Abstract

The effect of Tauge Extract Medium (TEM) concentration to the growth of Subang isolated Scenedesmus. Research on the effect of several concentration of Tauge Extract Medium (TEM) to Scenedesmus Meyen cell densities was conducted. The research was an experimental study with complete random design with 8 treatments, i.e. 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6% TEM, aqua bides, and Bold Basal Medium (BBM). The results showed that TEM concentration effected cell densities of Scenedesmus. At peak condition, the highest cell density (3.981.071 sel/mL) was occurred in 4% at the day of seven, and the lowest cell density (87.096 sel/mL) in aqua bides at the day of three. Kruskal-Wallis test showed that there were differences between the mean of cell densities on all treatment media. Multiple comparison test showed that mean of cell numbers of Scenedesmus differed among treatments (p value>0,05) between aqua bides with 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, and BBM.

Abstract

Vertical distribution of bacteria population in relation to chlorophyll-a in East Kalimantan waters. Study on distribution of bacteria population and its relation to concentration of chlorophyll-a has been conducted in August – September 1999 in East Kalimantan waters. The purpose of the study was to observe the correlation between population of bacteria and concentration of chlorophyll-a in water column. Acridine Orange Epifluorescence Microscopy method was used to analyze bacteria population, while fluorometric method was used to determine chlorophyll-a concentration. The result of the study showed that bacteria population was positively correlated to chlorophyll-a concentration, area with high bacteria population has high concentration of chlorophyll-a. The high bacteria population was found in the water columnh of the 25 m deep,as well as for chlorophyll-a concentration, ranged between (4 and 90) x 106 cell per ml and (0.2 and 1.14) mg per m3 respectively. It was concluded that vertical distribution of bacteria population was closely correlated to the concentration of chlorophyll-a

Abstract

Area divergence is a process to establish new autonomous region by dividing formerly local authority entity. This process was driven by the Regional Autonomy Law no. 32, 2004 which ensure decentralization mechanism to occur from. Spatial conflict is a term of interregional conflicts that is potentialy related to former administrative divided border line, which then will create border line dispute. This potential for any interregional relationship (including conflict) is a function neighbour number. According to an Internal Affairs report, thus recent phenomena of local divided authorities has been escalating in Indonesia. Since 1999-2005, there has been 148 new local autonomous governments or more than thirty new additional local autonomus government were born annualy. There are two main questions arise from these issues (1) what is the ideal number of local autonomous government in Indonesia, and (2) what is the quantity of interregional relationship needed to relate spatial conflicts. Based on the central place theory and a spatial conflicts model the ideal number of autonomous districts in Indonesia is 460 of kabupaten/kota and 46 provinces. Theoretically, they need 2760 forms of interregional relationships or six relationship forms in each local government to eliminate the spatial conflict potentialy. Rearrangement of regional autonomous policy focusing on the implementation of areal divergences shall be done as quickly as possible.

Abstract

The variety of six enzymes locus on three populations of Dioscorea bulbifera was revealed using both starch and polyacrilamide gel electrophoresis. Present study showed three polymorphic loci has each 2 alleles with nine total numbers of alleles for all populations examined. The higher alleles variety detected within population (Hs=0,08) than among population (Dst=0,04). The high levels of gene flow (0.53) were due to low differentiation among population. This result supported low levels genetic variation among population examined. Alozime data revealed moderate differentiation genetically between Western and Eastern part population from Bukit Barisan edge.

Abstract

The study of anatomical structure and karyotype of West Sumatran Dioscorea bulbifora L. Had been done from March 2005 to January 2006 in plant Structure and Development Laboratory of Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science, Andalas University. In present study were used descriptives and quantitatives method by preparing semi-permanent and permanent slide. Anatomycal structures of green aerial stem were consisting of epidermal, cortex with endodermoid cells and sclerechima tissue centripetally. Vascular bundle can be rocognized in three distinct rings with amphycribal type. Transverse section of leave anatomical composed by both a layer epidermal on upper and lower leaf surface, palysade parechima, and spons parenchyma (dorsiventral type). The stomata were anomocytic type on both upper and lower surface of leaf (amphystomatic type). Idioblast of cell raphides crystals and tannin containing founded in leaf structure. In transverse section each of eight individual bundle surrounded by sclerenchyma. The root anatomical structures consist of epidermal, cortex, endodermal (U shape wall thickening), pericycle and pith (with three ring of vascular bundles) centripetally. The air tuber lacking of starch grains containing of parenchyma cells. Idioblast cell expected contain of HCN distributed over all of tuber tissue. The somatic cell chromosome were diploid 2n=20 with basic chromosome number were x=10

Abstract

Plankton abundance in Gilimanuk Bay of National Park Ecosystem, West Bali. An observation of plankton condition in Gilimanuk Bay of National Park, West Bali was conducted during March 2006. This study aimed to observ the environmental quality of Gilimanuk Bay water. The parameters observed were focused on the phytoplankton and zooplankton communities. Ten points of observation was done. Plankton abundance varied with location group from 4428 to 1716224 sel/m3 and 23938 individu/m3 (67.73 %) for microplankton and macroplankton, respectively. Microplankton community structure was dominated by the group of diatoms, such as Coscinodiscus, Chaetoceros, Guinardia, Navicula. Pseudonitzshia. The genus Ceratium (the group of dinoflagellates) was found in relatively abundant, but still normal condition. The structure of macroplankton was dominated by copepods 23938 individu/m3 (67.73 %). The other hand, information about mangrove, sea grass and coral reef and asssosiation with fauna in these ecosystem of Gilimanuk Bay very rarely. We need observed this subject for base line data to improving management of marine resources development.

Abstract

Observation and Change Analysis of Coastline in the Cisadane Coast, Banten Province. The observation of coastline in the Cisadane coastal waters, Banten Province from Tanjung Pasir to Rawa Saban were carried out in July, 2005 and November, 2005. Based on the results of observation coastline in the year of 2005 and over lay with the results of coastline digitation analysis from image landsat 5 TM in the year 1997, we found several abration and acration areas, which may be due to the effects of human activities and natural fenomena such as, hight current and hight wave during moonson over that area.
