Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Corn is one of the national strategic commodities, playing a crucial role in supporting food security and other industries. The demand for Corn is increasing due to the development of the food and animal feed industries. Although Corn production in 2024 experienced a surplus of 2.98%, there are still challenges in meeting domestic Corn needs. Fluctuating production, climate change, land degradation, and dependence on imports are major issues in Corn development. The government aims to produce 16.7 million tons of Corn by 2025 as part of its strategy to reduce imports and increase food self-sufficiency. In addition, the surge in demand for animal feed resulting from increased animal protein consumption is also driving the priority of developing this commodity. The Local Economic Development Program can be one of the supporting efforts in increasing Corn production as a strategy to fulfil food security. As a community empowerment program initiated by DSLNG, this program can reach three sub-districts in Banggai Regency: Batui, Nambo, and Kintom. One of the focuses of the Local Economic Development Program is to support the increase of local corn production, especially in the Kintom District. As a result of the assistance provided by the company, the corn harvest can reach 4,683 kg, equivalent to IDR 21,073,500, specifically in the Kintom Sub-district.

Abstract

The community empowerment program implemented in Air Anyir Village is a collaborative effort between PT PLN Nusantara Power Services Unit PLTU 3 Babel (PLTU Bangka), the local community, and the village government to address environmental and food security challenges. The main issues faced include suboptimal waste management and declining agricultural productivity due to land degradation. This program adopted a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach and involved Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with stakeholders across sectors. The program outcomes include the utilization of organic waste for duck feed and maggot cultivation, as well as the processing of FABA (Fly Ash and Bottom Ash) into organic fertilizer (PUFA) for agriculture. In addition, the program strengthens the local economy through the development of duck farming and coastal women-led MSMEs. The program has shown significant environmental impact by reducing waste by up to 600 kg per month and increasing participants’ income by 47%. Intergroup collaboration has also strengthened the village’s social networks, fostering an integrated empowerment ecosystem aligned with sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Abstract

Waste management has become a significant challenge in Tana Duen Village, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, due to the absence of a structured system. The Sapa Tana program was designed using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach by optimizing community-owned human, social, environmental, physical, and financial assets. This article aims to formulate a waste management strategy that not only focuses on environmental aspects but also generates social and economic value. The analysis shows that the stages of discovery, dream, design, define, and destiny can strengthen community participation, enhance the productivity of targeted groups, and promote the creation of a sustainable waste management system. The program also opens opportunities for income generation through the exchange of plastic waste and the utilization of compost. Furthermore, Sapa Tana fosters collective awareness to protect the environment and strengthen social solidarity. Through cross-sector collaboration involving village government, local agencies, and community groups, Sapa Tana has the potential to become a community empowerment model that is responsive to local contexts, nurtures a sense of ownership, and can be replicated in other regions facing similar challenges.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of athlete empowerment and environmental conservation through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnership of PT Bukit Pembangkit Innovative (BPI) in Lahat Regency, South Sumatra, using social ecology perspective by Murray Bookchin (1991). The research is grounded in the socio-ecological challenges posed by land-use change and forest degradation, alongside the potential of youth as agents of change. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis of two flagship programs: Pembinaan Federasi Panjat Tebing (FPTI) Kabupaten Lahat (Banjarsari Cipta Prestasi) and Bina Alam Hijau Asri Indah (BAHARI) Banjarsari (environmental conservation). Findings reveal that athlete training not only enhances physical capacity and sports achievements but also fosters ecological awareness through direct involvement in reforestation and greening activities across three villages, resulting in the planting of 400 trees with both ecological and economic value. Cross-sector collaboration—engaging the company, sports federation, village governments, local communities, and the Garis Milang organization—has created an inclusive and participatory socio-ecological network. In conclusion, PT BPI’s CSR partnership serves as an integrative medium that simultaneously advances human capacity building and environmental preservation. This model demonstrates the potential for replication in other regions, as it successfully combines sports excellence, community empowerment, and ecological sustainability within a unified strategic framework.
