Abstract

The Blimbing Paciran Market is a bustling economic activity center, but the available parking facilities are still limited and poorly organized. This causes parking irregularities and congestion around the market area. The main problem raised in this study is the suboptimal capacity of the parking area to accommodate the increasing number of vehicles, especially bemo vehicles. This study aims to evaluate the parking area at Blimbing Market, Paciran, in order to determine the optimal capacity for two-wheeled, three-wheeled, and four-wheeled vehicles. The research location experiences high market activity, yet the limited parking facilities often lead to disorganized parking and congestion. The research methods employed in this study are quantitative and qualitative approaches based on statistical analysis. The results of the study showed that over a 7-day observation period, the average accumulation per day was 37 motorcycles, 16 bemos (three-wheeled vehicles), and 6 cars. The average parking duration was 26 minutes for motorcycles, 29 minutes for bemos, and 29 minutes for cars. The average parking volume was recorded at 183 motorcycles, 40 bemos, and 23 cars. The parking index indicated average values of 38.99% for motorcycles, 129.76% for bemos, and 58.44% for cars. The average parking turnover rate was found to be 1.90 for motorcycles, 3.31 for bemos, and 2.08 for cars.

Abstract

Global warming is a phenomenal issue today and is one of the challenges for the population in Indonesia. This environmental impact has an effect on global warming, for example, the reduction of green land due to development, waste of energy and building materials that are not environmentally friendly. Therefore, the concept of green construction was introduced in the scope of civil buildings. The purpose of this study is to obtain the percentage of contractors' understanding of the concept of green construction, and to obtain information about what obstacles are faced by contractors in Jambi Province in implementing the concept of green construction. This research was conducted using a questionnaire method, namely with data directly collected by researchers from the field. And for data processing, it is carried out by descriptive methods. The population was taken from contractors handling building projects in Jambi province in 2023 where the sample was 10 contractors. The results of the study show that the percentage of contractors' understanding of the concept of green construction is familiar with the term green construction. And the obstacle factor for contractors in Jambi province in implementing the concept of green construction is the lack of detailed rules regarding the concept of green construction and the lack of artenative materials and implementation in implementing green construction.

Abstract

Premature pavement damage caused by heavy traffic loads remains a major challenge in Indonesia’s transportation infrastructure. One potential solution is the use of local materials such as Asbuton, particularly Buton Granular Asphalt (BGA) type B 5/20, as fine aggregate. This study aims to analyze the Marshall characteristics of Asphalt Concrete–Wearing Course (AC-WC) mixtures incorporating BGA B 5/20 and fly ash as filler. The research employed the Marshall test method on 60 specimens, with variations in asphalt content (5%–7%) and BGA composition (2%, 2.5%, and 3%) combined with 1.5% fly ash. Parameters evaluated include stability, flow, density, and Marshall Quotient (MQ). The results show that the optimum asphalt content of 6.2% provided the best performance in the mixture containing 2% BGA and 1.5% fly ash, yielding a stability of 1,755.21 kg, flow of 3.21 mm, density of 2.271 gr/cc, and residual MQ of 98.18%. All values met the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works specifications for heavy traffic pavements. In conclusion, the incorporation of BGA B 5/20 enhances the stability and deformation resistance of AC-WC mixtures, supporting the sustainable use of local materials in road construction.

Abstract

Mount Marapi in West Sumatra is an active mountain with a history of disasters, including galodo or flash floods due to eruptions and high rainfall. The soil material carried by the galodo greatly influences the potential for disaster. This research analyzes the classification and characteristics of galodo soil material and its relationship with disaster potential, as well as determining mitigation efforts that can be carried out. This research method uses laboratory experiments. Soil samples were taken from 16 points at seven river locations, namely Batang Jambu, Batang Malanang, Batang Bangkahan, Batang Arau, Sungai Talang, and Batang Anai, with a distance of 50 meters between points. Samples were collected in the form of disturbed soil, which was then analyzed to determine its physical and mechanical properties. The results showed that the galodo soil material was classified as sand (SW), silty sand (SM), and clayey sand (SC). Its physical properties include a specific gravity of 2.65-2.67, a bulk density of 1.61-1.96 gr/cm3, and a plasticity index of 8.25-9.17%. Mechanically, the soil has a cohesion of 0.029–0.071 kg/cm2 and a deep shear angle of 26.57–37.77°. These characteristics indicate non-cohesive properties, so when saturated due to high rainfall, the pore water pressure increases and causes high-speed debris flow. The kinetic energy of these flows can damage riverbanks, settlements, and infrastructure. Mitigation measures include structural measures such as the construction of check dams, groundsills, and sabo dams, as well as non-structural measures such as early warning, disaster education, and limiting settlements on riverbanks.

