Abstract

International Animated cartoons have long been an integral part of childhood entertainment across the world. Globally, some popular cartoons such as Tom and Jerry, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Popeye the Sailor, and Looney Tunes implicitly contribute to children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. This study examines the international animated cartoons can nurture value, social skills, and emotional competencies among school children. For social learning, cognitive development, and narrative pedagogy, this study highlights the educational and developmental tool beyond entertainment. The purpose of the animated cartoons is to integrate value-based education. This study examines how storytelling, humour, conflict resolution, and character-driven narrative foster empathy, cooperation, and ethical reasoning in children. The positive character traits and prosocial behaviour depicted in cartoons can enhance children’s ability to navigate social interactions and emotional challenges. The integration of value-based education through animated cartoons focuses on formal education and supports holistic child development. The study advocates for a more conscious and purposeful use of animated cartoons in educational settings, aiming to harness their potential in promoting values, moral development, and social-emotional learning among school children in an engaging and accessible manner.

Abstract

This study investigates the dynamics of policy implementation and regulatory challenges in managing civil service resources within the evolving framework of digital governance. The research aims to interpret how digital transformation reshapes administrative structures, human resource management, and regulatory coherence in the public sector. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach based on a systematic literature review, the study synthesizes empirical and conceptual evidence from recent academic and institutional publications between 2013 and 2025. Data were analyzed thematically through interpretive synthesis to identify recurring patterns of policy adaptation, institutional capacity, and regulatory reform across different governance contexts. The findings reveal that digital governance transforms policy implementation from a linear bureaucratic process into an adaptive, data-driven, and network-based system that demands interagency coordination and technological proficiency. Regulatory challenges emerge from outdated legal frameworks, fragmented institutional mandates, and limited digital literacy among civil servants, leading to uneven implementation outcomes. The study highlights that effective civil service resource management requires integrating digital competency frameworks, ethical data governance, and agile leadership within coherent regulatory systems. Theoretically, this research contributes to modernizing implementation theory by embedding digital institutionalism and adaptive capacity concepts, while managerially, it offers a model for aligning human resource policies with sustainable digital transformation. The results affirm that sustainable digital governance depends on the continuous interaction between policy innovation, regulatory adaptability, and institutional learning.

Abstract

Research on the translation of cultural terms in literary works still faces many obstacles, particularly when the source text contains cultural realia with no direct equivalent in the target language. This study aims to analyse the translation techniques used by three translators in rendering cultural terms and expressions in the novel The Old Man and the Sea, and to assess the quality of the translations in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, focusing on one source novel and three Indonesian translations. The research data included all cultural terms in the book, their translations, and quality assessments from six raters purposively selected. Data collection was conducted through document analysis, questionnaires, and focus group discussions, while data analysis followed the stages of domain analysis, taxonomy, component analysis, and cultural themes. The results show that the three translators utilised a combination of established equivalents, borrowing, generalisation, explicitation, paraphrasing, addition, omission, adaptation, and variation techniques, with differences in the intensity and combination of techniques used. These findings confirm that translation techniques influence how the source culture is represented in the target text and the quality of the resulting translation. Implicitly, this study provides a theoretical basis and practical guidelines for translators in handling cultural terms, while also opening up space for the development of translation technique models in cross-cultural literary studies.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the implementation of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) policy in Sarolangun Regency, Jambi Province. This policy is one of the government's initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of governance through the use of information technology. Since the issuance of Sarolangun Regent Regulation No. 58 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of the Electronic-Based Government System, the Sarolangun Regency Government has encountered numerous impediments in its implementation, resulting in suboptimal execution of the Electronic-Based Government System. The present study employs a qualitative approach, drawing on data from interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of SPBE in Sarolangun Regency continues to face challenges in communication and resource allocation. Several factors, including limited ICT infrastructure, a shortage of skilled human resources, insufficient socialization of digital services, and limited internet access, have hindered the implementation of this policy. The Sarolangun Regency Government, through the Sarolangun Regency Communication and Information Agency, must strengthen and improve resources and enhance communication to optimize the implementation of SPBE in Sarolangun Regency.

Abstract

Traditional markets in Makassar, Indonesia, are important economic hubs but also complex multi-hazard workplaces for informal workers. This study examines occupational safety and health (OSH) awareness and develops a feasible community-based intervention model. Using a mixed-method design (survey, walkthrough observations, and semi-structured interviews/participatory discussions), the study maps patterns of knowledge, attitudes, and everyday safety practices while identifying barriers in infrastructure and governance. Findings suggest that preventive routines are more consistent when actions are low-cost and compatible with fast-paced market work. Still, adoption weakens when prevention requires extra time, discomfort, or cost. Environmental constraints (wet floors and drainage, congestion points, cable management) and fragmented responsibility further reduce safety signals. The paper proposes an intervention package combining basic environmental and administrative controls, peer-based behavior reinforcement, and routine monitoring embedded in market management to reduce everyday risk and support market quality.

