Abstract

Agricultural mechanization, such as combine harvesters (CH) and power threshers (PT), is critical to addressing labor shortages and improving rice farming efficiency in Indonesia. This study compares the costs, income, and feasibility of CH and PT in Karanganyar Village, Indramayu. A quantitative approach with purposive sampling (40 farmers) was used, employing income analysis and paired t-tests (SPSS 26). CH reduced total costs by Rp3.36 million/ha (Rp22.28 million vs. PT’s Rp25.64 million) and increased net income by Rp5.88 million/ha (Rp12.60 million vs. PT’s Rp6.72 million), with a higher R/C ratio (1.57 vs. 1.26). Statistical analysis confirmed significant differences (Sig. 0.000). CH enhances profitability by cutting labor costs and minimizing post-harvest losses, supporting its adoption for sustainable rice farming. Policymakers should promote CH through subsidies and training.

Abstract

This research explores how customer trust influences the connection between satisfaction and loyalty, as reflected in share-of-wallet (SOW) and word-of-mouth (WOM) within the context of digital banking. This is done primarily in Indonesia, where digital banking is flourishing, and the study conducted is scarce. Design/methodology/approach— A quantitative approach was adopted, utilizing purposive sampling to gather responses from 278 Indonesian digital banking users. The PLS-SEM approach was used to analyze the relationships between key variables through structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings - The research revealed that customer satisfaction is significantly affected by factors such as ease of use, service innovation, and the perceived advantages of a product. Additionally, it demonstrated that customer satisfaction significantly affects both the proportion of a customer’s spending and word-of-mouth recommendations. However, contrary to expectations, the study found no evidence that trust moderates the link between satisfaction and share-of-wallet (SAT-SOW) or satisfaction and word-of-mouth (SAT-WOM) within the digital banking sector. Originality/value - This research expands knowledge in the field of digital banking marketing and builds upon prior studies focused on customer-centric service marketing. The study presents a framework that identifies the value associated with SOW and WOM in a modern digital banking service. These findings are beneficial for digital banks, as they can use them to refine their strategies and operations with a customer-centric approach. This, in turn, can help them build lasting, profitable customer relationships and enhance their long-term retention.

Abstract

Eyelid injuries, particularly palpebral lacerations, are common in pediatric patients and require meticulous management to prevent long-term functional and cosmetic issues. These injuries, often resulting from trauma, pose significant challenges, as they involve both the skin and deeper structures of the eyelid. This case report discusses the management of a 7-year-11-month-old child who sustained a full-thickness eyelid laceration after falling and hitting a stone. The patient presented with sharp pain, difficulty in opening the eyelid, and bleeding. A physical examination revealed a full-thickness laceration on the superior margin of the left eyelid, with accompanying edema and subconjunctival hemorrhage. Imaging tests were not required as no orbital injury was suspected. The patient underwent eyelid reconstruction within 72 hours, and postoperative care included antibiotic treatment and wound management. The surgical outcome was successful, with optimal cosmetic and functional results. This case underscores the importance of timely and precise surgical intervention to minimize complications and achieve satisfactory results in pediatric palpebra injuries. Further research is needed to establish comprehensive guidelines for managing eyelid trauma in children, particularly regarding surgical techniques and postoperative care to ensure the best outcomes for young patients.

Abstract

Pesticide exposure is a significant health concern for oil palm farmers, potentially leading to cholinesterase enzyme inhibition, which can serve as a biomarker for pesticide poisoning. However, the differences in cholinesterase levels between serum and plasma specimens in exposed farmers remain underexplored. This study aims to compare cholinesterase levels in serum and plasma samples from 15 oil palm farmers with at least five years of pesticide exposure. A cross-sectional research design was used, with blood samples collected from the farmers and analyzed for cholinesterase activity using photometric methods. The results showed no statistically significant difference between serum and plasma cholinesterase levels (p>0.05), indicating that both specimens are equally valid for monitoring pesticide-induced toxicity. Factors such as incomplete use of personal protective equipment (PPE) contributed to decreased cholinesterase levels, with the majority of farmers not utilizing full PPE during pesticide application. These findings suggest the importance of improving safety protocols, including proper PPE use and training, to protect farmers from the harmful effects of pesticides. Future research should explore the long-term health impacts of chronic pesticide exposure and assess the effectiveness of educational programs on PPE compliance to reduce pesticide-related health risks.

