Abstract

The objective of tlie .study was to identify the possibility and strategy of vegetables agrobusiness development inKarimun. The Development of vegetables agrobusines.s in Karimun is promising, because of its geographicalcondition. The surrounding areas of Karimun are Batam Island and international trade route: Singapore-Malay,sia-lndonesia. The area is connected to Karimun-Tanjung Pinang lini<age project. The promisingcommodities were: lettuce, petal, celery, legume, bitter mellon, cucumber, mustard greens, leafy vegetable,eggplant Having 500 hectares potential land area use for vegetables, Karimun was expected to be the major ofvegetable supplier for Batam, Tanjung Pinang and Singapore.

Abstract

The study aimed to identifivcation the household expenditure structure and food coasumption in Pelalawandistrict. The data used in the study was collected from survey In July to November 2(K)2. The result of studyshows that the avarage of houseliold income was Rp 803,135 per month, and the gini ratio of household incomewas 0.20. The household expenditure structure shows that the proportion of non-food expenditure is greaterthan the food expenditure. The consumption of rice and sugar was higer than the expected food consumption,wliile the consumption offish, meal, egg, vegetable and fruit was lower than the expected food coasumption.

Abstract

The purpose of this study wa to analize some aspects of the business such as technical and technological,marketing, management, juridiscal, financial and environmental aspectsusing case .study. This researchstarted from August to December 2001. The results show that this industry still used simple technology andequipment The ingredients of the product are tenggiri fish, tapioca, sugar, salt, egg, fried oil and vetsin. Therearc two ways ofdistributioas, the first is by distributing the product directly to the consumers and the secondis through retail traders. The marketing of this product has reached many places such as Malaysia andSingapura. The system of work used was a cooperation system and there was no such kind of the companystructure. The industry of Amplang Tenggiri Sumber Rezeki has been stated legally based upon the instruc-tion from the Departcment of Public Health Rl No. SP. 004/04.01/1992/14. The RCR value attained was 2,95.Il nieaas that every one rupiah of cost production will earn 2,95 nipiahs of gross profit or the profit is about Rp1,95. The gross profit earned by the enterpreneur in a month was Rp 43.940.000,- and the net income was Rp29.084.044,4.3. From the observation and analysis of the business, agroindustry of amplang tenggiri SumberRexeki is feasible to be developed in the future. In the view point of environment, thi-s Industry did not cause anydisti-ubances to the people and surroundings, based on the statement of the people living around this homeindustry.

Abstract

The major problems found In uUlization of tidal swamp land for farmland is the abundmicc of water, low salinityami pi 1 and relatively low organic compounds. Tliese problems can be coped with the ameliorations. Based onthis fact, the experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of variou.s doses of manure and dolomite in thegrowth and production of sweet com in the tidal swamp land. ThLs experiment has been conducted in the InsitVillage, Tebing Tinggi Barat Sub District Bengkalis Regency using a randomized factorial block experimentParameters observed were wet-weight and dry-weight of sweet com plant, emergence time of anther and stigma(days), length of corncob (cm), diamctcrofcomcob(cm), and number oflincof corncob .Experimental resultsshow that treatment of tidal swamp land with manures significantly influenced the wct-wcight of sweet cornplants, enuTgence time of stigma, and length of conicob. Addition of some dolomite to the tidal swamp land andinteraction between manures and dolomite did not significantly influence all parameters observed duringexperimental periods.

Abstract

The effect of various fermentation times on the quality of dried Forastero cacao beans was evaluated. Dataobtained were treated by the analysts of variance followed by a least significant difference test Various fermen-tiition times significantly affected the total acids, weight of 100 of beans, number of mould-infected beans, andthe colour of cacao beans, however no effect of fermentation times on the fermentation index, p H , aroma andtaste of cocoa beans was observed. The higher quality of d ried Forastero cacao beans processed by use of Slnie-Cadbury method was found when raw beans were fermented for 5 d than for 3 or 7 d.

Abstract

The research was conducted to evaluate the effect of treatment or addition of oil palm's ash and various kindsmulch on the growth and production of chilli (Capsicum annuum. L). The experimental method used wasrandomized block design method with 2 factor namely 1) Various dosages of oil palm's ash and 2) Variouskinds of mulch. Parameters observed were the height of pLmt, number of primary branchs, number of fruitsper plant and weight offruits per plant The experimental results show that interaction between oil palm's ashand mulch significantly influenced the growth and production of chilli. Addition of ash significantly increa.sedthe number and weight of fruits per plant Treatment with mulch only increased the number of fruit per plant.
