Abstract

Pain is a common complaint most often complained by people with hypertension. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be used to reduce pain levels in hypertensive patients is Cupping therapy. Cupping is a method of treatment by removing metabolic waste blood or blood contaminated with toxins and oxidants from the body through the surface of the skin. This study aims to determine the picture of the application of cupping therapy to pain levels in hypertensive patients in the coastal area of Kendari City. Method: This research design uses a descriptive case study approach, the subject in this study is one case study subject with a medical diagnosis of hypertension aged between 35-50 years, no blood clotting disorder, no history of heart disease, stroke and no history of seizures. Results: The application of cupping therapy carried out on case study subjects showed a change in pain levels characterized by complaints of pain and decreased blood pressure. The initial pain scale shows a scale of 6 (moderate pain) and decreases to a scale of 2 (mild pain). Blood pressure measurements showed systolic blood pressure of 143 mmHg to 123 mmHg and diastolic 90 mmHg to 80 mmHg. Suggestion: Cupping therapy is one of the complementary therapies that can be used by nurses in patients with hypertension.

Abstract

Patients undergoing intensive care can be perceived by their accompanying families as a condition of helplessness and life threatening, thus providing an anxious psychological response for the family. Progressive muscle training and autogenic relaxation as complementary therapies in previous studies can be used to help reduce anxiety. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of progressive muscle training and autogenic relaxation on family anxiety, with a quasi-experimental design, pre-test and post-test with the control group. The instrument to measure family anxiety was using the STAI (State Trait Anxiety Inventory) questionnaire. The total sample was 60 respondents who were determined based on the non-probability sampling technique with the consecutive sampling method. There were 30 respondents in each intervention group and control group. The results showed that the combination of progressive muscle training and autogenic relaxation had an effect on decreasing family anxiety, and statistically the difference between the average anxiety in the intervention group and the control group was 14.5 with a P value of 0.000. Further research is needed to determine the standard of complementary therapy in combination with progressive muscle training and autogenic relaxation.

Abstract

Background: Several big cities in Indonesia stated that almost 50% of teenagers had premarital sex. And what is most astonishing is the widespread circulation of sex videos of teenagers wearing school uniforms on the internet. This phenomenon is motivated by the nature of adolescents who tend to want to try all things that are new and challenging. The high presentation of risky behaviour by adolescents needs to be a serious concern for all groups, considering that the transmission of HIV AIDS occurs mainly through sexual intercourse. This study was to see the effect of peer group education on HIV/AIDS on the knowledge and sexual behaviour of adolescents at SMAN 10 Kendari. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test with a control group approach with 60 respondents. Results: There was a significant difference between the mean knowledge scores of the control and intervention groups before and after the intervention with p-value = 0.006, and adolescent sexual behaviour also showed effective results with p-value = 0.046. Conclusion: The peer education method affects knowledge and sexual behaviour, so this method can be used to educate adolescents so that the flow of information delivery is better.

Abstract

Background: One of the therapies that can be used in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients to increase muscle strength is mirror therapy. Mirror therapy is a form of rehabilitation or distance exercise that relies on the patient's motor imagination and imagination using a mirror as a visual stimulation that can be imitated by the part of the body that is disturbed. The mirror stimulates cortical and spinal motors. The parts of the body that are affected tend to mimic mirror reflections, which aids in the recovery process of the extremities.  This study aims to apply mirror therapy to physical mobility in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Methods: A descriptive case study on one subject, namely Mrs. S who was diagnosed with a non-hemorrhagic stroke with major nursing problems of physical mobility disorders and was given mirror therapy. The mirror used is 35x30x20 cm for the upper extremities and 30x55x30 cm for the lower extremities. This therapy is carried out for 8 days with a frequency of 1x a day which is done in the afternoon for 30 minutes every day. The ethical approval was issued by the Ethics Commission of the Kendari Ministry of Health's Polytechnics. Results: After being given mirror therapy to Mrs. S for 8 days, physical mobility increased with the value of the muscle strength of the lower left extremity from 2 to 4 while the upper left extremity did not experience an increase due to more severe nerve damage in the upper left extremity Conclusion: Physical mobility improved in Mrs. S with the administration of mirror therapy for 8 days. This therapy can be applied in health services, especially in stroke patients with limb weakness.