Abstract

Customary forest management in Indonesia continues to face challenges, including development pressures, land conversion, and weak coordination among actors in natural resource governance. Centralized management approaches are widely considered insufficient to fully ensure forest sustainability and protect the rights of indigenous peoples. This study aims to analyze collaborative governance practices in conserving the Wehea Customary Forest in Nehas Liah Bing Village, Muara Wahau District, East Kutai Regency, Indonesia. The study adopted a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document reviews, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that the successful management of the Wehea Customary Forest is driven by synergy between the local government, which acts as a policy facilitator; indigenous communities, which play a key role in forest management; and non-governmental organizations, which support capacity building. Furthermore, integrating customary law into the formal governance system has been shown to increase the legitimacy and effectiveness of forest protection and facilitate constructive conflict management. This study concludes that the collaborative governance approach plays a crucial role in conserving customary forests and strengthening recognition of indigenous communities, making it a relevant model for sustainable customary forest management.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) represent a cornerstone of Indonesia’s economic structure, particularly in regions like Deli Serdang. Yet, MSMEs continue to face persistent challenges in digital transformation and environmental sustainability. This study investigates the synergistic role of digital value chains and green finance in enhancing the sustainability of MSMEs by focusing on their strategic capabilities. Using a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), data were collected from 400 MSME respondents across 22 sub-districts. SEM was chosen due to its suitability for analyzing complex relationships among latent constructs. The study addresses the following research question: To what extent does the integration of digitalization and green finance influence MSME sustainability through strategic capabilities? Findings indicate that digital adoption improves operational efficiency and market responsiveness, while green finance strengthens long-term sustainability orientations. Notably, their interaction creates a compounded effect on resilience and competitiveness. Practical implications suggest that this integrative model can guide policymakers, financial institutions, and local stakeholders in designing inclusive digital-financial ecosystems for MSMEs. The study extends the Resource-Based View and Triple Bottom Line frameworks by demonstrating their applicability in local MSME contexts.

Abstract

Volunteers in early adulthood are generally in the process of development, where they begin to learn to be independent, seek new experiences, and strengthen the social values they hold. During this period, the enthusiasm for learning and the interest in taking actions that benefit others tend to increase, along with a growing sense of responsibility toward society. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between learning motivation and prosocial behavior in early adults who volunteer for social community activities at KL Lazismu Unisa Yogyakarta. The population in this study consisted of 150 individuals, with a sample of 108 students selected through purposive sampling techniques. The data collection instruments used in this study were Hardiyani's (2005) learning motivation scale and Mussen's (2002) prosocial behavior scale. Data analysis was conducted using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, linearity test, and Pearson correlation test Product moment using SPSS 21. The results of the study indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and prosocial behavior (r = 0.842; p = 0.000). The higher the learning motivation an individual has, the more positive they will be in displaying prosocial behavior.

Abstract

Generation Z in Indonesia faces increasingly complex social pressures, particularly in interpersonal relationships that emphasize acceptance and social harmony. One emerging response to these pressures is people-pleasing behavior, defined as an excessive effort to satisfy others at the expense of one’s own needs. This study aims to examine the relationship between people-pleasing behavior and psychological well-being among Generation Z in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, while highlighting its psychological implications within the Indonesian socio-cultural context. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 103 respondents aged 18–25 years. The instruments used were the People Pleaser Scale and the Psychological Well-Being Scale, both of which demonstrated adequate validity and reliability. The results indicated that the majority of respondents exhibited low levels of psychological well-being (87.4%) and high levels of people-pleasing behavior (61.2%). Product moment correlation analysis revealed a very strong negative relationship between people-pleasing behavior and psychological well-being (r = −0.852) with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the results of the coefficient of determination test showed an R Square value of 0.726, indicating that the people-pleaser variable contributes 72.6% to psychological well-being among Generation Z in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. These findings contribute novel insight by demonstrating that people-pleasing tendencies among Indonesian Generation Z are not merely adaptive social strategies, but may constitute a significant risk factor for diminished psychological well-being. This study enriches the field of developmental psychology and mental health by emphasizing the importance of strengthening autonomy, self-acceptance, and personal boundaries among Generation Z. Practically, the findings provide a foundation for psychological interventions, counseling services, and self-development programs aimed at enhancing psychological well-being and preventing the adverse effects of people-pleasing behavior among young people in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Early Childhood Education Implementation Operational Assistance Program (BOP PAUD) in Tanjungpinang as a public policy instrument in supporting the governance and quality of early childhood education services. This research is motivated by the fact that there are still gaps between digital-based policy design and implementation practices in the field, such as delays reporting administrative errors, and limited human resource capacity in the management of BOP PAUD funds. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation of the Education Office, the head of PAUD, operators, and treasurers. The research analysis uses indicators of program effectiveness according to Sutrisno, which include program understanding, accuracy of targets, timeliness, achievement of goals, and real changes. The results of the study show that the BOP PAUD Program has helped support the operations of educational units and improve financial administration governance, but the effectiveness of the program has not been optimal. The main problems are found in the low technical understanding of implementers, delays in reporting, the phenomenon of double workload, and the uneven impact of improving the quality of education services. This research confirms that the effectiveness of programs is not only determined by regulations and digital systems, but is also influenced by human resource capacity, institutional support, and coordination between policy actors. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of implementers, optimize technical assistance, and improve program governance based on regional needs to increase the effectiveness of the management of BOP PAUD funds.
