Abstract

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data from 2022–2025 show an increase in educated unemployment among university graduates, highlighting a potential mismatch between higher education outcomes and labor market absorption. This study identifies entrepreneurial skills among university students and examines differences based on family background and entrepreneurial education across five dimensions: leadership, reflective communication, risk-taking, creativity and innovation, and future orientation. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 369 FKIP UNS students through an online questionnaire and analyzed using independent-samples t-tests and Mann–Whitney U tests. The results show that students' entrepreneurial skills are at a moderate level, indicating that efforts to strengthen entrepreneurial skills at FKIP UNS have not optimally promoted entrepreneurial career orientation. Family background and entrepreneurship education showed significant differences in entrepreneurial skills levels across all five dimensions: leadership, reflective communication, risk-taking, creativity and innovation, and future orientation. This indicates that students with an entrepreneurial family background tend to demonstrate higher entrepreneurial skills through experience, support, and direct interaction in business management activities. Meanwhile, students who had received entrepreneurship education demonstrated higher levels of entrepreneurial skills through structured learning processes within formal college education curricula.

Abstract

Science learning requires strategies that help students connect prior knowledge, questions, and learning outcomes so that concepts are not merely memorized. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Know, Want, Learn (KWL) strategy on the understanding of science concepts related to energy and its transformations. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent control group type. The sample consisted of 44 fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Trusmi Wetan. Data collection instruments included a 20-item multiple-choice test, observation sheets for teacher and student activities, and documentation. The analysis included descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene’s test, N-Gain, and the independent samples t-test. The average N-Gain for the experimental class was 0.7686 and for the control class was 0.5153. Hypothesis testing yielded t = 6.634 with p < 0.001. These results indicate that, in this study sample, the class that used the KWL strategy demonstrated a higher increase in science concept understanding compared to the control class. This study used a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design without individual randomization; therefore, the results must be interpreted carefully, taking into account the limitations of the design and the scope of the sample, which included only one school.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of students' reasoning profiles in solving geometric problems (flat shapes) in Balinese sewing reviewed from the perspective of gender differences at Widyalaya High School Palu. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects were 1 male and 1 female students from Hindu schools. Data collection techniques use observation and interview techniques. Data analysis techniques include data collection, condensation, presentation, and verification of conclusions. Validity test by conducting time triangulation. The results of this study show: (1) male subjects, after making Balinese sewing, were able to identify that in the Balinese ituk-ituk sewing there were triangular elements in it, in the Balinese taledan sewing there were rectangular elements and in the Balinese tamiang sewing there were circular elements. (2) Female subjects identified in more detail the Balinese ituk-ituk stitching, mentioning the characteristics of a triangular flat shape, in the taledan stitching the subject mentioned the characteristics of a rectangular flat shape and in the Balinese tamiang stitching the base has the characteristics of a circular flat shape.

Abstract

Inclusive education policies in Indonesia mandate equal access to learning for students with special needs, but their implementation in technology-based science learning at the junior high school level remains understudied. This study analyzes the implementation of inclusive education policies regarding the use of science learning technology at SMPN 7 Salatiga the school with the highest number of students with special needs among junior high schools in Salatiga City using the Edward III policy implementation model. This study employed a mixed-methods Exploratory Sequential design, combining semi-structured interviews with confirmatory questionnaires distributed to the school principal, three science teachers, and three Special Education Teachers (GPK). The results indicated that communication and resources were assessed as relatively adequate at the technical level, while the attitudes and organizational structure of the bureaucracy showed greater variation, particularly between the principal and grade-level implementers. The curriculum used remains the standard one and has not been adapted to comply with national regulations mandating curriculum adjustments for students with disabilities. These findings suggest that the success of policy implementation depends more on the individual initiative and adaptability of teachers and GPK than on institutionally structured and coordinated systems, thereby highlighting the need to strengthen evidence-based policies at the school level.

