Abstract

Evaluation of drug use as one of monitoring and evaluation of pharmaceutical services in controlling the quality of drug use in health care facilities in the JKN era. The suitability of drug use with the formulary is an indicator of achievement in the hospital's minimum service standards to get an overview of drug use patterns and to compare drug use patterns in a certain period. Antibiotics are a class of drugs that are widely used, so it is necessary to control the use of antibiotics. This study aims to obtain an overview the use of antibiotic and to compare their usage patterns based on a certain period in line with the development of applicable regulations. This study is a retrospective study with parameters the percentage suitability of antibiotic use at UGM RSA Yogyakarta with hospital formularies and national formularies analyzed from reports on drug use at UGM Academic Hospital in 2013, 2016 and 2019.The suitability of antibiotic use at RSA UGM with the hospital formulary for the period 2013, 2016 and 2019 was 99.41%, 98.98% and 98.77%, which indicated a decrease. Meanwhile, the suitability of antibiotic use with national formularies increased from 92.73% in 2016 to 97.45% in 2019. The total value of antibiotic use incompatible with the national formularies in 2016 and 2019 was IDR 48.812.193 and IDR 17.855.837. The suitability of using antibiotics with the hospital formularies and national formularies at UGM RSA still needs to be improved so that they are by following under with the minimum hospital service standards.

Abstract

Inappropriate use of oral antibiotics will contribute to an increase in antibiotic resistance and treatment failure. Compliance with the use of oral antibiotics is one of the things that contributes to the inappropriate use of antibiotics. This study aims to analyze the effect of information booklet reminder media on adherence to short-term antibiotic use conducted in four puskesmas in the Surabaya area. Patients aged 19-50 years who were prescribed short-term antibiotics (<7 days) were included in this study. Patients were then grouped into two groups, namely the intervention group who was given an information booklet, and the control group. Compliance with the use of antibiotics was measured based on the calculation of the remaining antibiotics on the day the antibiotics ran out. A total of 192 people were recruited in this study, 96 people were in the intervention group and 96 people were in the control group. The results of measurement of adherence and analysis showed that 80.21% of patients in the intervention group were obedient in using their antibiotics, while patients in the control group were compliant with 60.42% (p-value 0.003). Based on these results, information booklets can significantly affect patient compliance in the use of short-term oral antibiotics so that information booklets can be used as one of the educational media in increasing adherence to antibiotic use.

Abstract

Drug storage is something that must be considered because it can affect the quality of the drug. Storage conditions must adapt to the stability of each drug. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge about the storage of syrup drug preparations in patients in all public health centers in Pekanbaru. The research method is analytic observational with cross sectional design. The research sample was the people who visited all health centers in Pekanbaru city which were selected by purposive sampling technique according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and obtained a sample of 160 respondents. The instrument is a knowledge questionnaire that has been tested for validation and reliability. The knowledge questionnaire contained 14 valid questions (r=0.818). Presentation of data with bar charts and narrative text. The results of the study revealed that there were 66 respondents (41.25%) in the good knowledge category and 94 respondents (58.75%) in the sufficient knowledge category and none of the respondents had less knowledge in the category. From these results, it can be concluded that most people do not know well how to store syrup drugs, so it is necessary for the role of pharmacists to provide education to the public, especially regarding how to store drugs correctly

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with fertile soil and rich in plant species. Currently in society the use of medicinal plants as herbal treatment has increased. Elderly people often experience Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is inflammation of the synovial lining of the joints. One of the plants used by the community is red betel leaf (Piper crocatum). However, scientific information related to the potential of red betel as an anti-inflammatory in Rheumatoid Arthritis is still not widely known by the public. This study was conducted to explore the potential of P. crocatum leaves to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis which can be used as references regarding Rheumatoid Arthritis therapy. This study uses a narrative review method from previous studies that were collected related to the topic which was then discussed systematically. By using keywords in the search for Piper crocatum, anti-inflammatory activity, red betel bioactivity, secondary compounds in red betel leaf, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. P. crocatum leaves contain various bioactive compounds. Flavonoids have activity as primary and secondary antioxidants. Flavonoid compounds such as brazilien, brazilin, taxifolin, procyanidin found in red betel have anti-inflammatory activity in rheumatoid arthritis. Brazilin is one of the flavonoid compounds from P. crocatum leaves that has the potential as an anti-inflammatory in rheumatoid arthritis by regulating the transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) for TNF- expression against inflammation.
