Abstract

Existentialism is a philosophical doctrine that has the basis of human existence, then enters the field of literature as one of the best intellectuals and arts to reach humans. Jean Paul Sartre (1905-1980) as the triumphant bearer who declared himself an atheist existentialist. The existence of man precedes his essence as man determines his own nature freely. Based on man's freedom in creating his own essence, Sartre formulated "man is nothing else but that which he makes of himself" which in existentialism itself has the concept of commitment (الإلتزام). Existentialists explain that any action done by humans is the basis of human commitment itself. The relationship between existentialism and literature is proven that some existentialist figures play a role in writing literature, even some of them understand about literature. So is the work of Abd al-Rahman Badawi as an Arab writer with existentialism.

Abstract

This study investigates the active participation of European women, particularly British citizens, in ISIS's operations and propaganda, which challenges traditional gender norms and perceptions of Muslim women in Western societies. The research used postmodern feminist theory to delve into the multifaceted motivations driving these women—from feelings of alienation and promises of empowerment to ideological aspirations—and examines their roles as recruiters, propagandists, and enforcers within the al-Khansaa Brigade. Specific cases, such as Aqsa Mahmood, illustrate the strategic use of social media to romanticize life in the caliphate while simultaneously exploiting women through constructs like "sexual jihad." The phenomenon reflects a paradox where agency is wielded within deeply patriarchal structures, perpetuating both empowerment and subjugation. Additionally, the paper explores the societal factors fueling radicalization, including Islamophobia and systemic discrimination, and highlights the challenges of reintegration for women returning to their home countries. By addressing the gendered dynamics of terrorism, this study underscores the importance of inclusive counterterrorism strategies that dismantle extremist narratives and foster integration.

Abstract

Islamophobia is not a new phenomenon. Scholars and authors have been portraying Islam negatively for a long time. Islamophobia was prevalent during the European colonial era and reappeared with a vengeance following the 9/11 attacks, which gave rise to the "war on terror" campaign. The Islamic threat became a broader ideology and even officially entered French dictionaries. The bad stereotypes that are spread about Islam have increased Islamophobia in French society, which has had an impact on the lives of Muslims in France. Pressure and discrimination are familiar things to Muslims in France. The policies implemented by the government also have a discriminatory tendency towards Muslims. This article further analyses the specific impacts experienced by French Muslim women in everyday life, such as discrimination in the world of work, experiences of bullying in public spaces, and conflicts with negative stereotypes that are often attached to their identity. This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of Islamophobia in France and how this can affect the lives of Muslim communities especially Muslim women in France.