Abstract

Special Regions are regions that have special government regulations that sometimes deviate from general regulations. The purpose of this writing is as a source of discussion. There are no regulations that regulate in detail the classification or conditions that determine why an area can be said to be a special area or a special area. In the discussion of this journal, it was also found that there was a lack of synchronization of the Legislation for Determining Special Regions with other Legislation. However, the existing law only specifically discussed the Province of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Therefore, there is a need for a law that regulates in detail the classification and requirements regarding special areas or special areas.

Abstract

The restoration of reputation for environmental crime perpetrators after a not guilty verdict (vrijspraak) is a crucial issue in corporate law in Indonesia. Although companies are declared innocent, negative stigma and reputational damage persist, affecting consumer and investor trust. This study examines the rehabilitation mechanisms available for corporations post-verdict, as well as the challenges faced in restoring their reputation. The research employs a literature study using a normative legal approach, analyzing relevant regulations and legal cases. The findings indicate that despite existing regulations supporting rehabilitation, their implementation is often inconsistent, especially for corporations. Reputation recovery can be pursued through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs and environmental certifications. This study recommends strengthening rehabilitation regulations for more effective outcomes, ensuring justice and legal certainty.

Abstract

Language barriers remain a significant challenge in the tourism sector, particularly in Indonesia, where communication between international tourists and local service providers often faces difficulties due to limited English proficiency. Existing translation tools, such as mobile apps and standalone devices, suffer from limitations like reliance on internet connections, one-way communication, and the need for additional devices. This research aims to develop a smart glasses prototype that integrates speech recognition, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-based translation, and speech synthesis technologies to offer real-time, bidirectional communication. The prototype development involved several stages: literature review, design, tool collection, prototyping, and testing using the Tatoeba dataset, which includes 13,570 English-Indonesian sentence pairs. The smart glasses prototype was tested for translation accuracy, speech recognition, and synthesis performance, yielding BLEU scores of 36.5% for Indonesian-English and 39.8% for English-Indonesian, with accuracy rates of 80.8% and 87.8%, respectively. The prototype demonstrated effective real-time translation with speech-to-text and text-to-speech functionalities. These results show that the smart glasses prototype can significantly improve the quality of communication between tourists and local communities, enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesia's tourism industry. The study implies that wearable translation devices could become essential tools in tourism, reducing language barriers and fostering better cross-cultural interactions.

Abstract

Ammonia is a highly toxic substance, and its dispersion in industrial settings presents significant risks to both personnel and surrounding communities. This study focuses on the risk assessment of ammonia gas dispersion and explosion scenarios in an ammonia plant. The research aims to evaluate the exposure risks associated with ammonia leaks, assess the effectiveness of mitigation measures, and provide safety recommendations. The study uses a semi-integrated 2D modeling approach for consequence modeling, with hazard identification and event tree analysis to calculate leak frequencies and potential final events. The exposure risk evaluation indicates that the entire target area is at risk of exposure to ammonia gas at concentrations above the threshold of 35 ppmv, due to high ammonia content in the process flow and operational pressures. Key findings suggest that the most at-risk areas include control rooms, workshop areas, and assembly points. To mitigate these risks, recommendations include engineering controls, improved toxic gas detection systems, and enhanced safety measures such as regular maintenance of equipment, double-door procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The implications of this research stress the need for ongoing safety assessments and preventive strategies to reduce potential exposure risks in ammonia handling facilities.

Abstract

The principle of equality before the law is fundamental to ensuring justice in any legal system. In Indonesia, however, individuals with dual sensory disabilities, particularly those who are victims of sexual violence, often face discrimination and unequal treatment within the judicial process. This study explores the application of this principle in cases involving rape victims with dual sensory disabilities, addressing how these individuals often encounter challenges in accessing justice due to their communication difficulties. The research uses a normative juridical approach, reviewing existing legal frameworks, including Law Number 8 of 2016 on Persons with Disabilities, and relevant international conventions. Through literature study and case analysis, this research finds that while Indonesia’s legal framework provides for equal treatment under the law, persons with dual sensory disabilities still face barriers such as inadequate legal accommodations and discriminatory practices by law enforcement. The study highlights the need for comprehensive reforms, including better training for law enforcement and the provision of specific accommodations for individuals with sensory impairments. The implications of this research are crucial for ensuring that rape victims with dual sensory disabilities receive the same legal protections as any other individual, fostering a more inclusive legal system that guarantees equal rights for all citizens.
