Abstract

The development of tourism and the hotel industry has implications for commodification. Basically, commodification is something that is modified so that it becomes of commodity value. One of these phenomena can be seen in the commodification of Balian's roles and functions at the Fivelements Hotel, which is located in Mambal Village, Abiansemal sub-district, Badung Regency. Balian is actually historically a profession that uses spiritual power to heal someone's illness. For the Balinese people, the Balinese profession is something magical, not just anyone can do it, and has high spirituality. Balian's profession and services are then used by Fivelements hotel to become one of the most iconic attractions. Fivelements Hotel, which is located at Mambal Village, Abiansemal District, Badung Regency, offers Balian services to its guests as healers or spiritual therapists. This phenomenon makes it something that is anti-mainstream and has essentially proven the commodification of its role. Moving on from this, this research analyzes the problem covering three things, namely; 1) the factors causing the commodification of the Balian role, 2) the forms of commodification of the Balian role as a spiritual therapist, and 3) the implications of the commodification of the Balian role as a spiritual therapist at Fivelements Hotel.Keyword : Balian, commodification, therapist, spiritual

Abstract

This temple is one of six temples with the status of Sad Kahyangan Jagat. It stands majestically at the southwestern tip of Bali on a steep, high rock platform and protrudes into the sea. This temple is located in the village of Pecatu, South Kuta District, Badung Regency and this temple is easily accessible. Luhur Uluwatu Temple is divided into three parts; Utama Mandala, Madya Mandala, and Nista Mandala. At Utama Mandala there are prasada and pelinggih in the form of Meru Tumpang Tiga. In Madya Mandala there are no pelinggih. Whereas in the southern Nista Mandala called Dalem Bejurit, there are among others prasada, where the mokshanya Danghyang Dwijendra is side by side with a monument in the form of two boats used to sail when coming to Bali. Uluwatu Temple is a well-known tourist attraction in all foreign countries, although it is already a place that is very popular with tourists does not necessarily make people forget some things that must be done by visitors (tourists) when it comes to temples. The visitors must use cloth (relapsed) and scarves so that when entering the temple area, harmony, sacred values can be interpreted by visitors. Regulations relating to the ethics of visitors who come to Uluwatu Temple must adhere to the applicable rules made by Bendesa Adat. Keywords: Temple, tourism

Abstract

Alas Kedaton tourism object is one of the tourist destinations known for its natural beauty and the presence of monkeys which are the main attraction, becoming a cultural tourism object, Alas Kedaton is very closely related to Hindu culture. Of course, it cannot be separated from religious rituals and various religious philosophies such as tri Hita Karana which is implemented in the social life of the local community both in management (managers and traders) towards visitors, towards the environment and respecting the heritage of religious ceremonies at Alas Kedaton Temple. This study uses qualitative methods, the data sources are primary and secondary. Data collection techniques include observation techniques, interviews, literature and documentation, as well as techniques for determining informants. The implementation of the Tri Hita Karana teachings at the Alas Kedaton tourist attraction has been going quite well, this can be seen where the relationship between humans and God has been established in every piodalan taking place, the relationship between managers and visitors is considered good enough because the managers always provide comfortable service and provide a sense of security for guests, the manager's relationship with the environment has also been harmonious, this can be seen from the developments both in garden planning, reforestation/reforestation and in feeding the monkeys.

Abstract

Online travel agent (OTA) has been the main connection for guests to reach a tourism destination, where the algorithm of “sort” function enables a guest to find and pick any accommodation, attraction, accessibility, and amenity to his/her wants and needs in a single click. This study will discuss how such single click reduces (combine and generalize) every hotel and homestay within an OTA, hence experience as homestay’s main value has become irrelevant as an indicator of deciding the accommodation. The purpose of this study is to start an academic discussion about assumptions of modernity in tourism, a topic that has been taken for granted (purposefully?) so often. Using qualitative content analysis as data analysis method, this study did purposeful sampling interviews with hotel and homestay practitioners in Ubud, mainly to divulge a new perspective about practical implications of modernity in tourism. Keywords: Reduction, Hotel, Homestay, Accommodation, Modernity.

Abstract

Gedong Kirtya Museum is the oldest lontar museum in Bali which was founded by F.A. Lieffrinck and Dr. H.N. Van der Tuuk in 1928. The purpose of the establishment of Gedong Kirtya was to revive aspects of ancient Balinese culture and Balinese culture that are still alive (survival) by studying and excavating the widest possible range of lontar in Bali and Lombok. The Gedong Kirtya Lontar Museum is managed by the Buleleng Culture Service through the UPT Gedong Kirtya which specifically collects lontar, copies of lontar, books translated from these lontars, as well as a collection of books researched on Balinese culture compiled in the colonial era (colonial era). . The number of manuscripts (lontar and lontar copies) at the Gedong Kirtya Museum to date is more than 5,200 manuscripts, about Balinese history, literature, magic, medicine and so on. Because Gedong Kirtya is a tourist attraction, every visitor is charged an entrance ticket, the amount of which is adjusted to the background of the visitor. Gedong Kirtya has also been designated as a Cultural Property because Gedong Kirtya was established in 1928. This is in accordance with Law Number 11 of 2010 concerning Cultural Conservation. The law states that cultural heritage objects must be at least 50 years old.Keyword : Museum Gedong Kirtya, Wisata Museum
