Dental caries or tooth decay is one of the dental and oral health problems that are common in today's society. Dental caries is tooth tissue disease characterized by tissue damage, starting from the tooth surface extends towards the pulp. Elementary school children including vulnerable age who need to get attention for that period are deciduous teeth and permanent teeth simultaneously in the oral cavity are more susceptible to caries. Carbohydrates such as sucrose can cause dental caries, known as cariogenic foods in the role of parents, especially mothers to feed children mainly occurs during the process of food preparation. Action decision-making by the mother in the provision of good food is strongly influenced by maternal psychological readiness level of knowledge and attitudes among mothers. The habit of eating sweet foods influential in the formation of dental caries in children, which in turn also affects the number of caries. The purpose of this study is to describe the mother's knowledge and attitudes about food cariogenic by the number of dental caries Elementary School fourth grade students Demakijo 1. The subjects of the research are students and students’s mother of Elementary School fourth grade students Demakijo 1. This research uses descriptive quantitative method, then the results are presented in tables and percentages. The results showed the knowledge and attitudes of mothers included in both categories with a percentage of 45.5% of mother's knowledge and attitudes of mothers 47% with little amount of dental caries is 1-2 caries or 47% in the Elementary School fourth grade students Demakijo 1.

The most common teeth problem in Indonesia is teeth loss because by caries. One of cause caries is debris. Debris is food residue left in the mouth cavity that is actually can be cleaned naturally by saliva fluid, movement muscles of the mouth and can be cleaned by rinsing and brushing them. Brushing teeth is one of the procedures to keep teeth and mouth clean. According to the report in 2013 from the household health survey of Ministry Of Health mentions the percentage of the Indonesia population who brush their teeth every day during shower is 76,6 %. Indonesian population aged 10 years and over who have a habit of brushing their teeth properly in only 2,3 %. This can be happened because of the knowledge of the people there to maintain the dental health is still very low. This study aims to describe the knowledge brushing teeth and scores debris in 7th grade of Junior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Kalibawang Kulon Progo. This research is descriptive research. The research result shows that 50% student have moderate level of brushing teeth knowledge. About 33% have low knowledge level and 17% have high knowledge level. The average debris score of students are 1,05 with fair criteria. 55% students have debris score in fair criteria, 41% students have debris score in good criteria and 4% students have debris score in poor criteria. The conclusion gained is that most of student in 7th grade of Junior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Kalibawang Kulon Progo have moderate level of brushing teeth knowledge. It was in the amount of 50%. Oral health is an important factor in human life. Maintaining oral health is very important to get our body's health, especially in children, because in childhood is very important because the condition of milk teeth (dental decidui) today will determine the state of permanent teeth replacement. One cause one to overlook dental and mouth health problems are factors of knowledge about oral hygiene is lacking. Knowledge of parents is very important in the formation of the underlying behaviors that support or do not support children's dental and oral hygiene .. This study aims to reveal the knowledge of oral health in children fourth grade N 1 Demak Ijo. This research is descriptive analytic. Respondents were selected with a total sampling method with sample number equal to the population of 66 people. The tools used in this study was a questionnaire containing about oral health knowledge. The results showed 52 (78.78%) had a good knowledge of the level of knowledge of oral health. Conclusions: The majority of respondents have a good knowledge about the level of knowledge of oral health and about more than half of respondents have a dental and oral hygiene status was good.

Brushing toothis the most effective way to clean plaque. Plaque is a thin layer consisting of solid and accumulates microorganisms and attached to the tooth surface. Tooth brush is a tool which can be used to clean mouth and tooth. The purpose of this experiment to reveal the plaque scores with various forms of tooth brush and tooth brushing method in class V and VI Elementary School 1 Sidayu, with the amount of 40 students. Inspected aspects in this experiment are plaque scores, forms of tooth brush and brushing tooth methods. This experiment is using kind of descriptivequantitative experiment. Presentation of data is processed and analyzed by cross tabulation. The results of this experiment based on the gender are 23 male students and 17 female students. In the other side, based on age, there are 13 students having age of 12 at the most. Brushing tooth method that the most respondent used is a combination method which have sum of 24 respondents(60%), while the most tooth brush form used by respondents is flat tooth brush bristle with the sum 25 respondents (62,5%). In the conclusion, based on cross tabulation between plaque scores, tooth brush form and brushing tooth methods, the plaque score of student class V and VI is bad criteria with using flat tooth brush bristle and using combination method of brushing tooth. The sum of those respondents is 60%.

Basic Health Research in 2013 showed people’s incorrect habits in brushing teeth which were about 76,6% brushing their teeth each day during morning shower or evening bath due to the lack of knowledge about brushing teeth. Knowledge can be obtained from several factors; they are level of education, occupation, age, socio-economic, experiences, cultural environment, and information. The purpose of this study was to gain deeper more about students’ level of knowledge of brushing teeth in class VII SMP N 1 Mlati Sleman. The research type is descriptive research with cross sectional approach. The subjects in this study were 128 respondents. The variable in this study was a single variable which was the level of knowledge of brushing teeth. The research was conducted in April 2016. The data were collected by using a questionnaire. The analysis of the data presented in the form of cross-tabulations. The results obtained by the level of knowledge aboutbrushing teeth in good criteria (21.9%), moderate (75%) and poor (3.1%). The conclusions obtained most respondents have a better level of knowledge of brushing teeth at the aged 13 years (14.06%), parental education high school (12.5%), parents’ private work (13.3%), parents’ high-income (10.2 %), respondents who ever got counseling (17,18%), and the resources of the electronic media (14.8%).

