Abstract

Economic growth in Indonesia is shaped by the dynamics of international trade, especially through agricultural imports, foreign direct investment (FDI), and exchange rates. The main goal of this research is to explore how agricultural imports, foreign direct investment (FDI), and exchange rates have influenced economic growth in Indonesia from 1990 to 2020. Data from the years 1990 to 2020 was gathered for this study, focusing on variables such as economic development, sales of agricultural products abroad, purchases of agricultural products from other countries, foreign investment, and currency exchange values. The information was sourced from the World Bank. To evaluate the research hypothesis, an econometric model was constructed utilizing the Error Correction Model (ECM) technique, with calculations performed using E-Views version 10. The findings suggest that agricultural imports, FDI, and exchange rates have a lasting impact on Indonesia's economy, with agricultural commodity imports having a negative impact due to increased pressure on domestic agricultural products that struggle to compete with cheaper imported commodities. Investment and exchange rates have a negative and insignificant effect on economic growth in the short term. Therefore, government policies that limit agricultural imports and maintain exchange rate stability are crucial in supporting sustainable economic growth and protecting the domestic agricultural sector from the negative impacts of international trade.

Abstract

Despite efforts toward industrialization since 1960, Nigeria remains underdeveloped as of 2020 and may not achieve significant industrialization by 2040. Numerous investment policies have been implemented, yet poverty rates continue to rise. This study examines the responses of poverty to manufacturing sector performance in Nigeria, relying on country specific data from 1981 to 2022. The role of industrialization hung on the development and improvement of the manufacturing sector to reduce poverty. Historical evidences suggest that manufacturing performances had little impact on poverty reduction in Nigeria over the period. We used dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) techniques to show that manufacturing sector performance can reduced poverty by at least 9 percentage points at an instance of manufacturing performance growth albeit small. We argued for local content financial assistance as an effective financial model to manufacturing sector improvement for poverty reduction as an option against external finances as a policy option.

Abstract

In today's digital era, cyberloafing which refers to surfing the web for personal reasons during work hours is a major workplace issue. A policy was put in place at XYZ Agency in July 2024 to control internet usage and curb cyberloafing. The policy is meant to boost productivity, but its impact is still uncertain. Even with the policy, some employees continue cyberloafing on personal internet connections, leading to concerns about its effect on their work performance and how self-control and work procedures play a role in this behavior. This study seeks to investigate the impact of cyberloafing on productivity, influenced by levels of self-discipline and workplace protocols. Employing a quantitative method, the research involved 100 participants from the XYZ Agency. Utilizing Smart PLS 3.0 software, the data was examined to ascertain connections between different factors. The results indicated that cyberloafing had a notable, albeit modest, positive effect on performance measures within this study, with a coefficient of 0.161. Workplace procedures, acting as a moderating element, were found to have a detrimental impact on the correlation between cyberloafing and employee productivity. However, self-control was not found to significantly alter or moderate the link between cyberloafing and job performance.

Abstract

This study reviews and assesses accountability practices in campaign fund financial reports. In addition, this study also aims to analyze the level of compliance of political parties and legislative candidates in the transparency of campaign fund disclosure according to the applicable reporting standards according to the general election commission. Research subjects include party members, candidates, accounting experts, and the public. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using qualitative methods. The findings reveal six themes indicating that political parties view accountability as a tool for performance measurement, financial balance verification, and evidence of compliance. Campaign fund management also acts as a communication bridge between candidates, parties, and stakeholders, fulfilling accountability responsibilities to the government, which provides KPU-permitted contributions. Additionally, transparency in campaign fund reporting reflects compliance with election commission standards, which influences the commission's assessment of candidates' responsibilities, ensuring campaign funds are reported separately and accurately per regulatory requirements.
