Abstract

Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria Rhizobacteria (PGPR) is one of the potential bacteria to enhance of Capsicum annuum through inhabitation the growth of pathogenic fungi. This study aimed to characterize PGPR in chili plants (Capsicum annuum). PGPR was isolated from the soil habitat of the red chili plant in Cilegon, Indonesia. Screening was then carried out with the dual culture method on Petri dishes and tested through in vivo method on the red chili plant. The selected bacteria were characterized morphologically, biochemically, and physiologically. The results revealed that there were 14 single isolates of bacteria from the roots of the red chili plants. The five single bacterial isolates, namely Azostobacter, Azospirillum, Pseudomonas, Serratia, and Beijerinckia have good potential as PGPR based on multiple culture screening by producing clear zones and positively effect the growth of chili plants.

Abstract

Oyster mushroom is a mushroom that can be consumed, because it contains many nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acid. Nowadays, demand for oyster mushroom in Indonesia continues to increase, especially in the lowland like Tangerang. Knowing this, it needs effort to control the habitat that oyster mushrooms can be cultivated. This research was conducted by giving three treatments where the first treatment directly using sun light, the second treatment using a lamp with 5 watts power, and a third treatment using a lamp with 15 watts power. The data obtained are progress of baglog and temperature measurements in each treatment and then the data were analyzed using ANOVA test. With 5% significance level, research results between treatments using direct sunlight with the light from the lamp gives a significantly different effect, while between a lamp with 5 watt power and a lamp with 15 watt power do not give a significantly different effect. Best oyster mushroom growth obtained at treatment using a lamp with 5 watts power.

Abstract

White oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is a type of beneficial mushroom, widely used for consumption, medicinal ingredients, as well as business-oriented cultivation. Nutrition and light intensity are two of the most influential factors for the growth of white oyster mushroom mycelium. Nutrients such as water used for rice cooking (traditionally called air leri) and glucose solution are thought to be potential sources of nutrients, but it is not known which nutrients are more suitable for the growth of white oyster mushroom mycelium. This research was conducted to find out the growth rate difference of white oyster mushroom mycelium produced by vary LED (Light-Emitting Diode) light intensity (sequentially 0 lux, 103 lux, 2x103 lux, 3x103 lux, and 4x103 lux ), air leri nutrition with a 1:1 dilution ratio, glucose solution with 1:3 ratio. Processed data showed that the growth rate of white oyster mushroom mycelium with air leri nutrition for 18 days is better than glucose solution, while low light intensity will affect the color to the growth rate of mycelium on the bag log medium.

Abstract

Dates palms (Phoenix dactylifera L.) are species of plants which can be found commonly in the Middle East. The fruits are occasionally found and consumed during Ramadhan. There are several factors which can affect the growth of the plant, mycorrhiza is one of the example. Mycorrhiza is a form of mutualistic symbiosis between the root of plants and fungus. This symbiosis is proven to be favorable for plants, as it can help the absorption of the nutrient, help the defensive mechanism against pathogens, and support the plant to cope with the water deficiency. Furthermore, the plants may also have an alternate form of mutualistic symbiosis with the bacteria called endophytic bacteria which involves in the transaction of nutrient and mineral. This study requires the isolation of microorganisms that can be found within the root of date palms. The isolation can be done with the usage of Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) as the media. There were several microorganisms which can be found within the isolated plant’s root. Through identification based on its morphology characteristics, the microorganism that was found probably are Staphylococcus; Bacillus subtillis; Glomeromycota sp., and Glomaceae sp. Keywords: Bacteria, dates, Glomaceae sp., Glomeromycota sp., mycorhizza

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the indigenous Mushroom Growth Promoting Bacteria (MGPB) bacteria that can increase the growth of Volvariella volvacea. The research began by isolating indigenous MGPB from planting media of straw mushrooms in Karawang, Indonesia. The screening was performed to select bacterial isolates that can promote the highest growth of mushrooms by dual culture method on PDA media. There were 10 of the 58 highest bacterial isolates that have a positive effect on the vegetative growth of mushrooms. The 23K bacterial isolate was the most significant increase in mycelium growth compared to other isolates and bacteria-induced controls. A bacterial isolate 25K by gene analysis was identified by 16S rRNA (518F primer (5’- CCA-GCA-GCC-GCG-GTA-ATA-CG -3’) and 800R primer (5’- TAC-CAG-GGT-ATC-TAA-TCC -3’). The result from gene analysis shows that there are ~1550 base pairs products. BLAST analysis and phylogenetic tree adjustment results show that the closest diversity of this bacterial isolate 25K is Bacillus thuringiensis serovar konkukian str. 92-27 (equality value = 99%).