Oral health touches every aspect of our lives but is often taken for granted. Our mouth is a window into the health of our body. It can show signs of nutritional deficiencies or general infection. Systemic diseases, those that affect the entire body, may first become apparent because of mouth lesions or other oral problems. A lot of people may not realize if they had done a bad habit that worsen the oral health, one of them is smoking. It causes unpleasant breath odor, staining, tartar, and many more. The aim of this study was to determine oral hygiene status of the smokers in Asrama Putra Bumi Gora NTB Yogyakarta. This is a descriptive study with 30 responden include. Based on the research that has been done, oral hygiene status of the smokers at Asrama Putra Bumi Gora NTB Yogyakarta who has good criteria is about 53,3%, 46,7% of fair criteriaand no one has poor criteria. So the conclusion is most of the smokers at Asrama Putra Bumi Gora NTB Yogyakarta has good score of oral hygiene status.

Tooth brushing methods is the common way to clean soft deposit in the teeth and gum surface as a preventive effort to check the optimal health condition of mouth. Plaque is uncolored thin tissue (transparent), unseen only by the normal eye, attached in the teeth and make colony form. The purpose of this researchwasto knowthe description of tooth brushing methods and plaque score of class V and VI studentsat Sidayu 2 Elementary School. This research used descriptive quantitative research. The sample of this research was taken from students of class V and VI with total number of 40 students. Aspects inspected in this study were tooth brushing methods and plaque score. Data of the result in this research were managed and analyzed by cross tabulation table. The result of this research based on the gender was 25 male students and 15 female students. In the other side, based on age, there were 16 students at the age of 12 years old at the most. Tooth brushing method that the most respondent used was roll method which done by 14 respondents (35%), while plaque score criteria that the most respondents had was in average criteria. In the conclusion, based on crosstab between tooth brushing methods and plaque score, the description of the tooth brushing methods and plaque score in students of class V and VI was horizontal method with bad criteria of plaque score as many as 9 respondents (22,5%) and combination method with averagecriteria of plaque score as many as 9 respondents (22,5%).

Based on Riset Kesehatan Dasar Nasional (Riskesdas) in 2013, DMF-T index increased as the age goes by. Caries is the main cause of missing teeth among young people. This knowledge related to the people’s behavior about illness, preventive effort and also its treatment. The purpose of the study is to know the description knowledge and attitudes of students’ caries treatment in class XI of Office Administration 2 in SMK N 1 Kebumen. Method of the study was descriptive with crosssectional study design. This study had population that was all students of class XI Office Administration 2, withthe number of respondents was 36 students. The result showed that the description knowledge and attitudes of respondents’caries treatment were the middle category for level of knowledge with the number of respondents was 33 (91,67%), and the good category for positive attitude with the number of respondents was 34 (94,44%). Therefore, it can be concluded that knowledge and attitude of students’ caries treatment had been good.

Caries is the commonest disorders which may frequently occur as a dental and oral disease. This dental decay can be found on children since they prefer to consume sweets which might cause the existence of dental caries. The acidity of saliva pH can be assumed as a factor emerged dental caries. Saliva is a compound consisted of various liquid produced in the mouth. In order to keep the mouth clean, the adequate amount of saliva is importantly needed.This research is purposed to find out the description of Saliva pH and caries toward first grade students in State Elementary School 2 Temuwangi, Klaten regency. This research can be categorized as descriptive method applying technique of data collection by crossectional approach. All of first grade students in this elementary school are the population of the research. The result shows that participants who have similar degree of saliva acidity dominated by neutral criterion are reflectedby14 female children as much as 82.4% precentage in which 12 students are attaining the age of 7 years old as much as 70.6% percentage. 13 participants have the highest number of caries as much as 76.5% percentage dominated by female participants in which 11 participants are attaining the age of 7 years old as much as 64.7 % percentage. Therefore, the biggest number of saliva acidity within this research is neutral saliva acidity shown by 14 people (82.4%) and the biggest number of caries is on 13 students (76.5%).

Saliva is the liquid in oral cavity that is produced by the three pairs of the big salivary glands, which are parotid saliva, submandibular and sublingual, minor salivary glands, and gingival liquid. The degrees of acidity (pH) in saliva is used to determine the level of acidity (or alkalinity that the liquid has). Caries is one of the side effect of the degree of acidity in saliva that has acids as the criteria. This research was conducted in order to find out the description of the degree of acidity in saliva and the number of caries to the students at Intimung Academy of North Kalimantan in Yogyakarta. The method of this research was descriptive with cross sectional approach. It was conducted on March 2016 and its location was at Intimung Academy of North Kalimantan. The limitation of this research was the degree of acidity in saliva and the number of caries. This research measured the degree of acidity (pH) in saliva and the number of dental caries to the students at Intimung Academy of North Kalimantan with the cross tab management data. The result of the cross tabulation showed that there were 27 students with persentation (48,2 %) of respondents have caries and pH acid in saliva. Conclusions obtained some of the respondents who have a degree of acidity ( pH ) of saliva most is 29 ( 51.8 % ) of respondents . Respondents who have a number of caries bit with 26 ( 46.4 % ) of respondents. Respondents with caries a lot and the degree of acidity ( pH ) neutral saliva is 14 ( 25 % ) of respondents.
