"Daiwi Widya" is a journal of education that is managed by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Panji Sakti. It aims at accomodating the results of studies or researches or reviews in the field of education. Daiwi Widya publishes research results that review educational processes in terms of educational methods, educational models, case studies particularly educational studies and classroom action research. The incoming articles are reviewed by Expert Editors who are accordance with the field of educational scholarship totaling five people. Daiwi Widya is published twice each volume that is June, December and special edition. The purpose of this educational journal is to publish conceptual thoughts or ideas and research results obtained in the field of education. The major focus of this journal is in the development of science particularly in the field of education.

Abstract

The concept ‘communicative competence’ covers four main aspects: grammatical competence traditionally dealing with syntax; sociolinguistic competence dealing with social appropriateness of communication; discourse competence dealing with cohesive and coherence in discourse; and strategic competence focusing on pragmatic function of communication. Those aspects of communicative competence have received great attention in language and literacy education, particularly in second language learning. However, little attention is given to the ability to employ different tactics by language users in achieving this goal. This paper examines this neglected area of communicative strategic competence and their implications for research and teaching.

Abstract

Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas belajar dan pemahaman konsep kimia siswa melalui pembelajaran 5M dan pertanyaan sokratik. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, terdiri atas perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi,evaluasi, refleksi. Subjek penelitian seluruh siswa kelas X MIPA-5 SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja tahun pelajaran 2018/2019 berjumlah 32 orang terdiri dari 18 laki-laki dan 14 perempuan. Objek penelitian aktivitas belajar siswa, pemahaman konsep kimia siswa dan respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran. Pembelajaran 5M dan pertanyaan sokratik dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar dan pemahaman konsep kimia siswa. Siklus I menunjukkan aktivitas kategori aktif dengan skor rerata 13,3 dan pemahaman konsep kimia memperoleh rerata tes hasil belajar 68,19. Pada siklus II, aktivitas meningkat dengan skor rerata 14,2 kategori aktif dan pemahaman konsep kimia memperoleh rerata tes hasil belajar 72,21. Siswa merespon cukup positif terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran dengan 52,9% siswa menyatakan setuju.
