Abstract

The implementation of K to 12 curriculum in coastal villages in the Philippines posed a pressing concern on the dearth of contextualized instructional materials (IM). This study aimed to generate the cultural funds of knowledge and translanguaging praxis of migrant fishers as bases for the development of contextualized IM. Under the lens of narrative ethnography, knowledge, beliefs, and practices of migrant fishers were documented in memory bank charts from six months of immersion in the coastal villages. Translingual narratives of purposively chosen participants were analyzed in the QDA Lite Miner software. Three translingual storybooks and teacher’s guides were developed, validated, evaluated, and pilot tested. It resulted to “very acceptable” for the storybooks and “excellent” rating for the teacher’s guides. The study recommends that school heads, teachers, and parents in the coastal villages may interact beyond the classroom setting and their indigenous knowledge will be used in the development of IM.

This quantitative study explores the performance management of police officers in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Philippines. Through random sampling, researchers distributed the research questionnaire to 300 police officers in the research locale. Four indicators were identified for performance management: planning, organizing, leading and controlling with a mean rating of 4.42 or very high for controlling with a standard deviation of 0.29. Organizing got 4.28 with a standard deviation of 0.48; leading has 4.27 or high with a standard deviation of 0.52; and 4.23 or high for planning with a standard deviation of 0.44. The matrix activity is provided that shows the system of activities, key result areas, objectives, strategies/activities, expected outcome, and persons involved. Many factors impact the effectiveness of an organization's performance management system, but three are most important; First, the system must be aligned with and support the organization's direction and critical success factors; second, well-developed, efficiently administered tools and processes are needed to make the system user-friendly and well received by organizational members; and third, and most importantly, managers and employees must use the system in a manner that brings visible, value-added benefits in performance planning, development, feedback, and achieving results.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the trend of Integrated Reporting capitals in Malaysia, by introducing of integrated reporting framework on the 6 capitals and comparison with some countries across the continent. This research analyses the depth and breadth of IR capital reporting using a checklist derived from the IIRC's framework and conducted using content analysis. The analysis shows that IR capitals are becoming much more forthcoming with information as Financial capital, Manufacture capital, Intellectual capital, Human capital, Social and Relation capital, and Natural capital are all shown to have significantly increased in the sampled IRs. This study particularized each capital on its definition, purpose, and disclosures and help people in charge of governance keep an eye on how they're reporting on IR capitals. It's useful since it highlights where IR capitals may stand to enhance their level of disclosure. This would then aid in assessing whether or not the framework itself needs to be revised
