Abstract

Write down your English language (United Kingdom) abstract here. This study explores the dimensions of Islamic brand love through a Sufi approach, aiming to understand how Sufi principles can deepen the relationship between consumers and Shariah-compliant brands. Within the Sufi framework, dimensions of love such as Hulla (friendship), Hawa (passion), Ma’rifa (knowledge), Dzikra (memory), and Ru’ya (vision) are adapted to build a deep emotional and spiritual attachment between consumers and the brand. By integrating Sufi principles into marketing, Shariah-compliant brands can create experiences that not only fulfill emotional needs but also resonate with the spiritual values of consumers. The findings of this study suggest that the Sufi approach can enhance consumer loyalty and satisfaction, offering new insights into brand love in the Islamic context. The study recommends the application of Sufi dimensions in marketing strategies to build more meaningful and sustainable relationships between brands and consumers.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of sukuk and Islamic stocks on the development of Islamic finance in Indonesia during the period 2015–2023. The main focus of this research is to understand the strategic role of these two Islamic capital market instruments in driving the growth of the Islamic finance sector, which includes banking, insurance, and Islamic microfinance institutions. The methodology used is quantitative analysis with a Structural Equation Modelling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach. The results show that Islamic sukuk has a positive and significant impact on the performance of Islamic finance, with a path coefficient of 0.846 and a p-value < 0.05, while Islamic stocks show a weak and insignificant relationship with the performance of Islamic finance, with a path coefficient of 0.195 and a p-value > 0.05. These findings indicate that Islamic sukuk plays a more dominant role in supporting the growth of the Islamic finance sector in Indonesia, while Islamic stocks require further development, including increasing financial literacy and public interest in these instruments. This study contributes theoretically by expanding the literature on Islamic finance and practically by providing recommendations for regulators to strengthen the role of Islamic sukuk in supporting sustainable Islamic finance in Indonesia.

Abstract

The objective of the paper is to estimate the expected default probability and credit risk spread of Bank Islam Malaysia using the KMV Merton Model and analyse the strengths of the KMV model. The data used in this research are short term and long-term liabilities data of Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad that we obtained from the financial statements, stock prices and number of stocks traded of BIMB and Islamic Bank-relevant interest rates data that we obtained from the Overnight Policy Rate Decision (OPR) by Bank Negara Malaysia. The data is then prepared and interpolated to match weekly period before applying the KMV Model using Microsoft Excel to calculate the default probability and credit risk spread of BIMB. The result shows that the Probability of Default for BIMB is nearly 0.0001 for the first 3 years of its debt maturity period and nearly 0.0007 and 0.002 for the maturity period of 4 and 5 years respectively. Credit risk spread for BIMB is nearly null for the first 2 years maturity period then gradually increases each year to 0.01, 0.05 and 0.14. BIMB’s distance to default ranges between 9.17-10.01. The research indicates that the BIMB’s calculated PD is reliable and that the KMV Merton Model provides high accuracy and reliability of credit risk measurements. The KMV Model can be applied to different types of companies including Islamic Bank.
