Abstract

The Childhood Education (PAUD) and Elementary School (SD) teachers should have adequate skills and knowledge in teaching, instilling, and being an example or role model for their students. Therefore, it was necessary to increase professionalism in terms of the use of national languages as well as international languages which are needed today, so that Indonesian students can use standard Indonesian properly and correctly.Based on the conditions encountered, the community service team at the Teaching and Education Faculty (FKIP), Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) Salatiga carried out community service activities with the aim of opening paradigms and training early-level early childhood and elementary school teachers to have a complete understanding of the concept of standard national and international languages and have the opportunity to improve language competence, especially English. This activity was carried out in the form of training, debriefing, and teaching simulations by four FKIP, UKSW lecturers who have Indonesian, English and educational management backgrounds. The results of the implementation of this activity could be seen at the beginning of understanding of classroom language and obtaining references to the use of standard language in the classroom to be used as capital to apply the Indonesian and English concepts.

Abstract

Since the pandemic outbreak until now, no drugs and vaccines have been found to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, one of the alternatives to fight covid 19 virus is to maintain health and increase endurance despite intense activity. With the condition of Indonesia that is being exposed to the COVID-19 virus outbreak, we made a breakthrough to encourage the public to maintain and increase endurance. In order not to be susceptible to various viruses and keep healthy, consuming herbal medicine is one among the many ways. Mpon Sehat is a new breakthrough made from the basic ingredients of herbal medicine that is made into sweets with a sweet taste. Mpon is very beneficial for the body, for it can increase endurance and nourish the body. The purpose of making this candy is to provide a solution for people who are busy and do not have time to consume herbal medicines. This herbal candy can also be used as an alternative for some people who don't like herbal medicine but want to feed the body. This candy is not bitter or spicy like other spices, but it tastes sweet and tastes like an unwanted spice. It has other uniqueness such as chewy texture, unique packaging- consisting of 2 colors and easy to carry anywhere. In this service, using the method of implementing community service on April 15, 2020 starting at 15:00 until 17:00 in Bintaro, it is done face to face with the target audience by distributing products for free and doing image branding. As a result of this creativity program, we received satisfying opinions and criticisms and suggestions from the target audience to develop products and improve existing deficiencies. Then we made a video about the results of the creativity program and posted it on Instagram. In addition we also share information about the importance of maintaining health by consuming herbal medicines through social media such as Instagram. Instagram can facilitate the promotion of the products with a broad reach and is intended for everyone.

Abstract

The skills needed in the 21st century are communication, collaborative, creativity innovation, and, critical thinking problem solving. One that is closely related to mindset is critical thinking problem solving. Critical thinking and being able to solve problems means the ability to understand a complex problem, connect information to other information, and finally find the solutions of the problem. This ability is closely related to the field of Information Technology (IT) because this field really needs a structured, coherent mindset, analysis, and computational thinking. This ability is very much needed by the young generation of Indonesia today. The Information Technology of UKDW Faculty (FTI)’s partner, Bopkri I Yogyakarta High School, has the same vision to prepare students to have real and applicable abilities. Students need regular and structured training to achieve these goals. Bopkri I and FTI work together in the form of community service training in strengthening computational thinking by implementing basic programming, advanced programming, and training evaluation. This program was held in 2 major stages., The first stage consists of strengthening computational thinking using basic programming training in general, and the second using advanced programming training in the form of competitive programming and its simulations. Students were given complete material, face-to-face/online knowledge transfer, complete modules, exercises, and direct simulations by some experienced lecturers from FTI UKDW.
