Abstract

Fluid restriction is an important part of the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients to control the body's fluid balance, including both intake and excretion. Proper implementation of fluid restriction is essential to prevent further complications and improve the quality of life for CKD patients. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between adherence to fluid restriction and the quality of life of CKD patients at Dr. Soedarso Hospital, Pontianak. Thin study to determine correlation between adherence to restriction fluid intake and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease at Dr. Soedarso Pontianak. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional correlation analysis approach. The sample consisted of 92 CKD patients selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires regarding adherence to fluid restriction and the quality of life of the patients. The hypothesis test used the Spearman rank correlation test with a significance level of ρ-value < 0.05. Most of the respondents were of productive age (88%), with the majority being male (52%). Nearly half of the respondents had a higher education level (40.2%). The results showed that the majority of respondents had a fairly good quality of life (81.3%) and demonstrated good adherence to fluid restriction. A significant relationship was found between adherence to fluid restriction and the quality of life of CKD patients at Dr. Soedarso Hospital, Pontianak, with a ρ-value < 0.05 and a correlation coefficient of 0.620. This relationship indicates a strong and positive association, meaning that the better the adherence to fluid restriction, the better the quality of life of the patients.

Abstract

Pain is a common complaint most often complained by people with hypertension. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be used to reduce pain levels in hypertensive patients is Cupping therapy. Cupping is a method of treatment by removing metabolic waste blood or blood contaminated with toxins and oxidants from the body through the surface of the skin. This study aims to determine the picture of the application of cupping therapy to pain levels in hypertensive patients in the coastal area of Kendari City. Method: This research design uses a descriptive case study approach, the subject in this study is one case study subject with a medical diagnosis of hypertension aged between 35-50 years, no blood clotting disorder, no history of heart disease, stroke and no history of seizures. Results: The application of cupping therapy carried out on case study subjects showed a change in pain levels characterized by complaints of pain and decreased blood pressure. The initial pain scale shows a scale of 6 (moderate pain) and decreases to a scale of 2 (mild pain). Blood pressure measurements showed systolic blood pressure of 143 mmHg to 123 mmHg and diastolic 90 mmHg to 80 mmHg. Suggestion: Cupping therapy is one of the complementary therapies that can be used by nurses in patients with hypertension.

Abstract

Diabetic ulcers are a common complication of diabetes mellitus and a significant global health issue. This condition is often accompanied by psychological problems, such as anxiety, due to changes in the patient's physical, social, and emotional conditions. Effective anxiety management can improve the quality of life for patients. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of relaxation therapy in addressing anxiety in patients with diabetic ulcers This descriptive study used a case study approach involving a 39-year-old patient treated in the surgical ward of RSUD Poso. The interventions included deep breathing relaxation and music therapy, administered twice daily for 15–30 minutes over six days. Anxiety levels were measured using the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale before and after the intervention. The patient's anxiety score decreased from 70 (severe anxiety) to 55 (mild anxiety) following the relaxation therapy. Subjectively, the patient reported Relaxation therapy effectively reduces anxiety in diabetic ulcer patients and can serve as a vital independent nursing intervention. It is recommended that relaxation therapy be integrated into nursing practice standards as a complementary intervention to pharmacological treatments, supporting the psychological recovery of diabetic ulcer patients anxiety patients.
