Abstract

The success of a school is highly  influenced by the task performance of its teachers. Teachers' task performance is associated with various factors, including teachers’ innovative behavior, the organizational climate of the school, and teacher engagement. This study aims to examine the influence of teachers' innovative behavior, school organizational climate, and teacher engagement on teachers' task performance. The research subjects consist of one hundred and fifteen teachers teaching from early childhood education to senior high school levels at an XYZ Cooperation Education Unit (SPK) school in Jakarta. The research design used is path analysis with a quantitative approach. The findings indicate that innovative behavior has a positive influence on teachers' task performance, organizational climate has a positive influence on teachers' task performance, and teacher engagement also has a positive influence on teachers' task performance. These results emphasize that schools need to create a supportive organizational climate, encourage teachers to be innovative in their teaching practices, and strengthen teacher engagement in order to maximize overall performance. In addition, the study highlights the interconnected role of innovation, climate, and engagement as key determinants of effective task performance. Strengthening these factors will ultimately contribute to improving the quality of education and the overall success of schools.

Abstract

In recent years, Indonesia has faced increasing social conflicts related to diversity, some of which have also affected the education sector. Discrimination against children with HIV/AIDS, rejection of students with special needs, and religious-based restrictions highlight the urgent need for inclusive education. Early childhood education is expected to foster tolerance and respect for diversity from the very beginning, ensuring equal opportunities for all children as mandated by national law. his study employed a qualitative approach to explore teachers’ understanding and practices related to diversity and inclusive education in a Catholic-based kindergarten (TK XYZ) in East Jakarta. The findings indicate that teachers possess a generally positive understanding of inclusive education, emphasizing acceptance and accommodation of diverse student needs. TK XYZ demonstrates inclusive elements through a strong sense of belonging among staff and students, classroom practices encouraging collaboration, and a curriculum that introduces diversity from early themes. Hidden curriculum elements, collaboration with parents and external stakeholders, and supportive school policies further strengthen inclusivity. Challenges mainly arise from initial attitudes of students and parents, addressed by the school through discussions and modeling inclusive behavior. TK XYZ has effectively implemented inclusive education principles, integrating acceptance, collaboration, and policy support. However, continuous training, systematic parent engagement strategies, and reinforcement of inclusive practices remain essential for sustainability.

Abstract

Aggressive behavior in children is characterized by deliberate actions intended to harm others physically or psychologically. Understanding the development of such behavior is crucial in the school environment, as it affects children’s learning and social interactions. This study aims to examine the case of a child who exhibited aggressive behavior by exploring family factors, parenting style, self-concept, and peer influence. This qualitative research employed a case study approach and was conducted at an elementary school in West Jakarta from April to October 2013. The subject was a 10-year-old boy in the fourth grade, the eldest of two siblings of Chinese-Indonesian descent. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, and validated using triangulation. The findings revealed that the child’s secure attachment changed due to negative family conditions, particularly harsh discipline and reduced maternal attention after the birth of a younger sibling. The authoritarian parenting style, which emphasizes high standards and strict discipline, triggered aggressive behavior. A lack of positive reinforcement and constant comparisons with others fostered a negative self-concept. In addition, peer influence—especially exposure to verbal aggression—intensified the child’s emotional outbursts, particularly during group activities such as sports. In conclusion, children’s aggressive behavior is influenced by interrelated factors, namely insecure attachment, authoritarian parenting, a weak self-concept, and peer influence. Addressing these issues requires consistent parental support, positive reinforcement, and the role of educators in helping children regulate emotions and build healthy social interactions.

Abstract

Working mothers often struggle to balance career demands and parenting, especially in early childhood. This study examines the link between social-emotional development and parenting patterns related to spoiled behavior in children aged 2–7 years, whose mothers work at Bank XYZ Suryopranoto Jakarta. Using a qualitative approach over seven months, data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observations with ten working mothers and their children. Findings show most mothers returned to work when their children were only three months old and spent 12–14 hours daily away from home due to commuting. Although children’s development was generally within the normal range, spoiled behavior appeared, especially when mothers were present. This was strongly linked to maternal guilt about leaving their children, which often resulted in overprotective or indulgent parenting practices. First-born children tended to display stronger social-emotional skills compared to younger siblings, though not universally. While many mothers attempted consistent discipline, feelings of guilt frequently undermined these efforts. The study concludes that maternal guilt is a major factor influencing spoiled behavior, highlighting the importance of consistent parenting strategies and adequate emotional support for working mothers to foster healthy child development.