Abstract

Research skills are essential in science education because they enable students to formulate questions, use evidence, and construct defensible solutions, yet these skills are often reported as a single overall score. This study aimed to characterize senior high school students’ research skills across the six facets of the Research Skill Development (RSD) Framework in STEM learning. A quantitative descriptive design involved 30 tenth-grade students from a public senior high school in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia, who participated in a renewable-energy STEM cocurricular program. Students’ written responses from two STEM-based worksheets were assessed using an analytical rubric covering Embark and Clarify, Find and Generate, Evaluate and Reflect, Organize and Manage, Analyze and Synthesize, and Communicate and Apply. Results showed higher performance across all facets in Worksheet 2. Find and Generate increased from 63.3% to 92.1%, whereas Communicate and Apply increased from 37.8% to 85.6% and showed the highest normalized gain (g = 0.71). Embark and Clarify showed the lowest normalized gain (g = 0.45), indicating continuing difficulty in formulating focused and investigable questions. These findings suggest that authentic digital data exploration and engineering design activities supported evidence use, synthesis, and communication, while problem formulation required stronger instructional scaffolding.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is the capacity for logical thought in analyzing information, formulating arguments, and drawing verifiable conclusions. This study aimed to analyze the mathematical reasoning abilities of male and female ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu when solving word problems involving Systems of Linear Equations with Two Variables (SPLDV). A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving two students from class IX-C one male and one female selected purposively based on high mathematics grades in their report cards. The mathematical reasoning indicators used were based on those proposed by Vebrian: (1) making conjectures, (2) performing mathematical manipulations, (3) constructing proofs or providing reasons, and (4) drawing conclusions. Data were collected through observation, written tests, and semi-structured interviews, and subsequently analyzed qualitatively. The results revealed a difference in mathematical reasoning ability between the female and male subjects when solving SPLDV problems. The female student met all mathematical reasoning indicators and was able to correct calculation errors to arrive at the correct answer. Conversely, the male student did not meet all the indicators, particularly regarding the formulation of conjectures, and made several calculation errors. Thus, the female student demonstrated superior mathematical reasoning ability compared to the male student in solving SPLDV problems.

Abstract

Community literacy remains a challenge in improving the quality of human resources, particularly in rural areas. This study aims to analyze the role of the Sibolangit Village Government in improving community literacy through the Night Study Program (Jam Belajar Malam). A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using observation, documentation, and semi-structured interviews with the village head, village officials, parents, and program participants. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that the village government plays four roles: regulator, facilitator, dynamiter, and catalyst. It initiated and coordinated the program, provided learning facilities, encouraged community participation, and supported its sustainability. The program has improved children's learning discipline, reading motivation, and study habits while reducing excessive mobile phone use during the evening. However, its implementation is constrained by limited funding, inadequate facilities, declining participation among junior high school students, and inconsistent parental support. Overall, the Night Study Program has become an effective community-based non-formal education initiative that contributes to strengthening the learning culture and improving literacy in Sibolangit Village.

Abstract

Academic libraries increasingly provide research consultation services to support researchers, lecturers, and students throughout the research process. However, these services may remain fragmented, making it difficult for stakeholders to identify, access, and continue the support they need. This study aimed to map stakeholder user journeys, identify service gaps and pain points, and formulate opportunities for improving academic library research consultation services. A qualitative case study was conducted at the Library of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia. Data were collected through a focus group discussion involving 23 participants and semi-structured interviews with seven informants, comprising two lecturers, one student, one information technology staff member, and three librarians, complemented by observation and document analysis. The data were analyzed thematically to identify recurring patterns across stakeholder experiences. The findings revealed seven interconnected stages of the research consultation journey and five major service gaps involving service visibility, information access, consultation requests, service continuity, and follow-up. Based on these findings, the study developed a User Journey-Based Service Improvement Model connecting stakeholder research needs with accessible consultation, appropriate expertise, responsive support, documentation, feedback, and continuous improvement. The model provides an operational basis for developing more integrated, responsive, and stakeholder-centered research consultation services.

Abstract

Low interest and motivation in mathematics learning remain challenges because they can reduce students’ engagement and participation in classroom activities. This study aimed to describe students’ initial learning interest and motivation, examine the implementation of Game-Based Learning (GBL) assisted by Zep Quiz, and determine its improvement across learning cycles. The study employed Classroom Action Research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model and was conducted in two cycles involving 33 eleventh-grade students at SMA N 1 Kartasura. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using means, percentages, and relative improvement, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that learning interest increased from 67.73% in the pre-cycle to 87.30% in Cycle II, equivalent to a 28.90% relative increase. Learning motivation increased from 67.36% to 88.85%, with a 31.90% relative increase. Student activity also increased from 80.77% in Cycle I to 94.23% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that GBL assisted by Zep Quiz effectively improved students’ interest, motivation, and classroom engagement in mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the guided inquiry learning model assisted by video media on students’ learning motivation and learning outcomes in Science subjects in Grade IV of SDN Petapa. The background of this research is the low learning motivation of students and the suboptimal use of instructional media in Science learning. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Control Group Design, involving two classes: an experimental class that received the guided inquiry model assisted by video media, and a control class that received conventional instruction. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire that had passed validity and reliability testing. The results showed a significant increase in the posttest scores of the experimental class compared to the control class. The paired sample t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the guided inquiry learning model assisted by video media has a significant effect on improving students’ learning motivation. The use of video media helps students understand Science concepts more concretely, attractively, and easily, while the inquiry approach encourages students to actively engage in investigative and discovery-based learning processes.
