Abstract

Empthy Fruit Bunches (EFB) is biomass from Palm Oil Mills with high cellulose content. Cellulose can be used for the manufacture of coatings, clothing fibers, bioplastics, papers and membranes. Obtaining pure cellulose for these products generally is begun with the stages of removing the following impurities, through steaming or boiling. This study aims to compare the characteristics of the EFB fiber from the two processes. Comparisons were made by steaming and boiling EFB fiber at 80℃ for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. The fibers was tested for water absorption, density and tensile strength. The test results showed that the boiling process produced brighter colored fibers, tensile strength and water absorption were also better with values of 107.40 kgf/cm2 and 62.46%. Meanwhile, for the density value is is the same for each variation.

This research consists of three focuses, namely the budget, socialization, and participation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study concluded that the budget funds owned by the PKK group were not optimal. This can be seen from the minimum budget for the PKK Program which does not reach 10 percent. Abstract

Batu City is often used as a tourist destination city for the community, because it has beautiful nature and is surrounded by mountains and cool air which is one of its attractions. More tourists who visit are dominated by people outside Batu City, which results in higher transportation density. If this situation is not supported by good facilities or infrastructure in the field of traffic, it can have a major impact on traffic conditions. Traffic accidents that are very diverse, both in terms of the process of occurrence and the causal factors, often occur on the roads in Batu City. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that cause accidents on the Rajekwesi road in Batu City. The research design used is a quantitative method with descriptive and survey research types. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The results of the study are based on accident data analysis for calculating the average accident equivalent number (AEK) of 53. Factors causing accidents which include human factors, vehicle factors, road factors, and environmental factors, indicate that Rajekwesi road, Batu City is classified as a vulnerable area accident. The need for additional road complementary facilities can be one of the efforts to reduce accidents on the Rajekwesi road, Batu City.

Abstract

Karangkates Village has problems in handling waste where as the population increases, the amount of waste generated increases. The Temporary Waste Storage Site (TPS) is no longer able to accommodate the rate of waste generation, so a waste management plan at the TPS is needed to help with existing waste handling problems. There are 2 alternative waste management approaches that are expected to be used as a solution to solving the waste problem, namely TPST and TPS3R. The concept of integrated waste management includes the activities of reducing, sorting, collecting, utilizing, transporting and processing. TPS 3R is carried out by processing wet and dry waste which aims to reduce the amount of waste generation. Waste management at TPS in general as an effort to empower the community requires special stages that lead to local wisdom. Efforts to reduce household waste Waste disposed of in excavations based on its type, namely organic and inorganic waste. Organic waste is left alone because over time it will decompose along with the soil and make it fertile, while inorganic waste is burned because it cannot decompose naturally. This is pro-environmental behavior. With increasing globalization and lack of land in the region, waste is picked up by garbage collectors and dumped at the final collection point. Environmental knowledge, local wisdom, and environmental attitudes are classified as very significant and make a real contribution to people's behavior in managing waste in housing.
