Abstract

Bengkuang (Pachyrrhizus erosus Urb.) has been known as natural insecticide due to the existence of toxic compound called rotenone. There are some publications on the usage of the P. erosus as pesticide but the affects of seed extract of P. erosus to the larvae of Aedes aegypti based on LC50 and their sub-lethal effects has been unstudied. Accordingly, the research questions were (1) what is LC50 value of the seed extracts? and (2) how does the sub-lethal effect of the seed extract to the larvae derived from their physical morphology and physiology?. The research was done by experimental study using completely random design of five different concentrations (i.e. 0,1%, 0,2%, 3%, 0,4%, 0,5 & 0% as a control) with four replication. Seed extraction followed Harborne (1987). Observation and calculation on the mortality of the larvae were done each six hours in 24 hours. Statistical analyses was done using One Way Anova and LSD test. The result showed that the concentration of the seed extract has significant influence to the mortality of the larvae of A. aegeypti (instar III) with LC50 value on 0,18%. Also, the seed extract caused morphological damages on some parts of the larval body such as head (chepal), chest (thorax), stomach (abdomen), anal gill and loss of hairs on the side of the body. The dead larvae always could be found on the bottom of substrate. The movement of the larvae tend to deliberate after six hours up to 24 hours. Based on the research result, we assume that the seed extract of P. erosus has a potential role as a natural insecticide especially on the larvae of Aedes aegypty (instar III).

Abstract

The aims of this research are: 1) to develop science Braille module for blind student at public/Islamic elementary school; 2) to validate science Braille module for blind student at public/Islamic elementary school based on teachers’ assessment. The development of the module followed the 4-D model of the research based development, i.e. Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate. However, the present paper will only report the first three phases that have been conducted. The prototype of the science Braille module was reviewed by supervisor, subject expertise, and peer reviewers. The final prototype of module was reviewed by SLB teacher, elementary school teachers (2 teachers from inclusive school and 1 teacher from SLB) using the manual ideal criteria assessment. The result of this study shows that the prototype of the science Braille module was given a good score by the media expert and the teachers. This module has 7.13% as ideal percentage. Based on the result, the prototype of science Braille module can be used as learning science media, especially for blind students.

Abstract

This study aims to  develop the  module based Integrated science environment technology society (SETS), knowing the quality of modules according to matter experts, media specialists and science teachers SMP / MTs, as well as the response of students to the module. Integrated Science is the study or the development of Research and Development (R & D) procedural models, the model is descriptive, showing the steps to be followed to produce the product. The procedure follows the development of Borg and Gall procedures that can be done more simply by involving five major steps: 1) to analyze the product to be developed; 2) develop the initial product, 3) validation of the expert and revision, 4) small-scale field trials and revision of the product; 5) large- scale field trials and the final product. The results of the module-based Integrated Science (SETS) with the theme of biogas technology. Based on an assessment matter experts, media specialists and science teachers SMP/MTs module Integrated IPA has developed a very good quality with score of 87.69 of the ideal of matter experts, 76.78 of the ideal score of media expert, and 77.75 of the ideal score of teacher SMP/MTs. As for the students' responses on a small scale field trials and large-scale field trials get very good response with score of 78.75 of the ideal in small-scale field trials and 81.17 of the ideal score on a scale field trials great.

Abstract

Concept of matrix inverse is limited to ???? × ???? singular matrix. Matrix with ???? × ???? or ???? × ???? a singular concept of inverse matrix solved with pseudoinvers. Pseudoinverse ???? symbol is a matrix ???? of any matrix ???? that meet the 4 traits, namely: ???????????? = ????, ???????????? = ????, ???????? = ????????, (????????)∗ = ????????, where ( )∗ is the conjugate transpose notation. One of method to find pseudoinverse is Greville's method. A Greville’s method is finite iterating method that uses  matrix partitions. The amount of iterations this method until ???? columns of the matrix inverse to search all pseudoinverse. This research will discuss the application and the properties of the estimators of regression coefficients in the multiple linear regression.

Abstract

A sports shoe store retail business whose sales are closely related to the ongoing trend when it. On the other hand, intense market competition and meet the market's appetite to add complexity and uncertainty that led to inventory planning are probabilistic. Demand variability, lead time is uncertain, and suppliers who require the purchase of serially into the challenges faced by retail sports shoes. To make decisions in situations such supplies can be used simulation approach. This study presents a spreadsheet-based simulation approach to resolve montecarlo inventory decisions. Spreadsheet application aids chosen because commonly used in a variety of companies. Simulation model was built by using Visual Basic for Application to perform computational mode. Simulation aims to (1) determine the time and the number of reservations that a minimum total inventory cost, (2) to decrease inventory costs against corporation existing condition. Computational results are executed to achieve steady state is able to provide a reduction in total inventory costs significantly.

Abstract

Iron sand is one of natural materials that has been widely explored and so far is  only used  as building materials. This research provides solutions to increase the economic values of iron sand, by preparing ferrogel from iron sand. The purpose of this research is to prepare Fe3O4 nanoparticles-based-ferrogel from synthetic Fe3O4  prepared from iron sand. The iron sand was obtained from north coast of Central Java. The preparation of synthetic Fe3O4 produced nanoparticles having a size of 82,42 – 110,9 nm. The characterization using XRD indicated that Fe2O4 content in the iron sand was 30%, and increased to 76% in the synthetic materials. In addition, the synthetic materials has additional phase of Al0.95 Ga0.05. The ferrogel was prepared by mixing the synthetic materials with PVA (Polyphinyl alcohol). The ferrogel was characterized for its magnetoelasticity properties so that it can be used for artificial muscles. The results of magneto- elasticity ferrogel characterization showed that the higher the concentration of Fe3O4 filler in PVA matrix, the higher the deviation and elongation. However,  the impurity of Al0.95 Ga0.05 in the ferrogel seemed to cause its magnetoelasticity to be less than optimum.

Abstract

In 2012, media quite often proclaim the existence of a robbery in the various regions of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The robberies were reported in about 222 of criminal reports until the end of November 2012 and 39 cases occured especially in bussiness offices. In robbery situation, the victims will panic commonly and may be under a pressure so they are difficult to ask for help using normal communication. The system was built to help the victims to request assistance through their Android devices immediately. The system is capable of transmitting data into server at the police station through internet and send SMS to police’s cellular phone by pressing a shortcut. The system works by utilizing the GPS signal. The system has been tested by a number of respondents with good results.

Abstract

Oxidative stress induced by the radicals have been known to affect the occurrence of various degenerative disease. As the search for natural antioxidant compounds had been studied the isolation and identification of antioxidant compounds in fern stems (Alsophila glauca J.Sm) using DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl 2-picrylhydrazyl). Fern stem extraction was done by maceration with wasbenzen and metanol. Extracts was obtained by evaporating the wasbenzen solvent with a rotavapor. Material was re-macerated with methanol after all wasbenzen evaporation. The same way was done on  wasbenzen to obtain the metanol extract. These extracts were tested for antioxidant activity using DPPH method with TLC. Active extract was partitioned in 80% methanol. Extracts both soluble and insoluble in methanol 80% were tested their antioxidant activity using DPPH method (TLC). Active extract was fractionated in vacuum liquid chromatography using a mobile phase with different polarity gradient and different concentrations (wasbenzen:chloroform). Active  fraction  was  isolated  by  preparative TLC method and purity of compounds obtained was tested by TLC. Antioxidant activity of isolates obtained were tested by DPPH method using spectrophotometry. Compounds known to had antioxidant activity as radical catcher with IC50 178.4 µg/ml.
