Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the spatio-temporal patterns of dengue virus infection via kernel density estimation to assess the relative risk distribution and identify transmission hotspots in the Bobonaro municipality. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on confirmed dengue cases (n=311) reported from seven community health centers and one referral hospital in Bobonaro from January 2022 to December 2024. Kernel density estimation with optimal bandwidth selection was employed to map the relative risk distributions and identify spatial clusters. Demographic patterns across age categories were analyzed using negative binomial regression with a quadratic age-rank term, and sex distribution was analyzed using an exact two-proportion binomial test. Results: Annual dengue cases increased by 41.48% over the study period, with significant seasonal patterns observed during the dry and rainy seasons. Case counts increased from the infancy category toward a peak in the youth category (5–14 years, 158 cases, 50.8% of all cases) before declining in older age groups, a pattern confirmed by negative binomial regression with a quadratic age-rank term (incidence rate ratio [IRR] 8.45, 95% CI 2.70–25.37, p<0.001 for the linear term and 0.74, 95% CI 0.65–0.85, p<0.001 for the quadratic term). Females accounted for a slightly higher proportion of cases (51.8%, n=161) than males (48.2%, n=150), a difference that was not statistically significant (p= 0.571). Spatial analysis revealed persistent hotspots in southeastern Bobonaro, with new clusters emerging in the northern regions by 2023 and transmission typically contained within an 80 m radius. Conclusion: This study identified clear demographic vulnerabilities and dynamic spatial patterns of dengue transmission in Bobonaro, demonstrating the utility of GIS-based spatial analysis for strengthening surveillance and guiding targeted vector control in resource-constrained settings.

Abstract

Purpose: To conduct the first gender-sensitive bibliometric analysis of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among female workers using Web of Science data (1999–2025), addressing a critical gap in occupational health research. Methods: A bibliometric methodology was applied to 59 scholarly articles extracted from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection (1999–2025), selected from an initial pool of 1,847 records via systematic screening based on subject area, language, document type, and gender-specific occupational focus. VOSviewer (version 1.6.20) and R Bibliometrix (version 4.x) were employed for co-citation analysis (citation threshold = 1, yielding 54 cited references) and keyword co-occurrence analysis (67 keywords; total link strength = 327). Results: Eight research clusters were identified: Clinical Conditions and Pain and General Health and Work Environment emerged as the most dominant clusters, followed by Risk Assessment and Demographics, Anatomical Regions and Specific Disorders, Work Conditions and Psychosocial Factors, Physical Demands and Ergonomics, Prevalence and Epidemiology, and Intervention and Management. Publications remained low from 1999 to 2010 but increased markedly from 2011, peaking at 9–10 articles per year in 2020–2021. Citations grew exponentially from 2015, exceeding 130 annually in 2021. Public Environmental Occupational Health dominated the field (50% of studies; 787 total citations; 29.15 citations/year). Conclusion: This study provides the first bibliometric mapping of occupational MSDs in female workers, revealing critical gaps in female-specific ergonomic and psychosocial interventions (Cluster 8). These findings highlight the urgent need for gender-sensitive workplace policies, targeted ergonomic guidelines, and gender-disaggregated risk standards in labor frameworks—particularly within female-dominated sectors like garment manufacturing, food processing, and healthcare.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examined the effectiveness of a website-based balanced nutrition education program grounded in the Health Belief Model on the knowledge and perceptions of early adolescents, comparing it with conventional educational media. Methods: This quasi-experimental, pre- test-posttest control group study was conducted in Sleman, Yogyakarta (February–May 2025). Junior high school students from SMPN 1 Mlati received the website-based nutrition intervention (three 30-minute sessions on days 1, 3, and 5), while those from SMPN 1 Seyegan served as the control group (conventional/printed media). Knowledge and perceptions were assessed using structured questionnaires before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed to evaluate within- and between- group changes. Results: Both groups showed a significant increase in knowledge scores after the intervention (intervention: 39.90 to 48.43, Δ=8.53, p<0.001; control: 37.00 to 45.44, Δ=8.44, p<0.001). Perception scores also increased significantly in both groups (intervention: 48.28 to 52.27, Δ=3.99, p<0.001; control: 50.75 to 52.03, Δ=1.28, p=0.032). However, between-group analysis indicated no significant difference in knowledge improvement (p=0.911), whereas perception improvement was significantly greater in the intervention group (p=0.004). This finding suggests that website-based nutrition education serves as a more effective "cue to action" for fostering positive perceptions of balanced nutrition than conventional media. Conclusion: Website-based balanced nutrition education is more effective at shaping students' perceptions than conventional media and holds potential as a theory-based school health promotion strategy.
