Abstract

Bentenancloth is a Minahasa traditional fabric cloth which is the only craft of weavingfrom Minahasa people that has a very long journey of history. The existence ofthis cloth cannot be separated from the cultural and historical activities ofMinahasa tribe, where this cloth reflects the symbol of social status andbecome the part of life principal acted by the Minahasa people.Theobjectives of this research are to describe : 1) The name of motifs and lingualmeaning of Bentenan  cloth, 2) Thecultural meaning behind the Bentenan cloth motifs.This research conduct in theform of qualitative-descriptive. The data taken from the books contains aboutthe history of Minahasa especially the Bentenan cloth, proposed by the formerresearchers and the culture expert of Minahasa. Fromthe result, it can be conclude that cultural meaning behind the name ofBentenan cloth motifs reflects the whole aspects of life especially theirbelieves on something considered being exist around them. The cultural meaningfromeach motifs carryingessential norm that people should know whether it isallowed to do and whether is not.KeyWords : The cultural meaning, The motifs in Bentenan cloth.

Abstract

The objectives of the study are toidentify the form of  noun phrase inGorontalo language and to analyze the normaland abnormal mapping of noun phrasein Gorontalo language by using tagmemic analysis. The results of the study showthat (1) noun phrases in Gorontalo language consist of (a) N = +Det +H:n; (b) N= +H:n +Mod:n; (c) N = +H:n +Mod:adj; (d) N = +H:n +Mod:v;(4) N = +H:n +Mod:adv; (e) N = +H:n +Qn:qn; (f) N = +H:n +Det:det;(g) Nco = +H1:N/n +C:c (wau) +H2:N/n and Nco= +H1:N +C:c (woli/wole/wolilei/wolemei) +H2:n; (h) N =+H:n +Mod:RA; (i) N = +H:n +Id:rel.Cl; (2) In normal mapping nounphrase fills the subject, object, and complement slot. Abnormal mapping consistsof layering, back-looping and level skipping. In layering, noun phrase filledby noun phrase, adjectival phrase, numeral phrase and relator axis phrase(locational and temporal) as direct element; in back-looping noun phrase isfilled by relative clause as direct element; in level skipping noun phrase isfilled by bound morpheme (possesive marker) as direct element.Keywords:Noun Phrase, Gorontalo Language, Tagmemic Analysis

Abstract

Pagu (Isam) language is a member of the NorthHalmaheran family of the West Papuan phylum. Pagu (Isam) Language is  the language is almost extinctbecauseitsspeakers are less. Because of that problem the author hopes this research willbe motivate the other writersto preserve local languages in a study.This research is a description about personal pronounin Pagu (Isam) language. Personal pronounrefers to a specific person or thing and changes its form to indicate person, number, gender, and function.The problems of this research are what are the form and function used in the sentence of Pagu (Isam)language.The result of this research will be concluded not only descriptionaboutpersonal pronoun in Pagu (Isam) language but also one aspect of personal pronounthatnot yet known there are third personal pronoun with neutral gender andthenat possessive pronoun we just need to add“to”as a marker that it is possessive pronoun.Key word: Description, Personal Pronoun, Pagu (Isam) Language

Abstract

Kapoya village is located in SouthMinahasa precisely in the District Suluun-Tareran. Problems of this research,what is the folk songs in Tontemboan areas that exist in Kapoya village andwhat is the function, what cultural meanings contained in the Tontemboan folksongs, and why villagers of Kapoya still sing the Tontemboan folk songs basedon their reflected the mindset. The purpose of this study is to identify the Tontemboanfolk songs and explain its function, explains the cultural meaning of theTontemboan folk songs, and explain the reason for the villagers of Kapoya stillsing the Tontemboan folk songs based on their reflected the mindset.This study used descriptive method withqualitative approach. The observation point chosen five informants. The firstone as the main informant and the other as a companion. In this study,collected twenty-seven folk songs in Tontemboan.In terms of meaningful culturalTontemboan folk songs in the Kapoya village and their functions, which consistsof 27 traditional songs and their functions. In terms of cultural meaningscontained in Tontemboan folk songs have some deep meaning, such as the peopleof Kapoya village who believe in the power of God as the Creator, the publicbelieves that happen compassion into the new year is a joy to remember therelatives and siblings. In terms of folk songs sung reason thatis the mindset of the villagers of Kapoya, namely as guidelines, instructions,and the correct way for a person to live a life based onwhat he believes and meaningful bring compassion, happy, respectful, and proudof the life lived in the Kapoya village.Keywords: Culture, Tontemboan, Kapoya

