Abstract

This research delves into the potential impact of incorporating maggot meal derived from Hermetia illucens into commercial tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) feed. The study explores the multifaceted implications of this alternative protein source, spanning sustainability, growth performance, nutritional quality, and economic viability in the context of aquaculture practices. Our findings reveal a transformative potential for maggot meal, as it aligns with principles of sustainability by repurposing organic waste, accelerates tilapia growth rates, enhances feed conversion ratios, and enriches the nutritional composition of tilapia flesh. The practical implications and versatility of maggot meal in feed formulations, waste management, and potential applications across aquaculture species are also discussed. Moreover, the economic feasibility and market potential for maggot meal-derived tilapia products underscore its role as a key player in shaping the future of sustainable and economically viable aquaculture practices. This research serves as a foundation for further exploration, advocating for the adoption of innovative solutions that contribute to the resilience and responsibility of the aquaculture industry.

Abstract

This research examines the intricacies of forest and critical land rehabilitation planning within river watershed areas. Through a multidisciplinary approach integrating ecological assessments, socio-economic analysis, and stakeholder engagement, the study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of existing rehabilitation efforts and propose strategies for enhancing ecosystem resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. The analysis reveals significant patterns of forest degradation, critical land erosion, and habitat loss within river watershed areas, driven by socio-economic factors, unsustainable land use practices, and institutional constraints. Despite these challenges, existing rehabilitation efforts have shown promising outcomes in terms of ecosystem health improvement, water quality enhancement, and socio-economic benefits to local communities. Moving forward, addressing these challenges requires integrated approaches that prioritize ecosystem-based solutions, stakeholder collaboration, and adaptive management strategies. Policy integration and coherence between forest and watershed management sectors are essential for promoting synergies and maximizing co-benefits across different policy domains. Moreover, targeted conservation strategies, sustainable land use practices, and governance mechanisms are critical for addressing socio-economic drivers of degradation and promoting inclusive decision-making processes.

Abstract

This research explores the potential for karst area management to generate state revenue in the Aru Islands, Maluku Province, Indonesia. Karst landscapes, characterized by limestone formations, caves, and underground rivers, are integral to the ecological, socio-economic, and cultural fabric of the region. However, challenges such as unsustainable resource exploitation, environmental degradation, and governance gaps threaten the long-term sustainability of karst ecosystems and the well-being of local communities. Through a multi-disciplinary approach integrating ecological surveys, socio-economic analyses, and stakeholder consultations, this study assesses the ecological value of karst landscapes, identifies socio-economic opportunities and challenges, and proposes policy recommendations for sustainable development and revenue generation. Key findings underscore the ecological significance of karst areas, the importance of community engagement, and the need for strengthened governance mechanisms to promote inclusive growth, environmental conservation, and social equity in the Aru Islands. The research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on karst area management and provides actionable insights for policymakers, government agencies, civil society organizations, and local communities striving to achieve sustainable development goals in karst regions.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of the Educational Forest Program on the welfare of forest edge communities in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Forest conservation and community welfare are intertwined aspects of sustainable development, particularly in regions where forests are vital resources for local livelihoods and environmental stability. Through a mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, the study assesses the program's effectiveness in fostering economic empowerment, environmental conservation, social cohesion, and community resilience. Findings reveal significant improvements in income levels, livelihood opportunities, and environmental conservation practices among program participants. Economic empowerment initiatives, such as alternative livelihood training and value-added enterprises, have led to increased household incomes and reduced dependency on forest resources. Environmental conservation efforts, including reforestation and sustainable land management, have enhanced forest cover and biodiversity. Moreover, the program has strengthened social cohesion and community resilience by promoting participatory decision-making processes and access to social services. Challenges remain, including limited funding and institutional support, but opportunities exist for enhancing the program's effectiveness and sustainability through strengthened community participation, integration of traditional knowledge, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Overall, the Educational Forest Program represents a promising model for promoting the welfare of forest edge communities and supporting sustainable forest management in East Flores Regency and beyond.

Abstract

This research investigates the relationship between corporate governance mechanisms and financial performance in Sharia banks, aiming to provide insights into the governance dynamics and economic outcomes in Islamic finance. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the study combines quantitative analysis with qualitative insights to examine governance mechanisms such as board composition, transparency measures, and Sharia supervisory board (SSB) independence, and their impact on key financial performance indicators including return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and non-performing financing (NPF) ratios. Data is collected from publicly available sources and primary data through structured surveys or interviews with stakeholders in Sharia banks. Descriptive statistics, inferential tests, and thematic analysis are employed to analyze the relationships between governance mechanisms and financial performance indicators. The findings reveal significant positive relationships between board composition and financial performance, transparency measures and financial performance, and negative relationships between SSB independence and NPF ratios. The study highlights the importance of robust governance frameworks in promoting financial stability, sustainability, and stakeholder trust in Sharia-compliant institutions. However, limitations including data constraints, contextual specificity, and causality issues are acknowledged, and areas for future research are identified to address these limitations and advance knowledge in Islamic finance governance.

Abstract

Climate change has become a rapidly growing global challenge and has multidimensional impacts, including on the agricultural sector and food sustainability. This study aims to evaluate the potential impacts of climate change, particularly changes in temperature, rainfall, and CO2 concentrations, on rice production in the context of certain regions. A mathematical formulation model is used to analyze and predict these impacts. Through numerical analysis, it can be identified that changes in average temperature, rainfall, and CO2 concentration contribute to variations in rice production from year to year. The results show that even a slight increase in average temperature has a relatively small impact on production. However, decreased rainfall and increased CO2 concentrations have a more significant impact on agricultural yields. This research shows that climate change has serious implications for agriculture and food security. With changes in climatological factors, comprehensive adaptation and mitigation measures are becoming increasingly important. These findings provide important guidance for farmers, policy makers and stakeholders in designing agricultural strategies that are sustainable, adaptive and resilient to climate change.

Abstract

This research conducts a juridical study of halal certification within the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), examining its legal frameworks, economic impacts, challenges, and competitive dynamics. Halal certification plays a pivotal role in protecting entrepreneurs' products within the AEC by ensuring compliance with Islamic dietary laws, building consumer trust, and facilitating market access. However, entrepreneurs encounter challenges such as bureaucratic hurdles, high certification costs, and inconsistencies in standards across countries. Despite these challenges, halal certification has positive impacts on competition within the AEC, including enhanced market access, consumer trust, and competitive differentiation. Nevertheless, potential negatives such as trade barriers, compliance costs, and regulatory fragmentation must be addressed to fully realize the benefits of halal certification. Collaborative efforts among governments, industry stakeholders, and certification bodies are essential to streamline certification processes, harmonize standards, and reduce compliance burdens. By leveraging the benefits of halal certification and addressing its challenges, entrepreneurs can effectively compete in the diverse markets of the AEC, driving economic prosperity and promoting regional integration.
