Abstract

The use of digital technologies such as applications and websites can be seen at almost every level of education today. However, the main problem in pursuing the goal of teaching English is the imbalance between the material being taught and the time to teach the material. In the English language, there are certain skills that need to be mastered, particularly in the area of writing.   One important aspect of writing skills is the ability to compose report texts, which is deemed essential for students. The primary objective of this article is to explore how students perceive the use of Padlet as a tool to enhance their report writing skills. The research methodology employed for this study is descriptive qualitative in nature. The qualitative information gathered from a survey conducted among students regarding their opinions on using Padlet for improving writing skills was analyzed. Questionnaires and interview guidelines served as the research tools. The questionnaire results were analysed in terms of percentages and then combined with insights from the interviews to create narrative summaries. The participants exhibited positive attitudes towards utilizing Padlet for writing report texts. Additionally, they highlighted the opportunities that Padlet offers for students to enhance their English skills, particularly in collaborative writing activities.

Abstract

Gender stereotypes and gender issues exist in English materials. Research investigating gender stereotypes in English learning materials in the Indonesian ELT context revealed gender issues focusing on male dominance. A need analysis was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Gedangan to examine the current needs and conditions in the school environment. The result showed that gender bias and stereotypes exist in English materials. This research aims to develop gender-inclusive teaching module of Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum) using AADIE for tenth grade students. An ADDIE research design serves as a guidance in developing the digital teaching module in this research. The expert validation resulted in a final score of 55 out of 100 which means the product is good to use with some minor revisions. After the revision process, the product was implemented to class X AK 1. The results of the product implementation showed good results in students' understanding of gender inclusiveness in reading and speaking skills. TPACK as a framework is used in this research since it helps teachers to combine content, pedagogy, and technology to create effective learning. Multimodal and scaffolding frameworks allow product development to fulfil students' and teachers' needs.

Abstract

Student centered learning (SCL) focuses on students achieving learning objectives. This study aims to determine the impact of applying student centered learning (SCL) learning methods in embedded system programming subjects. The student centered learning (SCL) method is used to train creativity and improve student understanding in carrying out practical learning in the classroom. The subjects of this study were 64 students of class XI Electronics Engineering from 2 classes, namely TE 1 and TE 2. This research used descriptive qualitative research methods. The data analysis used is descriptive statistics. In each meeting, students can fulfill the expected learning concepts and fulfill part of the learning outcomes so that the learning objectives and practicum results can be achieved well. The results showed that the application of the student centered learning (SCL) model can improve student learning outcomes by 4,12%, obtained from learning results with an average job sheet work value of 83.71 in the TE 1 class and 84.28 in the TE 2 class. This shows that through the student centered learning (SCL) approach students can understand and practice the learning material well. The application of learning with the student centered learning (SCL) model received a positive response from students because students felt freer in learning and practicing embedded system programming material.

Abstract

Japanese Graphic Design works have distinctive characteristics in the use of typography. The different writing systems of Japanese and Latin characters cause differences in the formation of typography. The research was conducted to explore the differences in character and arrangement between typography for phonetic symbols, ideography in script and Latin. The research was conducted by experiment through comparison, taking 5 font samples each from 3 different letter forms. The results of the research describe the differences in character formation, the basic axis of letters.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on observations carried out by researchers at SDN 105321 Batang Kuis. During the observation, the researchers discovered a problem, namely the students' low reading ability. Based on the results of interviews conducted with homeroom teachers regarding students' reading abilities, it was found that students' reading abilities were still low, with many students unable to recognize letters. This is attributed to the limited media available for use in learning and the fact that many students did not go through early childhood education before continuing their elementary school education. This research aims to develop word card media for initial reading material for grade I elementary school students. The study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method. The results of the research show that the word card media is declared suitable for use as a learning medium, with an assessment percentage from media experts of 99.9% and an assessment percentage from material experts of 90.6%. These percentages indicate a very good category from the feasibility test assessment by both media and material experts. Furthermore, the results of the research conducted on 27 students received an assessment carried out by the homeroom teacher as an observer during the field trial process. This assessment yielded a percentage of 95%, which falls into the very good category. The word card media was deemed suitable for use as a learning medium and was able to improve students' reading abilities..

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language learning within English and Arabic classes. The research involved 18 participants, encompassing learners and teachers of both languages. It aims to understand their experiences, perceptions, and challenges when incorporating AI into language education. Learners demonstrated diverse use of AI tools such as Chat GPT, Grammarly, and Elsa, leveraging them for various language learning aspects including writing enhancement, speaking practice, and translation. While English learners extensively employed multiple AI tools, Arabic learners primarily relied on Chat GPT for scientific paper writing, with limited exploration of other available AI variations. Participants generally viewed AI integration positively, recognizing its facilitative role in learning, yet raised concerns about potential over-reliance, plagiarism risks, reduced creativity, and inaccuracies. Teachers relied on Grammarly for grammar correction and Chat GPT for language tasks, emphasizing the need for human validation to ensure contextual accuracy despite acknowledging AI benefits. Challenges identified included limited access due to premium features, connectivity issues, and ethical concerns surrounding AI-generated content. The study emphasizes AI's significance as a valuable aid in language education while cautioning against excessive reliance. It highlights the necessity for human intervention to validate AI-generated content, stressing critical thinking and a balanced approach to leverage AI's advantages while mitigating its potential drawbacks.