Abstract

This study is conducted in order to describe the development model ofconstructivistic teaching in Indonesian language for the sake of maximizing thestudents’ attitude in critical thinking. Operationally this study is done inorder to describe the concept and strategy model and the materials of constructivisticIndonesian language teaching developed by the teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Rembokenfor the sake of maximizing the students’ attitude in critical thinking. TheIndonesian language teachers’ concept on the planning and the conduction ofconstructivistic teaching related to what Indonesian language teaching is, howthe textbook and the materials are used, the purpose of Indonesian languageteaching is, the role of the teacher, the role of the students in the teachingand learning process, the use of teaching methods and media, and the procedureof the conduction of constructivistic Indonesian language teaching and learningprocess in the classroom, was not done by the teachers when they were observed.Their constructivistic teaching attitude is very minimal.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the process of Cuci Negeri Soyacustomary ceremony, to identify the type of language expression and to analyzethe language expression dan cultural meaning in customary ceremony as well asto explain of Soya society`s mindset based on cultural meaning in languageexpression in Soya customary ceremony. This study was conducted in Soyavillage, located in Ambon city which still used tana language. This study usedqualitative descriptive method. The data is collected by using interviewtechnique and analyzed by Miles and Huberman model data analysis, such as datareduction, data display, and data conclusion. The results show that thelanguage expressions found in Cuci Negeri Soya is kapata which delivered by thecustom head and 8 songs sung by the member of customary ceremony. From thoselanguage expression, it was identified 12 language expression containingcultural meaning which categorized to some types of expression. The types ofexpression consist of 1 greeting expression, 2 respect expressions, 4 prayexpressions, 2 advise expressions and information expression. The mindset ofSoya society in language expression has positive values in life in general andhousehold, has a religious nature, helping each other, courtesy, mutual respectand always give priority to the sanctity. Keywords:Language expression, cultural meaning, Customary Ceremony of Cuci Negeri Soya

Abstract

Inthe social life the values are always bounded to the certain culture. Everymember of the society in one culture communicate by using the language. We cansee the important of the language in human life. Indonesia as a big countrypossess  Indonesian language as theofficial language but there are many local languages that exist in this region.One of the local language is Manadonese Malay. Theaim of this research is to find out the methapor meaning in the expression thatrelates to animal in Manadonese Malay. The method used was descriptivequalitative. The result showed that the way of using the methapor related tothe animal had eleven aspects. They are enemies, insulting, less in faith,fear, excessive want, careful, keep possesion, equality, excessive action,stupidity, and not caring.

Abstract

Marketis a place where the interaction between seller and buyer happened. Marketbecomes social media that connect the used language in communication betweenseller and buyer who exist in traditional market of Manado and come fromvarious etnics. The researcher see the language which is used by buyer andseller in their buyer selling transaction. This thing is interested to beinvestigated. The aim of this research are (1) to identify form  and meaning of expression in using of ManadoMalay language at the buying-selling transaction in Karombasan traditionalmarket, Manado, and (2) to explain cultural meaning which contained in the useof Manado Malay language at buying-selling transaction in Karombasantraditional Market, Manado. Thisresearch employed descriptive method with qualitaitve approach. In collectingthe data, the method of Listening and Speaking of Surdayanto (1993) is used.Listening method is firstly used by using Listening Technique. Secondtechniques which are used are Listening Speaking Involment and ListeningSpeaking Free Involvement. In analyzing the collected data, theories of Cook(1969), Chaer (2007) and Kridalaksana are used to classify the language form ofexpression that are found. Then to get the cultural meaning that contained inthe expression, theory of Foley (1997) is used. There were 48 informantsactively involved in this research.Inthis research, the researcher found 8 forms of word  classified into basic word, repetition wordand compound word, namely: fresco, bos tabuang-buang, baminya-minya, tandatangan, masa pohong and masa karbit, 3 phrases expressions are also found suchas, kuli kadongdong, kuli duriang, and ikang pegawai. Then, sentence forms ofexpressions that are found namely ‘Om ini, kurang mo kase abis’, ‘Ngana petomat pe warna sama deng warna spanyol’, ‘Tanta kiapa depe mata ikang somerah’. Throughthis research, it can be concluded that this cultural-meaning expressioncontains cultural meaning, both positive meanings such as fresh thinking, likehelping other people, respect each other, good attitude, behavior, knowing goodand meet cultural life, having competence and negative meanings, such as badbehaviour, talkactive, not creative and having no competence. Based on theconclusion, the researcher suggests to the next researcher, to be morecomprehensive related to the use of Manado Malay language expression indifferent background and contexts in order to get a whole description aboutexpressions system of Manado Malay language.  Keyword: The Cultural Meaning, Tradisional Market
