Abstract

This study examines the role of the solidarity economy in increasing community resilience after a social crisis. Social crises, such as economic downturns and pandemics, often lead to economic instability, social fragmentation, and increased vulnerability within communities. This research aims to analyze how these practices contribute to resilience, identify the mechanisms involved, and evaluate their overall effectiveness. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, questionnaires, observations, and documentation within a selected community affected by a social crisis. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis for qualitative insights and descriptive statistics for quantitative findings. The results indicate that the solidarity economy plays a significant role in enhancing community resilience by strengthening social cohesion, providing economic support, fostering adaptability, and promoting participatory decision-making. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including sustainability issues, limited capital, weak management, and policy constraints, which may hinder the long-term effectiveness of solidarity-based initiatives. The findings further reveal that the success of the solidarity economy is influenced by internal factors such as community participation and leadership, as well as external factors including government support and access to resources. In conclusion, the solidarity economy serves as a viable and transformative approach to post-crisis recovery, contributing to more inclusive and sustainable community development. The study recommends strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing policy support, and expanding access to resources to maximize its impact. Future research is encouraged to explore comparative contexts and long-term outcomes to deepen understanding of its role in resilience building.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of social media has fundamentally transformed political communication, governance, and citizen engagement worldwide, making digital platforms essential channels for information dissemination, political participation, and public discourse. While social media enhances democratic participation by increasing political awareness, civic engagement, and government transparency, it also presents significant challenges through the spread of misinformation, disinformation, political polarization, and online extremism that may undermine political stability. This study aims to examine the influence of social media on global political stability by evaluating both its positive and negative political impacts. A quantitative research approach employing a cross-sectional survey design was adopted. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to 400 active social media users selected using stratified random sampling. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability and validity testing, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the relationships between social media influence and political stability. The findings reveal that social media has a statistically significant and overall positive influence on global political stability by enhancing political awareness, citizen participation, government transparency, and democratic accountability. However, the results also indicate that fake news, coordinated disinformation, echo chambers, political polarization, election interference, and online harassment remain critical threats to democratic governance and institutional trust. These findings suggest that maximizing the democratic benefits of social media requires responsible platform governance, strengthened digital literacy, effective fact-checking mechanisms, transparent political communication, and evidence-based regulatory policies that protect freedom of expression while minimizing the adverse effects of online misinformation and political manipulation.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of social media on global political stability by investigating how digital platforms shape political participation, information dissemination, public trust in political institutions, and political polarization within contemporary political systems. The rapid expansion of social media has transformed political communication by increasing citizens' access to information and facilitating civic engagement, while simultaneously creating challenges associated with misinformation, disinformation, ideological polarization, and declining institutional trust. Employing a quantitative research approach with a cross-sectional survey design and a cross-national comparative framework, data were collected from active social media users through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that social media exerts both positive and negative influences on political stability. On the positive side, social media promotes political participation, enhances governmental transparency, and strengthens democratic engagement through improved communication and information accessibility. Conversely, the widespread dissemination of misinformation, the formation of online echo chambers, and increasing political polarization weaken public trust in political institutions and contribute to political instability. These findings suggest that the overall impact of social media depends on contextual factors such as digital literacy, platform governance, regulatory effectiveness, and institutional resilience. This research contributes to the literature on digital political communication by integrating multiple theoretical perspectives into a comprehensive framework and provides practical implications for policymakers, election authorities, technology companies, and civil society organizations in developing strategies to strengthen democratic resilience and promote sustainable political stability in the digital era.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital technologies has transformed political participation by enabling citizens to engage directly in public affairs through online petition platforms. As online petitions become increasingly popular instruments of digital activism and democratic participation, understanding their effectiveness in influencing public policy has become an important area of research. This study examines the effectiveness of online petitions in driving policy change and identifies the factors associated with successful policy outcomes. A quantitative explanatory research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed using secondary data collected from major online petition platforms, government policy databases, and international governance indicators. The study analyzed a purposive sample of 250 online petitions submitted between 2018 and 2025. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and binary logistic regression to evaluate the influence of petition characteristics on policy change while controlling for relevant political and socioeconomic factors. The findings reveal that online petitions can significantly contribute to policy change; however, their effectiveness depends on multiple interconnected factors. The number of signatures, media coverage, government responsiveness, and political openness were found to have significant positive effects on policy change, whereas petition duration and social media shares did not exhibit statistically significant direct effects. Government responsiveness emerged as the strongest predictor of successful policy outcomes, highlighting the critical role of institutional support in translating digital participation into governmental action. Overall, the study concludes that successful online petitions require not only broad public participation but also supportive political institutions and effective communication strategies.

Abstract

Digital innovation has become a key driver of rural transformation by enabling village governments to improve public service delivery, strengthen governance, and promote sustainable development. At the same time, inclusive village development has emerged as a critical policy objective to ensure that all community members, including vulnerable and marginalized groups, can equally participate in and benefit from development initiatives. However, persistent challenges such as unequal internet access, low digital literacy, limited digital infrastructure, and uneven community participation continue to hinder the realization of inclusive digital transformation in rural areas. This study aims to analyze the role of digital innovation in enhancing the inclusiveness of village development and to identify the factors that support and hinder its implementation. A quantitative research design with an explanatory survey approach was employed in several digitally developing villages in Indonesia. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to village residents, while secondary data were obtained from government reports and official village documents. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the relationship between digital innovation and inclusive village development. The findings reveal that digital innovation significantly improves access to public services, increases community participation, enhances governance transparency, and strengthens community empowerment. The findings contribute to the literature on digital governance and inclusive rural development while providing practical recommendations for policymakers and village governments seeking to implement sustainable and inclusive digital transformation strategies.
