Abstract

Jl. PHH Mustofa is an arterial road located in Bandung City. Jl. PHH Mustofa is a national road and functions as a primary arterial road (a road that connects primary areas to city or urban activity centers). It has a road length of 2,372 meters, divided into 4 segments, and has a 4/2 TT road type except for segment 4. Based on the results of the general report analysis of the Bandung City PKL Team Jl. PHH Mustofa is an accident-prone area and is a priority for handling it. The main factor causing accidents on Jl. Mustofa PHH is caused by human factors. Meanwhile, infrastructure factors such as poor road equipment, the condition of signs being covered by trees, and road geometrics not complying with Road Geometric Standards. Meanwhile, human factors are caused by high-speed vehicles, as well as drivers who are careless and less careful when driving. It is hoped that by making efforts to address the safety of these problems, it can reduce the number of traffic accidents and the severity of accident victims on the Jl. PHH Mustofa in Bandung City.

Abstract

The Rohingya ethnic group in Myanmar has experienced systematic discrimination and marginalization since 1962, culminating in denial of citizenship and restrictions on access to basic services. The governments of Myanmar and Bangladesh have both refused to recognise the Rohingya as citizens, leaving them in a stateless state. The escalating ethnic conflict, especially after Myanmar's military offensive in 2017, forced hundreds of thousands of Rohingya to flee to Bangladesh and other countries. Reports from the UN and human rights organizations indicate ethnic cleansing, including killing, rape and torture of the Rohingya. Despite international pressure, Myanmar's government, including leader Aung San Suu Kyi, denies any repression. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is acting as an initiator and mediator in diplomatic efforts to resolve this conflict, but major challenges remain in creating sustainable and equitable solutions for the Rohingya. This study aims to examine the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Rohingya conflict in Myanmar in 2016 – 2017. In this study, the concepts of international organizations and human security are used in analyzing the role of the OIC in resolving the conflict. This study uses qualitative methods and descriptive research types. This study concludes that there are four roles of the OIC, the first and second as initiators and mediators, where most of the OIC's role here is to hold meetings with OIC members to provide assistance to Rohingya refugees. The third is humanitarian, providing assistance for the human rights of the Rohingya, and the fourth is the facilitator, where the OIC, other international organizations, and OIC member countries work together to provide basic assistance and facilities such as education and health to the Rohingya.

Abstract

Artificial insemination (IB) is one of the reproductive technologies that has been widely used to increase the population and production of livestock, including pigs, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The success of the IB program depends not only on the quality of the semen of the studs, but also on the ability to maintain the quality of the semen as well as increase the volume through dilution. Semen dilution aims to reduce the density of spermatozoa and extend their lifespan, so that more females can be inseminated. Tris thinners are often used because of their citric acid and fructose content which help maintain pH stability as well as protect spermatozoa. In addition, life cement diluent is also used because of its ability to maintain the survival of spermatozoa. The addition of egg yolks and natural antioxidants, such as moringa leaf extract, is expected to fight free radicals and improve semen quality for IB. This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of semen life and modified tris on the quality of landrace pig spermatozoa. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) method with 5 treatments and 5 replicates. Each treatment consisted of P0: 100% life semen+1% EDK, P1: 75% life semen+25% tris+1% EDK, P2: 50% life semen+50% tris+1% EDK, P3: 25% life semen+75%tris+1%EDK, P4: 100% tris+1% EDK. The cattle used were 2-3 years old, and the spermatozoa used were taken manually by grasping the penis using a cleaned hand. The results of this study showed that the P4 treatment had a significant effect (P<0.05) compared to the other treatments, with motility values of 45.80±3.49%, viability of 56.36±2.06%, abnormality of 5.00±0.86%, and survival of 44.39±2.53 hours. It can be concluded that 100% Tris diluent + 1% EDK is more effective in maintaining the viability of landrace pig spermatozoa for 40 hours of storage time.

Abstract

This research delves into the Masonic secrets embedded within Dan Brown's novel "The Lost Symbol," particularly as they relate to Washington D.C.'s enigmatic history. The study centers on Freemasonry symbols depicted in the novel and seeks to uncover their deeper meanings by analyzing real-life counterparts. The primary aim is to disclose the second-order meanings of these symbols, thereby unraveling the myths associated with Freemasonry, especially the so-called "lost symbol." Employing Roland Barthes' semiology perspective, this research reveals how Masonic symbols, as described by Brown, are interwoven with Washington's iconic monuments. The analysis focuses on symbols such as the House of the Temple, the Apotheosis of Washington, the Pyramid, the Circumpunct, and various Masonic working tools. By interpreting these symbols through both their first-order (denotative) and second-order (connotative) meanings, the study aims to reveal the myth behind the lost symbol. The findings indicate that the Masonic secrets are indeed hidden within the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building, specifically in the House of the Temple, where Masonic rituals are conducted, and the Capitol Rotunda, which is rich with concealed Masonic lore. The ultimate Masonic secret, as portrayed in the novel, is the "Lost Word," symbolized by the phrase "Laus Deo" (Praise God), inscribed atop the Capitol. According to Masonic beliefs, this symbol holds the power to unlock profound secrets, guiding them towards their ultimate objective: the establishment of a New World Order. Through the lens of second-order meaning, the myth of the lost word is interpreted as a celestial symbol, representing the promise of new beginnings and the transition from night to morning, as envisioned by the Masonic forefathers who designed the U.S. Capitol.
