Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the Discovery learning model can affect the students' High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) ability in the blood circulation system. This research was conducted by assessing the cognitive aspects of students, analyzed by descriptive methods using instruments in the form of essay questions and learning observation sheets. The method used in this study is a weak experiment. The subject in this study is 38 students at one high school in Indonesia. Based on the research results, the Discovery Learning model affects the students' High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) ability by increasing the average pretest score of 52.23 to 69.47 in the average posttest score. Wilcoxon test results obtained asymp. sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 0.05, then H0 is rejected and it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average student learning outcomes between the pretest and posttest. it can be concluded, Discovery Learning model can affect the ability of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the feasibility of Bacteria magz as alternative learning resources on the bacteria concept of senior high school. The method used in this research is a product feasibility test using a Likert scale. We used three experts to validate the Bacteria magz that have an expertises and experiences in learning media, bacteria concept, and alternative learning sources. The results of the expert test evaluation on the aspect of the media were 93,25%, while on the material aspect was 87,5%. The average value of the Bacteria magz as alternative learning sources was 90,37%. The Bacteria magz as alternative learning resources on bacteria concept was very suitable for ten grade students of senior high school.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the students' interest and cognitive ability through the implementation of comic media on the environmental pollution concept at one of Junior High School in Serang City, Indonesia. The method used in this study is a descriptive research. The subject in this study was class VII.2. The class was chosen because of the information from the subject teacher that it has students who are less active in learning and obtained the lowest average score of all class VII in the first semester. The data collection technique used non-test instruments in observation sheets and questionnaires to determine the students' interest. The test instrument was in multiple-choice questions and open-ended essay to determine the students' cognitive ability. The results showed students' interest as measured by observation and questionnaires were in the high category with 56% and 88%, respectively. The average value of the students' cognitive ability is 65.59, with a good category. It can be concluded that the implementation of comic media can foster students' interest in learning. The results of this study can be a suggestion for curriculum developers to use comics as an alternative media for an exciting learning process. Future studies can focus more on specific comic components that can attract students' attention in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the emotional maturity and learning motivation of students through distance learning. The method used in this research is the quantitative method with survey technique. The data collection technique used a non-test technique with an online questionnaire instrument. The participants in this study included 35 Indonesian High School Student in Indonesia, which represented the accreditation criteria. The average value of students' emotional maturity during the Covid-19 pandemic as a whole was in a good category, with a score of 61.6%. This result shows that high school students with an age range of 15-18 years have a relatively good level of emotional maturity even though they are in distance learning adjustments due to Covid-19. Furthermore, the average value of student learning motivation is in a good category, with 66.5%, which shows that students can maintain learning motivation even in distance learning. Therefore, we can conclude that emotional maturity and learning motivation are still in the good category because students are still not familiar with distance learning, which is quite different from offline learning. Researchers offer suggestions to increase emotional maturity and learning motivation to increase teacher participation and the quality of parenting in distance learning. Students must be good at positive thinking and be themselves in adapting to the new environment.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of learning using local potential of Pulau Tunda on the creative thinking skills of class XII students on biotechnology concept. The method used is quasi-experimental and research design used in this study is a posttest-only control design. The independent variable in this study is Biotechnology learning using local potential of Pulau Tunda while the dependent variable is the creative thinking skills. The subject in this study were students at one high school in Indonesia consists of two classes, namely class XII IPA 2 as an experimental class and XII IPA 3 as a control class. The sampling technique is done simply random sampling. Data were collected through posttest to measure students' creative thinking skills and student response questionnaires Ability results creative thinking was analyzed using the t-test. Based on those results that there is an influence of learning with the utilization of the local potential of the Pulau Tunda on students' creative thinking skills on biotechnology concept.
