conducted, it was found that the implementation of oil palm rejuvenation held in Dayun District, Siak Regency did not increase new poverty. This situation can be seen from the farmers' income which is dominated by other oil palm farming businesses that have been prepared by farmers long before the oil palm rejuvenation took place. Generally, each farming household buys at least one plot (2 ha) of land in another area which is cultivated as an oil palm farming business which is expected to produce FFB (Fresh Fruit Bunches) when farmers carry out oil palm rejuvenation on other land.

Abstract

Rawa Pening Lake was be appointed as one of 15 National Priority Lakes (NPD) in Indonesia based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 60 of 2021, so a revitalization program was carried out in the lake. This study aims to determine the effect of revitalization on the population of Hydrilla verticillata in Lake Rawa Pening by comparing distribution data from observations in 2007. The distribution of Hydrilla verticillata was observed directly and the coordinates of its location were determined using the Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine distribution map compilation. using ArcMap Software version 10.1. The results showed that the population area of Hydrilla verticillata in Lake Rawa Pening was 0.029567 km2 or 0.11% of the total area of Lake Rawa Pening and was spread over six locations. There has been a decrease in the population area of Hydrilla verticillata by 1.65 km2 compared to observations in 2007 which is thought to have occurred due to a decrease in nitrogen and phosphate levels due to revitalization activities carried out after the establishment of Lake Rawa Pening as DPN.
