Academic Journal Perspective Education Language and Literature e ISSN 2621 6981 and p ISSN 2354 7340 is a biannual journal published by Lembaga Penelitian The Institute of Research University of Swadaya Gunung Jati in Cirebon and in collaboration with AsiaCall Vietnam. The journal publishes twice a year in May and November. This journal published manuscripts in the areas of English Language Teaching ELT and Literature. The journal publishes both conceptual and research based articles on the areas of teaching English as a second or foreign language English language teaching and learning and English language teachers training and education including English Literature. <![CDATA[This research investigated the most effective strategy of interactive reading aloud on the students' personality types in reading comprehension. In this research, the researcher employed quantitative research by using factorial design. Population in this research were the forth semester students of English intensive program in middle level and the sample were 40 students from experimental and control classes. Try out was conducted to measure validity and reliability of instrument. Two ways ANOVA was conducted to test the hypotheses, two-way analysis of variance with F-test at the 5% (0.05) level of significance.The probability based on the personality was 0.043< 2.024, meaning that there was difference between personality types and the use of strategy. The probability based on strategy was 0.374< 2.024, meaning that there was difference result between extroverted and introverted learners. And the probability based on interaction was 0.001< 2.024, meaning that there was interaction between strategy and personality types. In conclusion, there was interaction among interactive reading aloud strategy, students' personality types and reading comprehension. The used of interactive reading aloud significantly influenced to the extroverted students rather than introverted students.]]>

<![CDATA[The research aims to investigate how the educational debating method can foster the students' speaking ability at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Sumber and to find out how the students' activities in learning speaking using the educational debating method in fostering students' speaking ability. This research primarily used a quantitative method to analyze the data with quasi-experimental method was chosen to test the hypothesis because the study focused on only one aspect of investigating, namely speaking ability withiut controlling all variables. There were two classes consisting of 28 students each class as sample in SMAN 1 Sumber. The data was obtained by analyzing students' speaking scores, observation sheet, and questionnaire results. The research found that the speaking scores of the experimental group was higher than the control group and it was also supported by the students' activities from the questionnaire. The students felt that educational debating method can foster their speaking. It made the students enthusiastic to learn and help them to understand the matter of the subject. It was a pleasant and good method in teaching spaking, especially for asking and giving opinion. The students liked to participate in the use of educational debating method because they had an opportunity to study in pairs and improved their achievement in speaking by knowing pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.]]>

<![CDATA[This study is about student teachers' basic teaching skills especially in delivering gaining attention, presenting stimulus materials, and assessing performance. The purpose of this study is to find out whether or not student teachers' skill in gaining attention, presenting stimulus materials, and assessing performance was developed during their teaching practice period. To achieve the first purpose, the data were collected through observations and interviews. The observation was conducted during student teachers' teaching-learning sessions. The interview was conducted to support the data from interview. The source for interview was student teachers' mentor teachers. The result of this study was that two of four student teachers had developed their teaching skills in gaining attention while the other two did not develop their skills. This study has showed that besides students' ability, willingness, and support from mentor teachers abd peers are needed to develop their teaching skills.]]>

<![CDATA[The aims of this research are to find out whether the implementation of NoteTaking Pairs technique effective in teaching reading comprehension at junior high school. The method used in the research is quantitative method and the design is quasi experimental design. The sampling technique used in this research was random sampling. Two classes were taken as the subject namely experimental and control class. The data of test got from both experimental and control class was analyzed by T test formula. The result of calculation showed that t was 6.58, and t with df 75 in account table the significant degree of 5% is 1.992. It means that t is higher than t (6.58 > account table 1.992). The average of post-test in the experimental class was 81, while the KKM of English subject is 75. It can be concluded that Note-Taking Pairs Technique is effective in teaching reading comprehension at junior high school.]]>

<![CDATA[The purposes of this study are: (1) to find out whether there is any positive correlation between risk-taking and Australasian Parliamentary English Debate; (2) to find out whether there is any positive correlation between apeaking ability and Australasian Parliamentary English Debate; (3) to find out whether there is any positive correlation between risk-taking, speaking ability, and Australasian Parliamentary English Debate of the fifthh semester students of English Education Department of Unswagati in academic year 2014-2015.This research is carried out at English Education Department of Unswagati Cirebon. This research was conducted in 3 months, from January to March 2015. The population of this research was the fifth semester students of English Education Department of Unswagati Cirebon. There were 80 students taken as sample for this study using random sampling technique. the data used for this study were collected using performance tests and questionnaire. The data gained from questionnaire and tests were then being analyzed using simple correlation and multiple linier regression.Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that: (1) there is significant positive correlation between risk-taking and Australasian Parliamentary English Debate.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims at revealing: (1) To find out whether Grammar TranslationMethod can improve the reading ability; (2) To find out the strengths and weaknesses of Grammar Translation Method.The Class Action Research was carried out in MA Salafiyah Cirebon in academic year of 2011/2012 from April to June 2012. The population was the first semester of MA Salafiyah in academic year of 2011/2012. The number of population was 22 students.The results of this research were: (1) The Grammar translation Method can Improves the students' reading ability, it can be seen in the table 1; (2) The strengths of Grammar Translation Method was the students challenged to read the difficult texts. And the weakness of Grammar Translation Method was felt bored to memorize the vocabularies and irregular verb.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to investigate the students' motivation in learning Literature using drama technique, to show what kinds of difficulties faced by the students and to show the way how they overcome the problems. The subjects of the research were all the fifth semester students in the academic years of 2014/2015 of UNSWAGATI. There were 12 classes. Each consisted of 25 students. The researcher took K and L class as the sample of her study by using lottre. It means there were 50 students as the sample.Revering to the research questions ad the findings, the researcher found that students had high motivation in learning, facing some difficulties in the learning process like limited vocabulary, cultural gap, the length of the story and feeling shy to act. Concerning the problems, the students had done may solutions. They enriched their action by using gesture, asking their friends, opening notes, reading the script and watching the original videos.There are some suggestions to enhance and find the best way in teaching literature. Practically, in order to gain the learning objective more optimal, lecturer are expected to be more creative in finding drama and enrich the class by teaching them cultural differences. For further researcher, drama is also possible to develope other language skills other than speaking.]]>

<![CDATA[The title of this research is : A PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS ON METAPHORSON CIGARETTE ADVERTISEMENTS. The objective of this study is to analyse the use of metaphor in cigarette advertisement in the view off pragmatic. This is due to the cigarette advertisement is not allowed to advertise their products because cigarette is very dangerous for the cobsumer's health. Therefore, the advertisers use metaphors to hide the real meanings. Thus, teenagers or youths will find difficulties in interpreting the meanings of metaphors used in cigarettes advertisement. This is qualitative research, therefore, it uses descriptive methods using the theories of Yule's, Levinson's, and Thomas. Yules's and Thomas describe about the functions of the illocutionary force of the speech acts; while Nielson and Storik describe the classification of metaphors, added by Levinson's theory that describes about kinds of metaphors and the way too interpret their meanings. After the analysis was executed, the writer found that directives and reoresentatives are mostly used in cigarette advertisement, while in the classification of metaphors, personification are mostly used and kind of metaphors that are mostly used in cigarette advertisement are nominal metaphors.]]>