Abstract

The construction industry is one of the sectors with a high level of risk, particularly concerning Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). These risks may include potential workplace accidents, schedule delays, cost overruns, asset damage, and disruptions to work quality. Understanding and managing these risks is crucial to minimizing the negative impacts that may arise during project execution, including in South Sumatra Province. This study aims to identify risks that emerge due to the lack of OHS implementation in construction projects, in order to formulate strategies for risk prevention and mitigation. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to respondents from 5 building construction projects and 8 civil construction projects in South Sumatra, involving a total of 31 respondents. The analysis reveals that the highest risks in building construction projects include falling from heights, injuries caused by manual tools, and being struck by heavy equipment. Based on the data, the risk identification indicates that falling from heights is the most frequent incident. These three risks consistently received a mean score of 5, indicating a very high category in risk assessment. The causes of these risks include the failure to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and unsafe, hazardous, or unhealthy workplace conditions. Risk control measures that are routinely implemented include the installation of OHS signage and safety lines, regular OHS communication with workers, routine inspections and evaluations of tools and heavy equipment, and the availability of work methods and programs. To further reduce these risks, risk control is carried out following the hierarchy of controls, beginning with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Administrative Controls, Engineering Controls, Substitution, and Elimination.

Abstract

Indonesia remains one of the countries with the highest rates of construction accidents, with the main issues related to safety in construction projects, particularly during the design phase. Therefore, the role of design consultants is crucial in assessing safety risks throughout the design process, in accordance with the Guidelines of the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 10 of 2021 on the Construction Safety Management System (CSMS). The research objective is to evaluate the understanding and challenges of Safety in Design (SID) practices in bridge planning projects. The study was validated using data triangulation techniques and analyzed using mixed methods. The results of the study indicate that the percentage of SMKK implementation in the Work Framework Document (KAK) for bridge project planning is 60% and 62% (good implementation), based on interviews with planning consultants, who reported an average SMKK implementation rate of 39,22% (poor implementation). Meanwhile, the questionnaire results on SMKK implementation have a percentage of 50,50% (poor implementation). The conclusion indicates that the level of understanding and practice of Safety in Design (SID) based on Ministerial Regulation No. 10 of 2021 on the Construction Safety Management System (SMKK) in bridge project planning in Indonesia has not been effectively implemented, as there are several barriers to applying the RK-SMKK in design.

Abstract

Urban congestion in rapidly growing cities like Jakarta necessitates efficient, data-driven transportation planning. As part of Indonesia’s efforts to modernize its urban mobility systems, the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) has emerged as a strategic initiative to reduce traffic dependency on private vehicles. While Phase 1 of MRT Jakarta has been operational since 2019, Phase 2 development requires a reliable forecasting framework to anticipate future passenger demand and support infrastructure planning. However, previous studies often rely on macroeconomic projections rather than empirical operational data, leaving a gap in predictive accuracy. This study aims to analyze the influence of MRT Jakarta phase 1 operational data on the prediction of passenger numbers in phase 2 as the basis for evidence-based transportation development planning using a hybrid approach: ARIMA forecasting and multiple linear regression modeling. Primary data were gathered from 125 MRT users via Likert-scale surveys, while secondary data were derived from MRT Jakarta’s operational reports from 2019–2023. Here we show that service quality and multimodal integration significantly increase ridership, while fare levels and poor accessibility negatively affect passenger volume. The ARIMA model, however, shows limited accuracy (R² = 0.164; MAPE = 62.225%), indicating high variability due to pandemic-induced fluctuations. In contrast, regression analysis explains 44.1% of ridership variation, offering a more actionable basis for forecasting. These findings suggest that MRT Phase 2’s success will depend not only on physical expansion but also on improved intermodal integration, user-centered service quality, and competitive fare strategies. The study contributes to transport planning by integrating quantitative modeling with user behavior insights for data-driven infrastructure scheduling.

Abstract

In order to promote efficiency and transparency in the government procurement of goods and services, the use of e-catalogues has been implemented to accelerate information. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to the shortcomings of e-catalog use in construction projects. For this study, interviews were conducted with Pejabat Pembuat Komitmen (PPK)  from construction projects in the Bidang Cipta Karya Dinas Bina Marga Cipta karya dan Tata Ruang Provinsi Sumatera Barat regarding e-catalog version 5. Data analysis was performed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that the e-catalog system is deemed unsuitable for construction projects. Some shortcomings of the e-catalog compared to the tender system in construction projects include the following: 1) insufficient socialization by the government to both service users and providers; 2) regulations that are still biased regarding guidelines for selecting providers and standardizing construction products; 3) limited and incomplete products that are not always available; and 4) ineffective price negotiations, which should only be used for imbalanced prices. High PPK workload due to direct provider selection by the PPK without going through the Pokja. The system is not yet integrated according to needs. Examples include the SIKaP database not being updated and the manual calculation system for selecting service providers, which can lead to typing errors by providers and service users. Therefore, applying procurement principles for goods and services through the e-catalog to construction projects is far from efficient or effective.
